  • The Wallke X2 Pro e-bike ($1,599 amzn.to/3idl1oB) is a rarity. Not only is it a full-suspension and full-size fat tire e-bike, but it folds in half for easy transport! Check out my full review at: electrek.co/?p=161929

    I do use the folding feature on my RadMini 4, and it fits like a glove in our hatchback, but this one is too tall for that. The box frame in the middle is typical, but puts a limit on battery size and controller cooling. I really like that rack, even better than my custom rack. Really surprised at how low the price is.

    Seems like they hit the sweet spot on so many features vs. price. Curiously, what do you do with all the bikes that you review after you are done with the reviews? Do they go back to the manufacturers or are they purchases that you return to Amazon, etc.? Or is there some market place where you sell slightly used gear?

      Wallke has changed their specs without notice, the bike no longer has WPAS battery regeneration or " recharge " capability as most reviewers had on their models. I took delivery in May 2021. Another issue with thd bike is that its a LOT slower than the display says. 5 to 7 mph slower! And, the bike now has no functioning speedometer or odometer if you are not pressing the throttle, or not pedaling with the assist on sending power to the motor. So if simply coasting down a hill not adding power, not only is tgere no regen, but you have no functioning speedometer or trim counter adding miles. In other words, if you are coasting downhill, not pedaling and no throttle, the speedometer reads zero mph. Very disappointed with this bike based on expectations set from youtube videos showing now extinct features for 2021. A person in Electric Bike Review forums, under "Known Issues for Wallke" guessed Wallke may have run out of direct drive motors and substituted a geared drive motor without changing the controler or display, which he says would give all these symptoms with the speedo. Wallke is not willing to "service" these issues or correct them. They just reply, this is how the bike is! Buyer beware, and if you want any buyer protection, I reccommend to stick with US dealers.

    'It's not that much smaller.' I would disagree with that... That half length makes it much more adaptable and transportable.

    • @Electrek
      @Electrek  Před 3 lety +3

      Fair enough! My main point was that its not tiny like a typical folding e-bike, but that its reduced proportions (i.e. not having wheels and handlebars so far apart) could make a huge difference towards fitting into the back of a car or SUV.

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Why don't they just call themselves Chapter11 eBikes. This begs the question... do Chinese companies ever truly go "out of business" or do they just reemerge as something else?

      There wont be any advances in battery cells this year so those prices will probably remain until 2021, and as demand goes up this year prices just may increase slightly, we'll have to wait and see what their next move is, I agree they are a bit on the pricey side, I could purchase a used car for these prices.

    Is the frame high tensile steel? A lot of the Chinese crap being made for the USA is then put together in the US to be sold as American made. You then find that the bike buckles at the front forks because it's made in china crap, assembled in the US for the western world. So the question is, are the parts made in China?
