- The Joy of Creation: Story Mode is arguably both the SCARIEST and MOST POPULAR FNAF fan game of all time. It's stayed relevant thanks to the CZcams scene and its inclusion in the FNAF Fanverse. However, the developer of the game, Nikson, has ANOTHER FNAF fan game that, while still popular, is not talked about NEARLY as much. Today, I go over Those Nights at Rachel's, a real time 3D FNAF fan game, to see if it's truly another SCARY FNAF GAME.

The Raccoon animatronic in this game actually moving through the cameras as opposed to them just having a running animation in one camera or not even having one to begin with is a detail I absolutely adore.
Also uhyeah, you should check out Final Nights! It's also a 3D FNAF game made in Unreal Engine, I've played the third game and I was genuinely spooked by how intense it felt.

@@Entity404SFM I've just recently played Final Nights 4 after I've gotten a little bored of dying over and over again in 3. Now i'm stuck at Night 4 cuz Proto Spring Freddy keeps putting the pressure on me. Besides that, I think Final Nights 4 is a lot more unique to the series in that you have investigations in-between nights where you have quick and intense minigames at the end of them. The main night sections are also pretty cool, you playing as one of the founders of Freddy Fazbear while having William Afton be the phone guy as you guard a 1970s version of Fredbear's.
I can see the disappointment for Afton Built getting rejected but the problem with it was it's overambition. I mean, it's not even comparable to Final Nights as Final Nights is like a regular traditional FNAF game while having real-time UE environments and Afton Built being an experimental new take on the series that wants to push limits.
@@Entity404SFM I get it. But Afton build went against what the fanverse was about. The fanverse was about giving some fangame creators funding for their fan games. Not to get people to make games that are dependant on Scott giving them funding

Rachel's was honestly my favorite of the fangames back then and still is to this day. When I was younger I even liked it more than the original Fnaf. I personally like the muscular designs Nik used for Pete and Bane to make them seem larger and more like they can overpower you. And I hadn't even realized there was a hard mode, the hard designs are cool too.
Too bad it hardly works anymore. Even the night time speed is completely broken and if you don't die you can beat the game in like 20 minutes.
If Nikson really wants to continue making fangames after TJOC: Ignited Collection I would KILL to see a Popgoes Evergreen styled reboot of this game in the Fazbear Fanverse.

The punching of the animatronics, in my opinion, add a sense of violence and reality, most of the time we are shown just an animation/jump scare when we die, but this gives jump scares give us the dark ending for our security guard and shows that this is what would likely happen if we were to face real killer robots.
niksons games have managed to be so iconic for quite a few years, its sad that the rachels series is pretty much dead but atleast we still have more TJoC content coming

Im super glad you covered this game, as a little 7 year old, this scared the ever loving shit outta me. I played it now and i want more of it. You should also check out the fnas 4 dlc called dlc reborn, its wayyyy better than fnas 4 and has the same vibe except different mechanics and animatronics that look like they came out of a freak show. Highly recommend

I think this game isn't talked about much because of Nickson's other games and the fact that there aren't any other interations of Rachel's.
Okay, I don’t know that much about this game, but Shadow Rachel is fucking GENIUS.
It’s only a second or two, it’s not even really real, it’s dark and eerie. It has the exact energy of when its like, 2 am, and you’re desperately staring at your closet because you’re terrified that is you look away, you’ll look back and see something there. Despite ALL odds, despite how it’s PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, so you’re constantly on the edge of your seat wondering if it’s going to appear again, because if it nothing was stopping it before, nothing will stop it again.
Those Nights at Rachel’s slipped my mind, but being reminded of it gave me a MASSIVE wave of nostalgia!! Including all the jokes that I had a fursona that came with it lmao, since Rachel is my birth name
i've been supporting Nikson since before the man released the banger of a game called TJOC this man's SFMs were legendary
this game was ported to roblox as "Forgotten Memories" and it is honestly a really cool fan made (?) port, its also multiplayer and ads new features, so it feels different from the original game
also; the bonnie in the game does the infamous punch animation just like in tjoc lol
I remember loving this game when I was little and was disappointed that it got such little coverage, because I think it still holds up in quality even now. Glad to see it getting some love years later

The punching jumpscares are so goddamn goofy but they end up being scary in their own way somehow despite the sillyness
They're funny because of the nature of it but it's also scary in the sense that there's *no* way you'd survive getting right hooked at full speed by this metallic thing

Ok but not only is Nixon great at creating serious fangames like those nights at Rachel's and TJOC but my god his joke game those nights at Rachel's 2 reloaded is like my favorite non-serious fnaf fangame the first time shooting at the slowly t-posing animatronics moving towards you is too damn funny

