Literally every kid in the 90’s wanted to be The Kid. The backwards cap, smooth swing, awesome outfielding. Miss those days.
I sure do too ...grew up a mariners fan far from Seattle so I remember staying up watching griffey randy Edgar and the boys ..no world series but damn sure miss those days life was easier and healthier
I was born in 2010 and my all time favorite player is griffey, I copy everything he does except for the fact I'm a righty
Best mechanics in the history of baseball
Nah trout has that one
@@austinmoore752no bud
@@lukesportsandcards1076 ken Griffey jr has a great swing but trout has the best swing
@@austinmoore752wrong. End of story. Next..
@@tigbeast5257ken Griffey in his prime vs trout rn is gonna be pretty close
All of those players were like kids again watching Griffey. Every kid who grew up playing baseball in the 90s collected his cards, watched his highlights, and tried to emulate that beautiful swing.
There wasn't a single kid I knew who didn't love Jr. Griffey. My all time favorite baseball player and I'm a lifelong dodgers fan.
Taught myself to be a switch hitter because of how beautiful his swing is. I think a legitimate argument can be made that his swing could be "the logo" a la Jerry West and the NBA.
Yessir!
Amen to this.
The kid still got it
Possibly the most beautiful thing i have ever seen other than my kid being born
*Legendary comment*
El swing de el era natural increíblemente hermoso ver otra vez haciendo swing
Your baby mama is definitely sitting over your shoulder right now isn't she. It's ok we know his swing is the "second" most beautiful. Wink wink nudge nudge
My childhood hero. To go along with that beautiful, upper cut swing, Griffey always said that he isn't a home run hitter. It just so happens the ball goes out when he hits it. Greatest 5-tool player ever.
Damn, that a pretty big compliment to your kid then!
At the age of 53 Junior can still bring it and still has the most sweetest perfect swing ever the GOAT
Mejor no lo has podido decir
Pretty? Yes, perfect? Not even close
It's. Just. So. Smooth.
Most consistent swing ever. Just so good at repeating that swing.
No🙄
Swing is absolute ARTWORK.
If swinging is a form of art, then I am an AI
@@r.jguerra5526I guess you’re an AI then. There is so much to the mechanics of a swing
@@ThatGuyProdz I meant, AI does bad art, so I do a bad swing
@@r.jguerra5526 oh crap I read that completely wrong lol
@@ThatGuyProdz So did I 🤣
53 years old and still has the best swing mankind has ever seen.
A Rod has the best swing!
@@leanmuscle365wayofjayfitne9 I loved A Rod too, but Griffey just had a way to make everything look so smooth and nonchalant. Plus he gets bonus points for not being roided during the roid era
Even though he was
@@erichvonmanstein6876 Griffey wasn’t on roids lmao. He was even known to not really be much of a lifter, which is pretty counterintuitive for roiding up. His career also maintained a very normal trajectory unlike someone like Bonds who hit 73 homers at like 38, then followed it up with 3 consecutive 45 homer seasons going into his 40’s.
“I'd bet my life that Ken Griffey Jr. never did steroids, I'd bet every dollar I made in my career. He's the one guy I would bet on.” - Sean Casey who literally played with the dude for 6 years.
@@erichvonmanstein6876 also pretty damn gross you based your entire profile off a Nazi war criminal
Wish i could go back to the 90s and relive it again. So many great players back then. Griffey definitely was my fav though 💯
Remember Mark McGuire, Mike Piazza?
@@Pako_equis Yep. That's when I fell in love with baseball right around the time Mark Mcguire, Barry bonds and those guys were playing
@@underrated7725 Yup I remember asking my teachers at school for the newest Sports Illustrated 🥲
Everyone wanted to be Ken Griffey Jr.
Griffey or a pre-steroid Bonds
My all time favorite baseball player!! Grew up with Ken Griffey Jr. Absolute legend
Once you got it, you got it. I still hit em at 57 in the Atlanta Men's Baseball League.
If you've actually "got it" , you don't brag about it.
Still has the most beautiful swing
Swing looks as sweet as ever.
80s and 90's baseball ⚾ was a great time
The fact that he wasn’t a unanimous Hall of Fame selection is ridiculous. Whoever didn’t vote for him shouldn’t be on the committee
It was 3 Yankees fans 🤬
They voted for 10 other guys who might have been dropped for not getting 5%. Nobody should care if KGJ gets 99% or 100%.
For example Jim Edmonds was dropped that year in his first and only try. That seems ridiculous for such a good player. I’d argue MORE voters should have skipped voting for Griffey and should have voted Edmonds.
@@franzschubertv2874
You do realize they get to vote for 10 players?
@@rolfbernserke4735 that’s what I just said. They voted for 10 other guys. Please read more carefully.
still go that sweet swing. love watching it even after he's retired.
GOAT
Griffey's last ten years. .260/.350/.483. He averaged 50 runs, 57 RBI, and 19 HR per year over that decade.
@@rilenixx lot of injuries in his last ten. He was always hurt. Kingdome beat him up.
Even with the Dad Bod, that swing is still the most beautiful thing sports has ever seen
Kids today will never know the sweetness of JR’s swing.
He can hit better than some of these bums nowadays.
The greatest swing ever
He still has it. #GOAT
Still the sweetest swing ever.
He's the best!
Favorite baseball player of all time! GOAT
That swing is just absolutely beautiful
That swing will never go away
My favorite baseball player of all time
Griffey’s form and mechanics are so flawless that he will probably be able to get distance as long as he can get his hips around regardless of his strength.
