- With Hitler's seizure of power in 1933, the Obersalzberg and the „Berghof“, quickly became the second centre of government.
The area around the Berghof was declared a safety zone and whenever Hitler was present at Obersalzberg, the Reichs Security Service, or abbreviated „RSD“ had to provide personal protection.
The Gasthof „Zum Tuerken“, situated directly above Hitler's estate, was the ideal location to accomodate this special unit under the command of brigade leader „Hans Rattenhuber“.
It was Martin Bormann who forcibly expropriated the former owner of the „Tuerken“ and turned it into a security centre.

Bormann sounds like the ultimate supreme brown noser
Just like
Like the rest of them 😂
He was a control freak and made Eva Brauns life difficult. The only one who could live up to his position was Albert Speer. Maybe Goebbles.
Yeah, just look at the beak on that face. I'm sure it was lodged up Hitler's ass all the time! 😂 How Hitler became the leader of Germany is a mystery. He had to have been demon possessed.
Wow, this is pretty rare image and information wise, thank you for sharing.
I've stayed at the Zum Turken 3 times, last time was 2008. A fantastic hotel (which I believe is or was up for sale recently), with amazing history. It even has the original bunker system underneath which can be accessed for a fee.
The bunker system has been filled in.
@@KlipschHead281 The bunker UNDER the hotel has been filled in? Are you sure?
@@Plentisaki - Ok, now I'm not sure, I watched a video of them talking about filling in the tunnels but I don't know if that included under the hotel, sorry for the confusion.
@@KlipschHead281 No worries mate! I think you'll find that the bunkers under the Zum Turken and the Documentation Centre are accessible, but a lot of the bunker system has either been walled off or is inaccessible now.....certainly to the public! Shame really but there ya go :)
I stayed there as well in the early 2000's a number of times. My favourite go to place to stay in the Obersalzberg. Last visit was 2006 or 07. Places like the Zum Turken are to me quite different from what we expect here in North America. That written I loved the place- period. Would have slept on aboard if I had to for the history.
Thanks for your time to share this vedieo, much better than history channel by far or the so called learning channel??? Well done, hope to learn more from your video's
Incredible information with superb footage and narration
Great video--thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Wie immer ein Spitzenvideo👍👍👍♥️
Thank you for a great video .. are there any books or videos about The House Administers Doehring and Mittstrassers ? They would have had some incredible stories
Its called the Zum Turken, and is today as it was before a hotel. It was used as a communications building during the war.
My understanding is wartime it was used by the RSD- AH's Security Detachment.

I was there for three visits of 12 days each in 2002-2003-2004. The Berghof was mostly a debris field. The Hotel was a little inhospitable, but bearable. The surrounding area was being ruined by the construction of a huge and hideous hotel atop Goring's former home.
If Darges had married Gretl Braun, he would have had to live in Argentina like Hermann Fegelein did and after 1959, he would have managed the "Golden share" of the 700 companies of the H.G.W conglomerate (Hermann Göring Werke)... Hermann died in 2003 in Brazil at the age of 97....he was never charged for the 10,000 murders he committed.....like his brother Waldemar, who avoided German justice only by "changing his name" to Alex Fegelein....
For sale if you have 3.65 million Euro
Klasse gut huhuu schőn aus aachen an dich amazing
Very nice video thx, about the Turken, I heard that the owner did not go to a concentration camp, but was threatened to be sent there with his family if he did not sell!!!
He did for 2 weeks. His daughter told me.
He was very lucky he didn't have an unfortunate accident.
First rule never say anything bad About AH in ear shot
The hotel was rebuild and can be visited today: www.hotel-zum-tuerken.de/
I have heard not. Closed pending sale was what I heard.
That url does not go to the hotel website. It is "reserved." Maybe the hotel is closed now?? Or not operating pending its sale??
@@halibut1249 My last information, dated and second hand, was the Turken was sadly but definitely closed. It was not just the Turken itself I found special but the lady who owned and ran it. Many interesting people I'm told regularly came to the place. Including former Obersturmbannfuhrer GUNSCHE who visited annually.
@@robw3027 - maybe it will open when Covid ends.
@@halibut1249 We can hope but my opinion based on information from sources before it shutdown, combined with the position of the Bavarian/local Government on Third Reich connected sites makes me believe that is unlikely.
