    I’ve been using this pump for about 5 weeks now. I like it a lot and upon first try suction was too intense so I’ve stuck with massage mode which is most comfortable with high frequency. But I had no idea how to use the cycles/frequencies so I’m happy I found this video. I feel like I’m not emptying effectively so I’m going to try your technique and see if I can resolve the clogged ducts/supply decrease im experiencing. Do you have a video on slacker boobs? Maybe it’ll help with this as well 😊

    Would you mind explaining the "cycle rates" and "frequencies"? What are they? What do they do?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 3 lety +7

      Frequency is how frequently the pump is sucking and suction is how strong it will do that. Every person will require a different setting for each of those because it feels different to everyone! I would start with your suction low and frequency high. Slowly lower the frequency and raise the suction until you find a setting that feels the best to you!

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 3 lety +3

      You shouldn’t need to under regular use. Unless there’s milk that gets in the tubing. Then you’ll want to soak in warm soapy water, rinse, and swing them around your head like a lasso to get the water out. Then hang them from a kitchen cabinet pull or somewhere where gravity can pull out any other water that didn’t come out. If there’s mold I’d recommend just replacing if possible!

    This is a good review... can we also use spectra parts on this one?
    Thank you for posting things that will help pumping mamas, not everyone understands us, even those who are actually pumping themselves ( esp if we can’t do what they can do) everyone has different struggles...
    One time, I vent out in a supposedly support group of pumping mamas in the philippines about the time that we consume pumping and cleaning parts, that it sometimes takes our time away from our babies, and one of the member judged my comment thinking that I was complaining, she said people spend more time in social medias and if we have time for social media why can’t we give the time for pumping. Basically that’s correct but sometimes social medias relieves my stress, and I use it to keep me occupied while pumping... and being judged for my choices as a mother is hard...
    In return I tried to keep encouraging women in that page, and we call ourselves “enougher” 😂 basically those ladies who can’t produce so much milk but can exclusively provide breastmilk through efforts and extra time 😅😊

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 4 lety +1

    How long does it take for you to double pump with the motif Luna, motif duo and the Lansinoh. I’m trying to compare. I’m worried the suction on the motif duo won’t be as good as the lansinoh or as quick I pumped in 10 minutes with my smart pump lansinoh for 1 year but I feel like I’m going to want something more portable

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 4 lety

      Double pumping takes longer for me than single pumping so I wouldn’t use that comparison. I empty fastest with my Lansinoh, the the Luna, then the Duo. There’s only a few minute difference between the Luna and Duo!

  • @MomandBeanie
    @MomandBeanie Před 4 lety +3

    Wow on first glance it reminds me of Spectra. And its parts are basically looking like Spectra hahahaha. Is this hospital grade?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 4 lety +4

      Very similar but they do have their differences! I have a comparison of them coming this week! The term “hospital grade” is loosely thrown around in the US. There’s no one to regulate how or when it should be used to any company can. But the most basic understanding of a hospital grade pump is that it’s multiple user friendly. Neither the Luna or the Spectra are that. Saying “Hospital Grade” is a little misleading in my book!

    • @MomandBeanie
      @MomandBeanie Před 4 lety +2

      I think hospital grade refers to multiple users and can handle more frequent use so thats why they say ep moms should use hosp grade cause others are not designed to be used 8-12x a day and will break easily if used that frequent. Spectra is indeed hosp grade in that definition cause u can connect your own breastkit and it can be used multiple times a day unlike other “personal” pumps :)

    I’m a little confused on the back flow protector how does it suction with the white thing in it and you keep that on while pumping correct?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 3 lety +1

      The back flow protector is just to keep milk from going to the motor so it does no actual sucking. The white thing is the barrier to keep the milk out. The whole back flow unit goes behind your connector/flange piece which is what creates the suction. You’ll need to hold the flanges on your breasts or get a hands free bra to keep them on!

    • @janamcelroy2164
      @janamcelroy2164 Před 4 lety +1

      For comparison on cycle speeds:
      Spectra S2: 70*, 54, 50, 46, 42, 38
      Luna: 60*, 46, 42, 38, 34, 30
      So the Motif Luna has more options at the lower end of the rates and a slower massage mode, the Spectra on the higher end. Not sure how a first time mom would tell where she would be as far as cycle rates, but good to know for someone who has pumped before.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  Před 4 lety +1

      I have a comparison I just filmed this weekend and while they’re similar, I think they’re their own type of pump too. I picked a clear winner so be on the look out for that video sometime this week!

    I found one that I want to give to a mother in need but it’s missing the bottles. Do regular bottles screw onto it?
