- First plowable snow for the year. About 8" of wet heavy snow on top of soft ground. What a nightmare.

Happy new year
Merry Christmas, thanks for posting. What kind of tires do you run? Looks like they did well.
Happy holidays! I am running the patriot tires. Check the playlist on this truck. I have a video on the install. They do very well in the snow.
Heya howdy, couple questions, so have been plowing for a while. Always with a straight blade, either a one way speed plow or the fisher power angle, typically 9' on the pickups just to keep out of the brush. I keep looking at the v plow and wonder, in dry fluff, does it leave a little from the gap? Whats your impressions of functionality added for the extra cost? My parking lots are small and usually just some longer curvy driveways.
It's not completely sealed at the joint on the cutting edge. Sometimes you will lose some. I really don't think it's enough to worry about. I could plow with a straight blade. I did that for a lot of years. I had a driveway that I did that was next to a field. When the wind would blow it got pretty hairy a few times. Would have been really nice to have v'ed my way through. I guess that is why I got the v plow. I actually don't plow that drive anymore, but my anxiety level is less knowing I have the v plow just in case. The scoop function helps at times to move the snow where I want it. Is it worth the extra money? I am not sure. We don't get the snow we use to get for some reason. I could probably go back to my old straight blade and be fine.
I started watching bout 2 years ago when you installed the stl lights. How do you keep that truck so prestige!!!! Living in wi and being a plow truck? Also what not super exact area of wi do you live? I’m slightly north of Green Bay. I seen your comment about the snow. We definitely do not get anywhere close to the snow we use to. I’ve only had 3 plowable events this year so far.
My dad taught me to take care of my stuff. It helped to find a mint condition truck. I am in central Wi. Near Tomah.
what do you put on your plow to prevent the snow from sticking
Nothing. You can wax it or use cooking spray, but it wears off pretty quickly. Sticking snow just happens sometimes. I will shake my blade back and forth or drop the blade after pushing into the pile, if snow starts to stick.
Any issues wothbyour front end with that plow? I'm putting a 8 ft 6 mvp on the same truck as yours and the western dealer told me that the plow is too much plow weight wise and that they could only by policy recommend a 7 6 midweight
If you go by the axle rating this plow is too heavy. That is why in 2011 GM installed bigger torsion bars so people could run the bigger plows that were being made. That being said I am having no problems. I run a heavy-duty bump stop on the front with a good amount of weight behind the rear tires. I use my truck, but I don't abuse it. You have to remember a big plow will wear out parts faster than just driving around. Wheel bearings, ball joints and steering parts. That is normal with any plow you pick.
The hookup is so easy you can take it off whenever you're not plowing as well. I never just drive around with the plow hanging off the front unless I'm moving snow and making money with it and I have an old style mount that's more difficult. Rest of the time plow sits on the ground where it belongs when it's not working. Tons of guys run plows over the official weight rating on their trucks.
Plow still treating you good? Any issues at all? Planning to go with an mvp3 in the not to distant future.
I am still getting the blinking red light every now and then. I replaced the truck and plow side main plug. That seemed to stop the problem last year but this year I was shocked to see the blinking red light again. I can't run the plow when the light blinks. I wait a few seconds and I can plow again. I need to call Western and see what they recommend now that I have new plugs. I am thinking it could be the plow side module.
@@mossman381 did you get it sorted out?
@@jamesnm21 No, it doesn't happen very often. I was going to try a new remote this year. The remote I have is the oldest thing in the system. It's from my first MVP3. Someone said the solder joints can crack in the remote and cause this problem.
@@mossman381 ok. I plan to keep my old cable operated plow on another truck as a backup after I switch over so I'm not in emergency mode should I have any issues with a newer plow.
The markers are stupidly expensive, make your own battery markers for under 10
No BOSS Plow?
