- Rebel Moon: Part 2 -- The Scargiver official trailer reviews are out for Zack Snyders 2nd Netflix Disney Star Wars esque movie. Besides the 6 hours Zack Snyder cut of the first movie, Rebel Moon Part 2 will be more of an action orientated movie with more backstory for each of the characters. Sofia Boutella's Kora and Ed Skrein Atticus Noble return as the main hero and villain of the series. But as Part 2 approaches, after critic reviews of the first one, can this save Rebel Moon. Is Rebel Moon worth watching?

Rebel Moon: Part 2 -- The Scargiver Official Trailer is out and far from trying to fix the problems from Rebel Moon, it doubles down. We've got slow fights, slow motion and some extremely bizarre choreography. Rebel Moon Part 2 is supposed to be the action movie of the two, while also seemingly giving all the characters some actual character and backstory. I'm not sure how this is going to be done when it was entirely lacking from the first movie. And personally, I doubt this will fix any of the issues given that Zack Snyder himself has said he doesn't care about the reviews. But what do you think? Dude, this feels like an extended video game cutscene, why are we not getting more Shakespearean character driven works of cinema? Full of intrigue, show not tell character building, suspense and conflict. Hollyweird is deliberately self-sabotaging, releasing sub-feelies level content to churn out ever decreasing levels of thought provoking content. To try and prep, or nudge, the audience for the ‘next frontier’ of entertainment, in that of the dystopian horror show technology of devices like the ‘Vision Pro,’ and nightmarish augmented realities.
Even though the movie was awful, that doesn't mean more people didn't watch it than barbie. The standards aren't exactly high on Netflix, so it is totally believable that a shit ton of people watched rebel moon Evergreen while hating it. I bet at least half the people that saw barbie ended up hating it as well

Wait -- a strong female character that is introduced as a bad@$$ but is imperfect, doesn't always make the right decisions, gets injured, faces consequences, gets betrayed, has conflicts with men AND women, has to work with men to accomplish objectives, does so without demeaning a guy to make herself look better, and actually has something of a character arc? Nah, that could never work...

True, but I'd also say it goes way further back than modern warfare.
Fighting from a distance at which your attacks can reach them but they can't reach you back has been a major part of armed conflict since someone first picked up a good rock. That's how fundamental the idea is.

Dune gets around this with the shields, Star Wars (the OT anyway) sort of gets around it with lightsabers, the universe has reasons written into the world building to enable the close up fighting in a somewhat logical way.... Rebel Moon? yeah, Snyder never considered this, he just wants his cool fight scenes
Even in older combat- you used ranged weapons first, & _then_ closed for the hand-to-hand; spears, archers- & then cannon, as time marched on - like you say, it's pretty fundamental...

The problem during the action scenes is not with Sofia's speed... it's with the choreography. Soldiers with guns running towards her without firing a shot is part of it. Sofia played Gazelle in Kingsmen, and that crew knew how to utilize her abilities during the action sequences.

Absolutely, the fight choreo in King´s Men was done by the late Bradley Allen, who was a member of Jackie Chan´s stunt team. (If you watch Jackie Chan´s "Gorgeous", he´s the Caucasian guy who fights Jackie in the showdown of the movie.) That´s why the fights look so "fluent" in these movies.
On "300" & "Watchmen", Snyder got the 87Eleven Stunt Team of Chad Stahelski & David Leitch ( the creators of the John Wick franchise) to do all the fights, but he didn´t brought them back for "Rebel Moon".
Definitely, I saw some BTS scenes that were rehearsals and she was a lot faster and more fluid in them, so were the stunt guys.
I said the same thing - I don't think it is the fault of the actress. I blame bad choreography and bad direction.
That being said, I thought the movie was alright as an unsanctioned/loose WH40k adaptation. Not sure if making it longer will improve it though.

You know what's sad? I recall 70s to 90s martial arts films from China with females that look like they could fight. (Jackie Chan fought 4 "amazon" women in the final fight of the Armor of God film) So there's a good reference of how it could be done. This just makes the trailer and film as a whole look like someone's vivid dream of trying to be as cool as them.
Probably because instead of focusing on power, the women there utilities, their natural agility, elegance, and actual battle iq. Martial arts is the choreography because there are a lot more creative ways to maneuver without fire a gun and punching.
@@timothymcintire5747 agility and coreography isn't gonna help you much when you actually need to take down a person that is twice as big as you. If you are weaker (man or woman) you need force multipliers, aka weapons to win. Not a lot of men can realistically stand a chance against a jacked MMA fighter or special ops guy either.
But yes in a movie if they get some buff woman that looks tough and has some decent training they can fake it well enough.

@@nolilado5452 yeah that's a good movie fight scene, they play camera tricks to avoid showing any potential size difference (yes I noticed that), are quick af with tight coreography, focus mostly on leg work because they have pointy shoe/weapons, and are also 4vs1.
In reality it's less unfair than it looks, but still a bad day for the person getting dogpiled

For a couple of years, I had access to my mate's Netflix account. About a month ago I remembered I could access Netflix and thought "it's been about a year, maybe there's something to watch in the background"

All this to say that I haven't noticed anything missing from my life, and this is still a better story than a disney film 😅

@@artnull13 There's a glaring contrast between characters like Ripley, who evolve over time, especially in the first film, and then grow in subsequent ones. Take Ray in Star Wars, for instance; she's suddenly a master Jedi with exceptional abilities right from the start. She should've started off as inexperienced, gradually honing her skills. But, because female characters can't be portrayed as weak, it ruins the entire hero's journey archetype.

