- Countless Salaam is a song of Prayer & Salutations upon The Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him.
It is an original work, the first in English to be cast to the tune of the famous Urdu poem ‘Mustafa Jaan-e Rehmat’ of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan (r) d.1921, commonly known as ‘Salaat-o Salaam’. Only the refrain has been taken from this work:
Mustapha jaan-e rehmat
Peh laakun salaam
Shama-e-buzm-e-hidayat
Peh laakun salaam
Translation:
Upon the Chosen, the essence of mercy
Be salutations without count
Upon the radiance of guidance's gathering
Be salutations without count
-------------------------
Chapter 1: His Birth
Every thing made for love
First his love then all things
On The Lord's own delight
Be countless salaam
Tablet, Pen ardently
Wait to see what they wrote
On his fame so ancient
Be countless salaam
Aminah can't you see
Angels bow at your feet
On the birth of the best
Be countless salaam
Halima, look again
That poor boy is the one
On the last being first
Be countless salaam
Aminah how was it
To send him far away
On your pain and restraint
Be countless salaam
Aminah, ‘Abdullah
Come see your orphan now
On the joy after hurt
Be countless salaam
Chapter 5: Madinan End
In Yathrib where he lived
It became paradise
On heaven-alchemist
Be countless salaam
"Ya bid'a tum-min-nee
Join me quick when I’m gone"
On Zahra passing fast
Be countless salaam
"Fi Rafiq al A'laa"
Final words that he said
On fervent need to meet
Be countless salaam
Ummuna ‘Aisha
Your home is heavenly
On the best place of rest
Be countless salaam
Missed fortune, we're too late
Face to face was our wish
On the dream incomplete
Be countless salaam
For a glimpse of beauty
Ageing of time we wait
On poor souls impatient
Be countless salaam
