- Electrifying. That is the best word to describe Breyton Paulse. He was a try scoring machine and in a professional game dominated by big men, he stood out.
Who would forget his back flips after scoring tries? What always stood out for me about Breyton is how he enjoyed the game and always played with a smile on his face.
He scored some memorable tries during his career and here we look at some of the best.
Enjoy, and thanks for watching! - Sport
As a kiwi I use to love this guy dude was a remarkable finisher and his speed was quick I always wondered what happened to him.. besides habana this guy was my favourite wing from S.A
Based on this video it seems you can dedicate a whole video just to Bobby/Breyton tries. Legends of the game.
These videos are absolute gold. Thank you for these! They must take a huge amount of effort and footage to find. You’re a gift to SA rugby
That is one of the best compliments I ever received! Thanks for the support Charlie, I'm glad you enjoy the channel. There is plenty more to come!
I second that, and I believe you are a gift to global rugby fans. These epic videos are full of examples of running rugby at its finest.
I idolised this dude in primary school.
Breytie was awesome!! Gave us so much pleasure with his skill and speed. Imagine playing a game of touch rugby (5 a side) against Breyton, Gio Aplon, Cheslin Kolbe, Aphiwe Dyanti and Senatla. OUCH!!!
do they know how to play? an average u15s AUS side would cut them up
@@toiletsmithy3630 In SA we play a one-touch game, also called "touch rugby" or "touchies". So after you are touched it's an immediate turnover.
The 6 downs version of touch, which the Aussies admittedly dominate, is rarely played here. Two very different games.
Absolute legend with electric pace off the mark and then some. 🤩
Another great watch! Breyton was an unbelievable player for Province, the Stormers and Springboks. Electrifying pace and skill!
So sad that Bobby Dazzle's career ended so early. Always had something brilliantto do on the field, ball control par excellence, and Breyton always in the right place to utilise Bobby's skills
What a legend! Thank you for your awesome effort in making these tributes!
Wat 'n legende! Hoeveel keer het ek nie al vir hom gejuig nie...
Paulse redefined the phrase "jou doring!"
neh!
not wanting to be mean or rude
but what happened to south african backs coaching
all the back and even forwards in the older years are so fluid and creative yet the modern teams seem pretty one dimensional
Thank you so much for these videos!!
Habanas idol. Great player indeed
We have surely coached all skill and attacking flair *_out of_* our backline .... the curse of Ian McIntosh
That was a long video! :-)
After a bad season last year it took some good rugby to realise how good we used to be. Really hoping we can get back up there. The more I watched it the more I felt like we used to play how the All Blacks play now. Fast flowing rugby that just undid your opponents because they couldn't keep up.
His speed was just incredible wow
Some of the best quality tries from a winger you will ever see.
Amen.
13:00 like one man takes on the whole AB back line - never seen that before or since
Two things, firstly it sucks that we never hear commentary in Afrikaans anymore, and secondly its sad that Breyton was left in pain and none of his teammates checked on him nor did anyone ever really run and congratulate him for his awesome work.
Well it was just that once but if you watch the entire video you'll see there was lotsa love shown for Breytie.
If your teammate was as fast as that, you'd also struggle to catch up
U contradict urself here.
One of my all time favorites. Go Bokke, go WP, go Stormers!
This legend made me love rugby
9:32 "Bobbie roep vir die fokken ding" ("Bobbie (Skinstad) is calling for it). Outstanding left-to-right pass from the back-rower.
Awesome Tribute..So Funny..round about the 9min30s .. Dan Van Zyl wants to take a tap..one of the tight forwards want to stop him...Dan says...Bobby soek die fokken bal lol..then he takes the tap .. to Bobby (Geez how awesome was he as a impact player).. the rest is history!
Western Province, back then, had one electric backline. Fleck, Slapchips, Paulse, Montgomery, Braam van Straaten, Werner Greeff, De Wet Barry...and with forwards like Toks, Kempson, Krige and Skinstad.
Glory days.
jhoooo the Silver Fox, I get goosebumps at the thought of his fluid handling!
Could you please post the Canada vs. SA match that features in this video? Thanks.
If ever a man enjoyed his rugby, it was this guy
Maaifoedie De La Rey 🙌
great little player.
Great player
13:38 Cullen at Centre, Wilson at Fullback. That must've been when The All Blacks had no idea what they were doing.
Still hurts lol the coach at that time John Hart had an issue where his head got too big putting players out of there key positions. He was public enemy # 1 after the 1999 RWC.
They did win Tri nations 1999.
Prooooviiiimce
25:25 probably the quickest try ever from a game start. 17 seconds.
That try against New Zealand in 1999 was one of the best ever. Where is it on your list Real Rugby? awesome channel btw. I love your vids
Thanks for the support Bob! I think that try made our top ten... Go check out our last two videos in the greatest 100 Bok tries series.
Must be one of the greatest tries of all time.
Was that the one for the 3rd place play-off?
As ek na Breyton luister sien ek n mens wat in opvoeding groot geword het n mens wat respek afdwing As Ashwin Willemse net n kwart van Breyton se fines vehad het kon hy dit as me s vemaak het
Love videos man, absolutely incredible. Any plans for a Brent Russell video?
Way ahead of you! Brent Russel will be up this week :)
Cannot wait! Childhood hero of mine.
@@RealRugby There is a step by Brent Russel in a Super game that was the closest to a REAL ankle breaker that I have ever seen. I think it was vs the Hurricanes?
can I request a tribute to my favourite player! Os du Randt!!!
Jun Long Ng we'll see what we can do ;-)
Real Rugby eh thanks a lot! Love your uploads especially as a Boks fan!
Thanks for the support! We really appreciate it :)
enige video clips oor john daniels
+1 for a Os video
Maybe the Bokke should start wearing their old jersey again .... perhaps they can start playing that way again
No need anymore.
My friend. 2 world cup wins later.... What say you
I say that jersey they wore when I made the post 5 years ago was really shitty. They did in fact improve it substantially, then we did indeed, after that, win 2 World Cups ! So now : What say you ?
@@SodaSeezn
I would like to see Paulse's Famous Jonah Lomu Tackle
Can you recall in what game that happened?
not 100% sure could have been a tri nations game but I think it was in SA.
john daniels tribute... the man deserve it. nice vid of breytie though
So who was faster between Paulser and Habana?
Looks like Paulse. But Habana just knew how to use his better. Same way Aphiwe is quicker than a lot of out Backs but Ches and KLA have better use of their wheels
Bobby roep virrie f👀kken ding!
Uli Schmidt vuilgat delaying the ball at 4:15
Amazing how Uli Schmidt delayed a ball in the 1998 Currie Cup playing for the Blue Bulls after he retired in 1994 while playing for Transvaal. I never knew he made a comeback. As a "vuilgat" nogals
That was so weird seeing him in a Cheetahs jersey. What was that all about?
Eckard Nieman Just before the 2003 RWC the Boks were playing the Cheetahs in a warm up match. Breyton was coming back from an injury and played in that game to prove his fitness. It's the only game he ever played for the Cheetahs
Thanks. I couldn't find any kind of record of the match, so I imagined it was not an officially capped match. Still funny for a regularly-selected Springbok like him to be able to say that he also scored against the Boks.
Eckard Nieman Yes, it was an unofficial match. The Boks played another one against the Falcons beforw RWC too and that's where Jean de Villiers got injured and couldn't make that trip
Cheat code in Rugby 08
his Jersey is about 10 sizes to big
Probably made as such to fit his massive on-field presence.
@@kotieerwee2593 Or to do with the fact shirts were just big back then.
Die man was gevaarlik in sy dae
