  • Productivity measures your efficiency, rehab companies want you to be as efficient as possible. It is not a system to get you paid, however, It can get you fired if not maintained.

    Wish I had watched this video before I start my 1st and new job at SNF. Ended up reevaluating myself after each day to figure what I can do better to improve/maintain my productivity. It has only been a week so far, I struggle the 1st 3 days trying to get use to documenting on iPad, figuring out their multiple of rehab apps and how things work in the facility😥. Thank you for the info and resource.👍💖

      You are welcome. SNF is a mess right now praying for dust to settle

      @@LovelyyOT Yes it is, so many of my cohorts have already lost their jobs. So far, I've had my hours cut due to either low pt case load or concurrent/group txs. I'm thankful that I still have a job as I look for PRN jobs to make up for the cut hours.

    COTA in SNF: Regarding your productivity and planning your day, are you clocked in as you're planning your schedule out, talking to patients to inquire on treatment time,etc? So difficult because all that non-billable time adds up quick.

      Hey Terri,
      Most of the time I plan my schedule off the clock, it just works for me; and I don't take that long doing that. It's best if you can set the time with the patient during tx or before you take them back to their room ( however whenever I do plan a tx time for the next day sometimes this changes and I don't even have the patient the next day, which is annoying). Because I am an OTR, I have to tx every patient at some point, doing recerts etc. Productivity is annoying but is doable with some really good planning. :)

    You can’t plan it out working in a SNF. Most of the SNF facilities are soo unorganized short staffed RN/CNA make it hard bc they never have the pt up/ready or taken care of in time for therapy.

      oh I know esp depending on the building and the patients but i always try to have some sort of plan for my day and adjust as needed

    I'm sorry but if productivity is what makes a "good" OT, something is very WRONG. Providing quality care and doing what's best for patients is the most important thing. Our worth is not measured by productivity. If you do work in a setting that really focuses on maintaining 80 to 90% (95% for COTAs) it unfair, unsafe and unethical. Why would anyone boast or be proud of having the mindset that conservation with a coworker or family member counts against you? How can you possibly do quality ADL retraining? Therapist have allowed financial priorities and cost controls and OTs have lost professional autonomy & client centered intervention. So very sad.

    Honestly, if therapists collectively would stop cheating themselves by perpetuating productivity standards then the productivity standards would disappear/lower. I’m not gonna stress myself out to help these companies get rich off of me.

      Haha this is the comment of the century ! You are absolutely correct! We as clinicians have to stand up and do whats right . My company write people up for poor productivity, forcing us into their demands.

    Yay, another video! I'm excited to see what you release next. So, do most OT employers not offer a salary to you that is unchanged for that year? I had no idea it fluctuated.

    • @LovelyyOT
      @LovelyyOT  Před 6 lety +2

      mostly is hourly or per patient seen. You might get a salary ifyou are a rehab manager / DOR

  • @inactiveme32
    @inactiveme32 Před 6 lety +4

    Idk if I missed this in a past video but are OTRs paid salary or by productivity?
    Or is productivity just a way to make sure you’re actually doing your job?
    I just need to get into OT school lol

    • @LovelyyOT
      @LovelyyOT  Před 6 lety +3

      HAHA ! we get paid generally hourly or per patient seen depending on where you work , productivity basically makes sure we are being productive and doing our job in the most efficient way.
