My expectations and excitement for this year's team was already sky high. But after hearing Williams speak the other day it's on a whole new level. He's gonna make such a difference for everyone along the front. Hutch will benefit from this the most and finish off more of all those pressures he gets. I think he's gonna challenge for the sack record this year. Can't wait for September
Lol 😂 Fred. I understand the Dynasty thing but not your other comments. But I’m with you brother. Brad Holmes is building a Dynasty. I’ve been saying this for about a year. I’m 100% with ya brother.
If he continues to build off what he did last season, there’s a good chance he’s in the conversation, and that’s all that really matters. People see his sack total from last year of only 11.5 and think he’s nowhere close, but that’s not true. He was at the top of the league in hurries, pressures, and QB knockdowns. I believe he was 1st or 2nd in all of those categories. Nobody was in the opposing backfield more than Hutch was last year. His sack total of 11.5 was abnormally low for someone like that who consistently beat his blockers. With the same kind of pressure rate as last season, he could easily get 18 sacks especially with a big plug like Reader in the middle of the DL now. So if he actually continues to improve as well, he could very realistically be in the convo for DPOY at the end of the season.
I love Hutch and he's the only player on the Lions who has a chance to win it, but it's a very long shot. Hutch doesn't have the bend to get around the corner fast enough to lead the league in sacks. For Hutch to lead the league, the QB will have to hold onto the ball longer than 2.5 seconds. He needs coverage sacks more than guys like Watt and Crosby who get to the QB faster.
I agree it would take A LOT for this to happen. The "help" they got him up front needs to stay healthy. Hopefully the backend can hold for just a weeeeeee bit longer to give Hutch and others more time to finish.
Teams lose players each season. I’m not a big fan of taking previously injured players and hoping they’re still healthy enough for your team. Reader Davenport and Davis are big question marks for me and doubt they’ll be available for half the season
You are absolutely right. Huge risk signings with major upside. I really believe the organization understands the risk. In the case of the secondary they also double dip with young corners to build behind Davis. For the DLine they still have Alim McNeil and they like Levi Onwuzurike behind Reader. Insurance if you will. Risky though!
From front to back we are deep. Rakstraw and Branch in the Nickle and iffy, Joseph and Arnold and Bates. Don't forget Robertson as well. Line is Reader, and McNiel, Hutch and Davenport with Houston and God knows who else with Campbell and Anzalone backing them up. This defense makes me drool. The offensive depth has me more worried
So you are saying he has absolutely no shot and never in the discussion? No more improved play. Almost rookie of the year. Pro Bowler in 2023. 11.5 sacks. That's it huh?
Ya it's hard to be chosen the DPOY, there can only be one and often times it's built off not only stats but narrative. If Hutch fills the stat sheet & the Lions do what we think they can do record wise this year, he can obviously be in the discussion for the award 💯
This.
Exactly.
Putting the puzzle together.
Love what Johnny is doing here. Come on the podcast Johnny!
Really appreciate this! Thank you. Would love to!!!
Hey Johnny 💥💙 Our new D line coach is going to make a big difference for our Lions. He had nothing but good things about Hutch.
Dang Johnny. Hutches sisters are gorgeous.
Yea I think he is foaming at the mouth to work with Alim, DJ and Hutch of course!
Woop Woop!
@@johnnygazsports for sure JG.

You hit it right on the head! Nothing needs to be added here. Nice.

The only way players stopped hutch was by holding him on every play

Most definitely he’s another JJ Watt
Bro you kinda look like trap lore Ross
Hutch needs to work hard this off season.
Track record would indicate he will do just that. It's a long shot for DPOY, I know that, but he should continue to ascend!

best MOVE THIS OFF-SEASON…
No Hutch will not win DPOY. Do you know how hard it is to win that get real.

He'll have a shot this year
