fr though, people need to understand the concept of subjective. The kind of game one finds enjoyable is a subjective thing, not something one can say as a fact.
A farming sim clone with barely any originality is pretty critique-worthy and it definitely makes it look bad.

This game is not for everybody. Had the privilege of testing it even though I’m a wow player I liked it. This game is unique in its own kind of way, it is expected that some folks are going to show up here and infest the comments with their negativity. All I can say is that I had a blast when I tested it and can’t wait to spend hours and hours of gameplay when it comes out.

@@StumbleBoyno rush, no stress, and just the fun alone of actually playing and enjoying a game. I didn’t feel like I had to rush and be ahead of everybody else. I play wow, FFXIV and new world full time and it didn’t feel like any of those games. My game play preferences are weird though. It’s gonna sound crazy but social interactions and how open world the game is, is what makes me stick around in a game. Palia offers both and then other things also add up like how long the game activities keep you busy, how attractive to the eye is the environment, etc etc. There are so many aspects for me to make this a way too long of a comment to read.
I only wish Palia had more character customization options or more advanced customizations. When I log into a new game I expect lots of sliders to customize many details. For example wow now has many different customization options and you can spend long periods of time just customizing your character. Palia has very little customization options. Yes their wardrobe is pretty generous but character customization is very poor.
I love when they include the actual people that make the game. When you see that people worked hard to bring their game to you, you just feel more connected to it.

I would love it if I could make my character a bigger person- like Sea of Thieves, where its just normal to be fat- not a joke or punch line. A wheelchair user would be amazing too!! Great start to all of this- I can't wait to see the world.

Hopefully they'll add something post-launch at least.
But that would cost them money and they would have to put man hours into every cosmetic. In Palia everyone is skinny so it seems way more equal. Nobody can be body shamed if they all have the same body.

Can we please have paler skintones, and even some with different undertones, it seems like the very pale undertones in games are never available, so i would love to see that :)

The game looks incredibly similar to Disney Dreamlight Valley. I'm a bit wary of the game being f2p, but I really hope it'll do better and be better than Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Funny fact: Palia was introduced BEFORE Disney Dreamlight valley even existed.
I enjoyed the stream so much! I haven't been this excited about a game in a really long time. I am so super impressed by how professional you all were. How awesome and cool the set was made me gasp audibly and I was smiling the whole time.This is so encouraging to me because it means you truly care about your game and about the players. As someone who was granted the incredible pleasure of being able to play in Alpha I can not express enough how truly amazing this game is. I for one cannot wait till August.

i would love to have a mount and a familiar that you can customize that also has different buffs they give you when you craft or go foraging. these animals can have different personality traits that are unique to the kind of one you choose!

I think the customization for characters could be better and more in-depth. But I do know, the base game is free. Maybe just for the skin color, I think there needs to be more in between colors. and face adjustment options.
I hope one day in the future we can play as non human characters. I love the majiri and grimalkin! I’d love options for colorful skin, strange ears, sharp teeth, even tails or to be completely animal esc. I think it’d be awesome too to have sliding scales for facial features, body type/muscle and fat mass, height, etc.

I think it looks cute, and I really want to give it a shot. A lot less stressful than the MMOs I play now. lol I sure how it goes better than the last stress test I tried to join. That was a nightmare. The options for customizations on looks is lacking, I hope that is improved.
One thing that worries me at most is the character creation, it's so limited for a mmo to be yet launched. Dont know if the weather changes beyond day and night circle too, like seasons and etc...
And the world seems a little bit empty for me.
So, it bothers you that an unfinished game is... unfinished? They're heading into open Beta the beginning of August, all of this is not done in any way shape or form and the character creation and all game footage has a disclaimer on the bottom it's from Alpha and thus a work in progress.
@@Rem255 Betas generally don't change fundamentals like character creations. The purpose of betas is mostly stress testing of servers, finding bugs that went through testing and balance stats on things like gathering ressources. And ofc generating hype and interest in the game.
@@Rem255 It's a work in progress, yes, but when a game enters beta, that typically means the basic fundamental features are now mostly set in stone, and very unlikely to change in any real manner -- especially if a release date is already set. Voicing concerns about that kind of stuff is completely valid, and even warranted. Not saying anything about it because it's "unfinished" only ensures that none of those aspects change, if they're already more or less hammered out.

Did they ever mentioned this game to be mmo? Didnt noticed devs ever mentioning about it as mmo. Only people who call it MMO are basically people who didnt even seen gameplay before. And after seeing gameplay it clearly wont be mmo.
Cool customization fantasy races, customizable housing(with assets to farm and craft seems like), tons of things to do outside, i guess farming cool things to put in my house, pets? All is looking really good

There could be more lighter skin options. The lightest option now resembles my skin and I’m not even white

Honestly, those skin swatches were so limited I genuinely thought it was a joke.🤦🏾♀️ This game seems to be patting itself on the back alot harder than it deserves to. Not just the swatches, but even the gameplay. This was a very underwhelming shoecase.

I don't understand why there's so much negativity in the comments. That has to be disheartening to the devs that have worked on this game for 3 years. I personally am really looking forward to the game! The art style is beautiful, the music is amazing, and it seems to have all the things I love in a cozy game (farming, fishing, foraging, crafting, building, etc). The website says it will also be available on the Nintendo Switch, so I've wishlisted it there too, but I'll also play it on PC. Looking forward to the beta and release.
because it's nothing special and doesn't do anything new, it's generic, it's art is the same Disney Dreamlight Valley and Coral Island..the list goes on and on but if you like the game thats all that matters and the negative opinions shouldn't phase you.