Usually slo-mo is used to accentuate and present the fight choreography in it's full glory but unfortunately in Snyder film, it's used just to show us, the glaring inadequacy and the inability of the actors, the writing and the directing. Instead of showing us what's he's capable of, Snyder kept showing us he's a bad writer, time waster AND his direction couldn't keep the story telling coherent. 🤦♂️
I think in the Snyder cut of whatever loser movie they have an 18 second shot of the team going up or down stairs. People hate on Wheadon for cutting that wonderful amazing scene.

I don't really think it's Sofia's fault. She's an amazing dancer, and had awesome fight scenes in Kingsmen. I think the problem was Zac and his stunt coordinator telling her what they wanted and she did it. Given her skills, when you say the stunt men are waiting for her, I think she might be waiting for them. And I had the thought that done at full speed, and move like the dancer you are instead of" we're gonna slow this down to slow-mow" It would have been way more effective. Looking at it again, I have to wonder whether it was shot with the performers moving at a slow speed too.
They saw the reception to Part 1, and still said “nah, keep the style completely the same. In fact, make the editing nightmares worse”

The more of these modern fights get released, the more I'm impressed with the one near the end of Kung Fury.
The Mortal Kombat esthetics, the over the top nature of it, and it at least appearing to be shot in 1 take is just insane. And that for a kickstarted project with a budget less than 3% of a She Hulk episode.
I think it was Tony Jaa in "The Protector", where he has a fight in one shot up a stairwell, and it is AMAZING.
In the corridor scene the second time she shoots the gun it makes the shooting noise, has a flash, but nothing comes out of it.

After watching first movie I was so excited for a second one that I haven't seen a trailer yet. And not going to.
10:18 - "I started preparing about four or three months before shooting and I had to, yeah, go under a lot of training and a strict diet and a lot of research."
Meanwhile, Hayden Christensen started a strict diet, weight training, and cardiovascular training _at least_ six months before they started filming Episode III. I believe he went to Australia three months before filming to work with Nick Gillard on fight choreography and continuing weight and cardio training. Say what you will about the prequels and Hayden's performance, dude was unbelievably well trained for his role.
I fully expect that when this dumpster fire fails Zack will once again use “just wait until you see the director’s cut” excuse.

Get an ad blocker. There's no watching YT without one. I've used them for years and never see "yellow dot" ads in the timeline. Why punish yourself? Just block them.
I wouldnt know lol, youtube became unbearable without an ad blocker years ago. For years I'd put up with the annoyance because I wanted to support the channels I watch. But It got so egregious I just couldnt take it anymore. Now there's no way I'd ever go back. Every now and then I get on youtube on my room mates laptop while I hop on the treadmill and am like "oh wow its THIS bad now?? Good lord!" Ad after ad after ad like every 5 minutes. After an hour of it I'm ready to pull my hair out.

@5dmkiii60 I haven't had to worry about it because every single person I watch never gets ads lol. Until recently maybe. I will certainly be looking into it now though, for sure.
Edit: I guess I can't say ALL. There are a few that have had ads on them but like you guys said, it's never been this bad. Will be doing exactly that today!

Also like isn't that one of the things literally shown in the first film. That planet helped the "rebels" and they got blasted for it. Ya know there is an excuse for it in say 40K, some planets have heavy industry that is required to be retaken so sending in a land force is the least destructive way of getting it back. A single farming rebel village may as well be shot at from space, safer and easier. You'll still have 99.9999% of the planet left to farm.

It can only improve on the characters - hopefully they will interact a bit - and show the robot scenes in the wilderness. Oh... and it will be gory. But these are the only things it can show more. Logic will still be missing from the story :D
somehow i doubt Rebel Moon with more sex, violence, and an uncomfortable mixing of the two is going to do much to improve a film that utterly lacks plot and purpose....

The problem making a whole film series at the same time is you can't course correct. You're locked in and if the first one tanks the only choices are to solider on or give up.

Snyder's response seems on brand for Hollywood. They don't care what the audience likes. They have a message to push and they think we have to watch their movie regardless if we want to. That's how it seems, anyway. Then their movie flops and they can't understand that the audience didn't show up. They ordered us to see the movie. How did we disobey an order? They can't believe it's possible.
The fact alone that Zach Snyder, and probably other Hollywood big-shots, thinks a movie ticket is so cheap as $10 made me chuckle so hard. Man, they used to be. But dude's clearly in a fantasy if he believes that...

As a DC fan boy, thank goodness people are finally realising he was part of the problems at DC. Sure, corporate meddling fucked things up, but he was part of the problems as well. I sincerely hope the Snyder Cultists can finally put this to rest so we can all move on.