You need quick hands to get that swing perfect too probably.
Easily could still be able to top 350 ft+ as an old-timer
Purest swing in baseball history.
Still the sweetest most prettiest swing in all of baseball history. Just something about lefties hitting they make it look so damn smooth. Barry was another one just so damn effortless
The goat still jackin em.. If he never got plagued with career dampening injuries at age 30; He’d be the only player in history with 800 home runs. He had 400 by 29 in 1999; fastest/youngest ever to do so. And STILL finished with 630 even through all the injuries. He was insane. Peak Griffey Circa 1996-1999 was the best player to ever step on the diamond.
It is said that a uniquel athletic, 5-tooled baseball star is a, "once in a decade" or "once in a generational player. But The Kid was something else. He is what I call, "a once in a century ball player. From his mechanics, his IQ, and his sensational abilities to hit and read a ball when it left the bat, Griffey Jr was hands-down, the greatest outfielder to ever play the game.
The most beautiful swing in history.
El mejor swing que haya existido en toda la historia de ese deporte ❤
Yes sir still got it
The purest swing the game has ever seen
Still perfect swing
AMONG THE PUREST STROKES EVER...HAD I BEEN ABLE TO PURSUE BASEBALL FULL TIME I COULDVE PLAYED ALONGSIDE HIM IN SAN BERNARDINO
This kills teachermans argument all day. Best swing mechanics every. Period.
That swing hasn't changed one bit! The best swing in baseball, still
Still the most beautiful swing in baseball history.
To you
Imagine being a little kid watching him play. Then 20 years later you have USA on your chest and your 10 ft from him in BP. Amazing
the godfather of baseball
Who?
Jr was like “ok I’ll end it on that note” 😂
Sweetest swing ever
Sweet swinging Ken Griffey jr
My man KG still got it.. the best swing on the MLB history. ☄️🏌
The Sweetest Swing Ever!!!
Junior and Freddie Couple have the two easiest, but powerful swings in sports history. Neither one looks like they’re expending much energy at all but the ball just explodes.
My favorite player growing up
Saw him make the greatest catch I’ll ever see in my lifetime and I’ve seen a lot of great catches. Tiger Stadium 1998 he robbed Luis Gonzalez of a home run. I was in the RF upper deck in foul territory and saw him leap way over the fence and haul that ball in. I’ll never forget it. The whole crowd cheered for him. Unbelievable
He's still got it
Griffey still got it. That swing is still sweet, fluid, and smooth like in his playing days.
Dude still has crazy pop at 50 years old?!?! Man was touched by the hand of god.
That’s my idol!! 🥹
What a wonderful swing. A player with such a great combination of athleticism and mechanics. It was always nice to know that there was a high profile player in the apex of steroids that didn't need them. All natural baby.
Imagine if we’re still playing, he’d have roughly 900 home runs by now
Him and Tony Gwynn best swings ever
And Edgar Martinez. Picture perfect!
Not doubt on of if not the best player I’ve ever seen play the game.
Sweetest swing of all time. Would've been the all time HR king were it not for all of the injuries. Still, one of the 5-6 greatest CF's of all time.
That swing still elite
Love it!! Was blessed to watch him play growing up
His swing is everything
Why couldn't they have done a Space Jam sequel back in the day starring Griffey, the player of the 90s?
ken griffey jr was so special withh that bat and tha fielding..ken was the jordan of the mlb back then im surpised he didnt beat hank aarons
record of 715 homers lol
Funny enough, it was in the works. There were going to be a bunch of sequels like Space Jam with different sports.
@@ThotamasPrime He had injuries pile up that prevented him from playing longer. The other guys took steroids to give them the ability to play longer. by the time Bonds was done, the steroids were literally the only thing keeping him playing.
The hat, the swing, THE KID.
The kid❤❤❤❤
that swing is STILL so effortless.. the Mariners could have asked him to stay as just the DH.. add another 10 years to his career.. he'd have the career HR record all to himself with very little issue
He still hasn’t missed a beat.
And he was just as much fun to watch in the field as he was at the plate. Junior was must see TV back in the day.
Poetry in motion!
His timing is so good
That swing
Prettiest swing of all time
GREATEST PLAYER EVER!!!
🤭👉 great joke kid
Literally my idol for my entire childhood. I used to write him letters because I had this book of the had a bunch of athletes fan mail addresses😂
Damn that swing is still perfect
Sweetest swing ever!
That dude will have a beautiful effortless swing until the day he dies.
The perfect swing for hitting nukes - The natural
He still has that effortless swing.
Best swing by far in the history of the game
Griffey, forever my favorite player and Mariner of all time
*G.O.A.T.*
Give him back the 4yrs or so he missed due to injuries & the strike and he owns ALL the records.
He’s got such power, like a Mickey mantle
Just looks effortless 😮
Best swing you'll ever see....
That swing though 😢 so fluid, so effortless
Looks effortless
Was always a treat to watch
Just enough swag.. not overboard like today's clown show. Griffey was the epitome of a "professional" and many others from eras past
The kid🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Imagine if Tony Gwynn was still alive him, and Griffey could put on the ULTIMATE hitting clinic.
Actually just saw an interview where he was asked out of 10 pitches in BP how many homers would he hit....he said 7 because if he's going to teach he has to be able to perform it as well. He did change it to 6 a minute or so later to hedge his bet, but still amazing lol.
The perfect swing
Was he even trying. So smooth
He still got it y’all
That's my GOAT
Goat
