- Hey folks! Today we are painting a 3D print sculpted by CA 3D Studios! This group allows suggestions and I suggested Magik from the X-Men series. These guys did a great job with the sculpt so we are going to bring it to life with paints and some LEDs!

Awesome painting, she looks amazing 🔥🔥
Thank you! Nice to see Lychee stopping by since that's the software I use. I'm sure you'll want to come back to see another figure video I have cooking at the moment. Another X-Men figure at that!
She looks amazing, her eyes look great, to me that's what makes a figure. Great job Dave!!!
Thank you!
Very cool. I like the figure and pose. One figure painter used deck tan for the eyes, but when I used the deck tan over the black, I really thought it was not good and went with the off white. Maybe my red/ green color blindness affected my indifference. I don’t know. But using the off white was much better. I learned this from tee shirt screen painter that red on black is much better than black on red.
Thanks! Off white is great for eyes. It can take more than one coat to cover the black but I feel that it is the way to go on these types of figures
Awesome painting, the flesh tones are superb!
Thank you very much!
just got mine going to start printing tomorrow. love the work you did with the lights I'm going an other rout I'm still doing the clear parts like you but I'm getting a 8in round led stand and letting the stand light her up i found it on amazon. I'm going that way so my other kits can share the same affect. but love your work, very inspirational
.
Sounds great! Can't wait to see it! You'll have to share on Discord so we can see. Thank you!
Thats uhh brave brush to paint eyes with. Your technique and process are correct but doing it with one good sable brush would give a lot better results. Blue transparent flames look great
Thanks. I have some of those sable brushes. I'll give them another try
Looks great, could you use same principle for skin tones on a 1/35 scale
Thanks. You can and I have used the same principals at 1/35 scale but you have to use a brush instead of an airbrush after the zenithal highlights
That came out awesome Dave!
Thanks Donnie!
Looks Great!
Thank you!
Fantastic work, well done.
Thank you!
This was great!
Thank you!
What size needle do you use when painting the flesh?
Thanks like the tip of black in I will be using that. Well done
Thank you! I use a 0.2mm needle with thinned down paint to get smooth transitions
Good painting!! You need an anti-pop filter for your mic, it sounds a lot when you are about to talk the "chewing sound". I would have painted first a highlight with white first on the hair so the blond hair could pop up a little more after what you did next :)
Thanks! That's a good idea!
Amazing work. Btw how long do you wait between different coats/steps? Like from the satin varnish to painting the buckles silver?
Thanks. There is minimal wait time between coats. 2-3 minutes when airbrushing paint or varnish. The varnish I use from VMS dries quickly just like an acrylic. It does take a few more minutes after using an enamel wash but that's a finishing step. I'd say 15-20 mins after enamel washes.
@@relentlesstorm Thanks for sharing! These "inbetween steps" are sometimes neglected in painting videos, so it's always hard to judge how long to wait for things to dry/cure, etc. so I appreciate the info!
Looks amazing. What glue do you use with 3d resin?
Thank you! I use CA (super) glue to put the parts together. CA activator is a huge help as well so it sets quickly.
What scale did you print her in
1/6 scale
