Power carving a Phoenix out of a pine 2x4
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 11. 05. 2019
- In this video I show you how I carved a pheonix using various power tools like a Dremel and belt sander. I quickly realized how difficult pine is to carve, due to the inconsistent grain.. But I had a scrap of 2x4, so I figured I'd make something out of it đ

this is the reason im still going strong the motivation you bring me is why im still trying to post on my channel thank you for everything
Impressive work, as always. Also, thank you for including the problems you ran into. So many wood workers gloss over the struggles they have on projects, but I feel it helps to see all of the project, not just the easy stuff. Again, great job!
Thank you James! I also like to see problems people run into, always cool to see what they come up with as a solution đ
Who wouldn't like that??? I enjoy every your project! Thank you for sharing!
Aww, thank you for watching! đ
Old video but still love the craftsmanship of the phoenix so im throwing you a CHALLENGE!! "Using nothing but the wood scraps in your workshop create an army of ants..ex. Queen- eggs-workers-solders and larvas." Your pretty talented lets see if you can masterfully make these Ross :D
I just came across your videos and this is the third one I've watched. You're so very extremely skilled and I'm in awe. Keep creating and inspiring. Thanks for sharing your gift!
Awesome job!!! It is a fiery masterpiece!!!
As far as my normal garbage..... you will typically see a large sized mcnugget meal so the cardboard nugget container, lg fry container, and lg cup. We drink lots of milk so gallon milk jugs. Cereal boxes. Empty canned goods. And of course random paper. That's the average stuff. There are so many amazing things that can be created with household garbage. I cannot wait to see what that mind of yours comes up with!
Thank you so much Jamie! đ I lol'd at the Mcnugget box! That could definitely make for an interesting video đ
@@RossTheRandom yep!!! Mcnuggets are the best!đ
@@xXGamer_floogullXx Or...đ€What if I made something out of mcnuggets themselves? đ
@@RossTheRandom That is definitely a plausible idea because McDonald's food doesn't ever seem to decompose, it just dries in its natural state. Yet, we all still eat it because who can deny the goodness that is the nugget. đ Just buy enough so that you have enough to work with and munch on. I've got a few interesting ideas in my head of ways this could go but I would love to see what you could come up with. I just recently started dabbling in resins so I've been having fun with that.
@@xXGamer_floogullXx Yeah I've got some resin ideas in the works đ But first.. Garbage art!
This is beautiful! Great idea and great end result!
Thank you Jonas! This one was challenging for sure! But also a lot of fun đ
you are both amazing. I love both of your videos and i am subscribed to both of you because you give me inspiration.Stay safe.