I'm the type of gamer that has difficulty making friends. Is this game going to allow players like me, who don't really have friends, to join random lobbies or be match made with other players to play along with them? I don't want to play if I am stuck only doing single player, but I don't really connect with people very well and rely on games to have matchmaking or "random queue" mechanics in order to play with them. Anyone know if this game has that?

I believe it's going to be pretty communal in terms of socializations, it's not an mmo or mmo-lite, saw another comment saying 25player limit per server. So they'll let people socialize at their own pace, whether they need something from another or want to slowly get to know another one by one.

Palia looks so beautiful and cozy. I'm not an MMO person, but I could see this as a relaxing experience. I'm hoping the community comes together as kind and together (hopefully all the toxic people in chat during the stream left).
I agree a lot of the complaints around this game people have not played games like harvest moon harvest moon is a farming with no combat

And the way the game director fumbled his way through saying he plays female characters in games because he didn't want to say the "wrong" thing was equally cringe.

Massively Multiplayer = 25 players?
Edit: So after some further research it seems as though the 25 player cap that seems to be rumored comes from the Nintendo product page. And although there will be some areas (towns?) that have a 25 player cap other zones will have a higher amount of players. Sounds like the game uses some smart instancing, insofar as you can force yourself into the same area as your friends also. That's good news I just didn't want it to be 25 players per server type of thing and then when half those players stop player you have a dead town.
I was a pre-alpha tester and had such a good time with Palia. I'm so excited to get to play again!
Looks very promising. I would love if there was a selection of body types to choose from, especially if it lets you make a fat character. Otherwise, keep going in the direction you are headed.
Multiple fat model options plz and if they added wheelchairs they'd definitely get a ton of hype from that
Maybe one or two more lighter skin tones? The lightest skin looks olive and there are many of us pasty whites that are very much paler than that. 😭😭

I think this stream disappointed me a little because they didn't really touch on what makes Palia unique leaving a lot of first time viewers really confused about what Palia is.

This game is effectively Dreamlight Valley with more multiplayer. I actually don’t mind that, but I’m a bit wary of the business model.

It seems like you should add some minigames to play with other players when they come visit your house so theres more reason to have gatherings at people's houses! Also i do think having optional combat at some point would be cool!

I really like the animation for picking up items, but the animation for running seems really stiff. Such an important animation to get right, hopefully you guys can make it look more natural before launch.

From my understanding cross play and cross platform is their plan. Of course we won't know for sure until the Switch launch gets closer. I'm curious if they expand to PlayStation if Sony has gotten better about letting players out of their playground.

Next week my girlfriend of 7 years together finally comes to live with me at my house, she plays with me several games, stardew valley, valheim, travelers rest, Sea of thieves etc. I showed her the game trailer and she loved it, we both signed up and are waiting for the release. I'm definitely going to check it out. But really disappointed housing is instanced. I wanted to walk around the world and see all the great things people are building. Kinda thought that was the point since building a home is the main focus.
You can visit friends home plots. Theres perms associated with who can visit your plot and who cannot

If they make it possible to have private servers this could be great.
The only thing I deslike is the Character "jumping" too much during walk/run animation. If the camera get a little low, front facing the horizon it gets worse. Other than this, man I'm thrilled!!! Look at UI, simply beautiful!

They keep asking questions they know the answer to and go over ultra basic things like a wheel or action bar as if it's something new and exciting. Imagine them selling a car, "well yeah, it has a steering wheel. You can steer the car with the wheel!"
I noticed that too. I watch the whole stream and thought to myself: "I feel like I haven't learned anything." This game feels very empty, and tbh there's some real red flags showing themselves.

Closed beta progress will be saved? Only 25 player servers (guess every game is an MMO these days then)? Instanced housing (on tiny servers?)? And best cosmetics will only be obtainable through the store... Should just have waited for the beta and not watched this stream, it definitely lowered by expectations a lot!
You're absolutely right. Also the game suffers from fps drops (just look when they are showcasing the kitchen in the house) , shadows, vegetation popping, and more. It looks like an early access game.
Yeah they says it's a mmo but I doubt it.
@@micki6491 it did say at the bottom of the screen that the showcase was alpha footage, but i'm guessing it's not early alpha ^^ Let's hope it's a bit more polished when we get access in a couple of weeks :)

i was initially very excited for Palia because the concept sounded amazing. but honestly, and i hope i'm wrong, it doesnt look satisfying to play at all. and i obviously know that they're going for a cozy, all ages game here, but it looks way too easy and boring. this looks like Disney's Dreamlight Valley
i still support this and will play it and i hope it really blows me away and hooks me in some way because a cozy chill mmo still sounds amazing

Will there be mounts or just walking around? Will there be farm animals, such as cow, pig, hen, sheep and horse?
I was wondering about mounts as well, I hope we can get mounts and pets for our characters.
Maybe not the classical animals but more magic creatures? One cal have as shoulderpets companions? That are lively and give slight buffs...

Not confirmed. They basically won't say. But only 25 people in one zone, which doesn't mean anything good. It means they took an of the shelf network library and just used it without thinking about the specific requirements for an mmo. It will likely never be much.

From what I can tell it looks like it will be instanced. Plus since they didn’t mention plots or servers, you will probably need an invite to see a players home.
