    I've had one since October last year and absolutely luv it. Tend to drive in Adaptive mode for regen and have had 270 miles of range which is close to the advertised. The ability to use all of the Amazon apps without plugging in the phone is cool as well as 3rd party apps integrating with the head up display makes max use of nav capabilities etc. All in all it's a step change from my old Merc.

    Exactly my thinking, the reaction time. After driving electric for years, sitting in an ICE car -- even a sports car -- you're missing this immediate reaction. But that's not something you notice on a short test drive.
    I'm approaching a full year now with my iX3, including a few holiday trips, there's actually not a single big fault with the car. A few minor boring things but I can easily live with them.
    So good luck and lots of fun with your iX3!

      Amazing, and even jumping back in her 440i, the initial pick up is now to slow ;), that said once its going, do miss the sound, but only a little.

    Great review! Just what I needed as I'm considering trading in my much loved X3 M Sport 35d for one. One thing that had me on edge though throughout was the fact you only use one hand to steer - even on roundabouts - not great driving! But hey none of us is perfect so keep up the great work!

    Thanks for this review. Watched other reviews from experts on this car. Most of them had a lot of information or opinions that were not relevant to my driving requirements. This was a simplified yet perfect perspective I needed. Test drove one today and loved how it drove. Switching from a lovely and luxurious Lexus 450H Hybrid which is also a great drive but guzzles fuel like nobody’s business. Don’t do a tremendous amount of miles like yourself so from that viewpoint this seems the perfect solution. Cheers👍

    Great review. I like that you compared it like a regular person moving into a BEV for the first time and coming from a car that’s maybe a few years older without a lot of the cool gadgets that a new vehicle has. Most reviewers just compare all all BEVs and only the latest vehicles. They also ignore the fact that most cars you have to spec up, but the iX3 comes pretty much fully loaded. Most ppl don’t option 360 cameras and HUDs cos they’re expensive options, but I feel like they really should be the default spec. I also did the exercise or configuring a diesel 30d model to the same spec and they were the same price! So weird cos the diesel is manufactured in my country, and the BEV imports from China!

      Hi. Thanks for the question.
      Personally I LOVE IT, I find it smooth and a firm but smooth ride, handles pot holes and shore roads very well. ALOT better than the wife 440i. Or my Audi A6.
      It’s hard enough to give you handerling and grip but soft enough for rubbish roads.

      And in short yes!
      I only do short trips and I’ve been told I’ve drive fairly hard 🫣 - most people from what I have read are getting between 14-18K from a set. Hope this helps.

    I’ve got this ride just 2 months ago and love it. I just realised tho the model Y is actually almost 15-20% more efficient - a model Y gets the same range with a battery of just 60kWh. Any thoughts on this?! Kinda made me wish I did my research first before making the iX3 my impulse buy. Still loving the ride quality.

    • @HastingsKickboxingAcademy
      @HastingsKickboxingAcademy  Před rokem

      Tbh. Yes the model Y has a better range and I see lots of people moaning about the range (rightly so).
      Thankfully I only do on average 200 miles a week. So no need for a long range motor. And when I do go away I use the wife’s car.
      Just love the car as a driver car even being Eletric.

      @@HastingsKickboxingAcademyupdate 2 - so after 9,000 miles my personal view hasn’t changed (as above) but I think there’s far too much anti-EV propaganda around. I average about 14-15K a year and certainly don’t have range anxiety, any complaints about charging times and all that. The tech is moving quickly and prices are coming down, an EV doesn’t suit everyone but I suspect it really would suit a lot more people then they will admit. To be anti-EV is a great band waggon to jump on despite most probably never having used one day to day. Hope you’re still enjoying yours. 👍

I have to say she currently has a CX-5 which is great to drive ( for an SUV ) on the B roads but honestly Euro6 diesels are more trouble than they're worth now. The Volvo, even the twin engined AWD, is cheaper monthly than the Bimmer, but when I drove one it was way too 'comfortable' and wallowed all over the place when pushing on. How are you finding it?

    @pqvid Před 2 lety +5

    Regarding regen mode: I'm used to the one-pedal driving ("B" mode) in other electric cars, so I'm using it all the time. If you're cruising on the highway, then you use the cruise control anyways, and all other times finding the "neutral" spot on the gas pedal is not too hard, so you can still sail while resting your foot in this position. Although I have to admit this neutral zone on iX3 is quite a bit narrower than on Tesla.
    One thing I especially like about the "B" mode is that it implies Auto-Hold. The Auto-Hold without "B" on iX3 is basically useless and scary, so I actually never use it. It's either "B" and implicit Auto-Hold, or no Auto-Hold at all.
    An additional benefit of driving in the "B" mode is that when you actually need to break hard in an emergency condition, the car starts slowing down the moment you lift off gas, a few milliseconds before you hit the brake pedal. Depending on the speed, these milliseconds can be a difference between hitting something hard or stopping directly in front of it. This one alone is actually worth it to keep driving in this mode. Unless you do left foot braking, which would typically mean you're a sports/track driver and know what you're doing anyways :)

    Test driving one on Saturday as a potential replacement for our 2020 Tesla Model 3 LR. Have tested an EQC, ID4 and Enyaq so far and they don’t even come close to the drive of a Model 3 or Model Y. They were all so incredibly dull to drive. Hoping the iX3 is a bit nearer to Tesla and is a viable alternative, as wouldn’t mind a change from Tesla.

      I’ve not driven a 3LR, so I can’t compare. I hear there a beast, but as far as the IX3 goes. I can’t explain in it to words, but BMW seem to build cars for “drivers” which is what I like 🤔🔥👌😎

      Agree. I was always a BMW fanboy. Had a 328is coupe, a remapped 330d and an i3. Would love another but it has to be electric and have some of the excitement of a Tesla (which is a bit of monster if you mash the throttle).

      @@HastingsKickboxingAcademy that’s why I’m thinking about departing from Tesla. In 2020 nothing came close for efficiency, range and charging speed so the compromise of a minimalist interior and fairly ugly car was worth it. It’s still ahead of the legacy car makers for efficiency and range but the gap is not that big now so the compromises with a Tesla may not be worth it any more.

    Do you still have the car? If so what range are you getting now?
    Contemplating one currently, get 320-400miles on a tank of fuel at present, would be happy with 250ish on an EV.

      At last indeed ;)
      And yes it does, the first week I had it open and felt lovely and open, then the last few days it’s heated up, so had to close it as really did warm the car up.
      Seats are very good. Little hard atm, expecting them to soften in time, pot holes, I now love them, when the wife’s in the car 🚗 i aim for them to show off how smooth it is. Lol.
      As for my music 🎶, well, can’t please everyone. Lol. I think it was more of the aggressive front end chasing down and silly little Honda ;)