@@RossTheRandom your welcome.
This is straight up fire!
Thanks hunter!! đ
Awesome vid dude, enjoyed it thoroughly!
Thanks man! Had fun with this one lol
@@RossTheRandom Like the shirt as well. It would be awesome if you could play some metal while creating your masterpieces, well with respect to the unfortunate souls out there whom hasn't yet discovered the ASMR of good music man. Thank you for the inspiration dude.
Excellent, man.
Thank you again!! đ
Whoa, that was totally wicked! I appreciate how you try and recycle all the components to the project you're working on; this video reminded me of the full use you got out of the popsicle stick from your earlier video. Your hard work paid off too, I think cutting that one piece in half took so much time but gave the pheonix a good balance of weight.
Also great job editing and good choice in sound design; can't wait to tune in again!
Also, cigarette butts..
Thank you Sydney! I always appreciate your detailed feedback đ Cigarette butts are indeed a HUGE litter problem, but could potentially make for an interesting, yet very dirty project đ
this is amazing.Hoping for more vids soon
I especially related to the way your tongue was hanging out while you were sawing. I can relate to that.
Gotta hold your mouth just right đ
Love ya work Ross! đ
Thanks for watching! đ
That, my friend, is one badass project!! You've got a new sub.
Hey thanks Skip, that's awesome! There will be many more badass (hopefully!) projects to come đ
Impressive. Epic. Love it.
Thanks man!
In our home we waste plastic water bottles like mad. I've tried and tried to get them to reuse them instead of grabbing a new one each time they open the fridge. That alongside with soda cans. Maybe like a aluminum can/plastic bottle mosaic deal? Could be like a sun catcher?
Still, a great video Ross. I enjoyed it a lot and will most definitely be sharing this across my social platforms. đđ
Thank you so much, Matthew! đ Yeah, plastic bottles are a big one.. Plastic in general is the worst for the environment
good job man, keep going
I still believe what I said in the comment I left on your first video (that you'll blow up and be huge someday) and I still stand by it. Your videos have such high quality and they deserve to be seen by more people! Only 1.6k now, but I know in a few years or so it'll be 1.6 mil.
Good luck!
-Kit
Thanks a bunch, kit! I can't express how encouraging that is to hear. I hope that if i can shorten the time between videos, that would help.. Kinda hard when I work a full time job, but I'll keep going!
I totally agree with this comment!!
Y'all are the best đ
@@sahilsird đ Yes it is!
For sure I agree, hope you make it bigđ
Keep em coming dude!
Haha, I sure will man!
Very cool I'm going to copy the design but I'm going to use different woods for the colour.
Found you cos of Bobby Duke, instantly liked cos of the Tool shirt.
Haha that's awesome man! Hope you stick around đ
Wow! Such inspiration! I've had dremel for a while, and was hoping I'd do something with it some day. Kept buying burs and bits, and didn't know how to even use them. Now I know how to make gold out of sand. :D
Fascinante !!! pense que con el poliuretano lo ibas a prender fuego
Omg... this is beautiful... ... now I need to make a steel version
Thank you! đ You should, that sounds like an awesome idea! I'd like to see that

Thanks dude!! Tenacious D is awesome, might see them live again this summer! đ€
If I try this, I'm using 2 1x4s. Lol. Very well done and beautiful
Thank you!! đ That definitely would have been the easier route lol
đđ» Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing. You asked for ideas about using materials that we usually throw away .. how about recycling some HDPE, by melting down shopping bags, milk jugs, etc -- and making something awesome from that? You decide between purely aesthetic, functional, or a combination
đ
Oops! Just came across your Weir Tree .. apologies for my unoriginal idea đ
Haha, great minds think alike! đ I will definitely revisit the HDPE again though, so many possibilities!
@@RossTheRandom Tx, you're very gracious! I've seen some beautiful knife handles made out of multicolour HDPE, with a marbled effect, kind of "mokume gane". As you say, endless possibilities
Loved your video!
Thank you Linda!! âșïž
Beautiful job! Looking forward to some projects with some Meshuggah in the background, haha :D.
Sweet tool shirt big fella

Beautiful
That is gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing. :D Decided to try to answer the throw away question. Problem is I recycle almost everything. I only have to take the trash out every week and a half or so. I guess coffee grounds? Can't do much with that though. :P I throw them out in the yard. :p I got it! Paper towel and TP tubes. :) - Heidi
Thank you Heidi! Lol I have looooads of discarded coffee grounds! That could be an idea đ€

You are a true master of your craft, well done. Try to make a wooden hand out of wood, or maybe a human figure. If you liked the idea, you can indicate me in the next video. Thank you very much, continue your work, you are a good person.
Love the design and carving. Nice work! though IMHO i think a Shou Sugi Ban wold have made use of the wood grain and made it pop even more!

Your artistic ability coupled with the humor makes a good video great !!!! This is why I have subscribed to your chnl.
BTW,. You remind me of Bucky, the winter soldier in the Captain America movie. Lol
It would be so cool to make a giant statue made of coffee tins/containers! I know you have loads of those lol
There's an idea, there's definitely an abundance of those! đ
Hey buddy! Love your creations. Could you please start building tutorial videos for wood carving? Starting with the basics of tools, wood types, holding the tool, pro tips, etc.
Thank you so much! I may, one day. I like to try a lot of new things, wood carving is one of them. I've only done a few, so I'm no expert!