10:00 It makes sense to have two animatronics per door with one being more aggressive than the other so there's one harassing you all the time while you know you're still not safe when the aggressive one moved away

An intresting fact is: Forgotten Memories's office has almost an identical layout, both having 2 doors, an table in a corner and, most important a place where to close the curtains to evade an animatronic(Puppet, or here "The THING"
i loved Those Nights at Rachel's and it's nice to see someone talk about it over The Joy of Creation.
i remember being so confused as to why this was never more popular, i suppose because tjoc overshadowed it by a lot. it's very underrated and i wish there was a sequel to it and that the game will get more popular even if it's been a while

I remember these games being in development and the release of them as well, I was sad that Those Nights at Fredbear's was canceled as I remember the trailers and kept up with the news on its development, but I'm glad he didn't let that deter him from creating a wonderful game still with Rachel's and the plentiful Joy of Creation games lol, I also remember back before watching his funny animations with Bonzi Bonnie, so it's wonderful seeing how far he's gotten from an animator to beloved game developer.
I remember hearing about "Those nights at Rachels" as being the FNAF fan game with the scariest jumpscares out of every fan game that was out at the time, scared the hell out of me when I saw it for the first time 💀
you should totally cover the Dayshift at Freddy's Trilogy, its an underrated masterpiece of an rpg take on fnaf.

There was also just the free roam scavenger hunt version of TJOC, that being _Reborn,_ which I’m fairly certain was the one that really put Nikson on the map in terms of his fan game projects before Story Mode.

I remember TNAR being one of the first FNaF Fangames that I played, and I vividly remember not knowing what the hell I was supposed to do with a rar file.

I fully agree with a lot of your critiques! 2 animatronics for each door who don't do any different makes the nights just a tad more boring, especially when 1-3 animatronics never even show up (the bunny, the raccoon, and the bull)! What's the point in adding characters if they're so non-aggressive they never show up during all 5 nights? I'd get never showing up in like 1-2 nights but Racheal and the raccoon not showing up for you in all 5 is crazy!
And lastly the control dump on night 1..Everyone I've watched play it got stumped and overwhelmed on night 1 then didn't know how to properly play as they got control dumped on in night 1 then no refreshers after that. It'd be helpful if controls were split up between 2 nights! Like night 1 you focus on Doug and Racheal, and the thing; night 2 could add in the other door and the raccoon (except make him more aggressive, barely showing up is sad for how much work was put into him). It'd slowly bleed all mechanics together so you can adjust to using all of them, throwing everything at the player at once will guarantee they'll end up in situations where they forgot mechanics and controls which later kills them and frustrates them!
You're also right that the other animatronics don't quite fit the same style as Doug and Racheal. I mean we have 2 cute pet animatronics and then 2 ugly livestock based ones and a sticky trash cowboy (seriously, nothing else is western themed as everyone else is wearing classy ties and bowties, why a dirty roughed up cowboy)? If the theme is somewhat poorly western themed (the diner doesn't fit that) then how tf does the thing fit in?! I love the thing but it's so out of place from the rest, more out of place than everything already is! I feel the theming could be a bit better.
I literally remember Rachels more than Popgoes, but less than Final Nights, Flumty's and Candy
So I still dont know why Pop was chosen over any of the Others (exept Flumtys)

Scott actually originally wanted Final Nights in the Fanverse, But the creator didn't see the email until after the Fanverse announcement.

Those nights at Rachel’s is my favorite fan game and still is for years I’m surprised it’s not more popular than candys and popgoes I guess candys makes sense since it the first and has many games but it deserves popularity
funny enough, as a kid Rachel Rabbit was the name of my OC, who also happened to have purple eyes and grey fur. I was SO CONVINCED Nikson had stole it from me and was so pissed for like months. I was like 11 lmao
I remember how I found out about Rachel's. I was watching one of those Fnaf characters sing the Fnaf song but instead with Fnac characters, and then this random image of Rachel showed up with her name on it. And she came right after the Rat, so for a couple of months I thought Rachel was just like a genderbent version of the Rat. (Which also led me to thinking that Rachel's was a Fnac game)
In terms of good 3D FNaF Fan-Games, do you consider taking a look at the Five Nights at the Krusty Krab Trilogy? Save for the first game, the sequels Chum Bucket and Chapter 3 take the Realtime 3D sit-n-survive concept of Rachel's but just better.

THANK YOU, I was looking for this game but couldn’t remember what it was called, I watched it many years ago and then forgot about it and then Forgotten Memories started to blown up on roblox so I played it a bit and I recognized the office and a bit of the map and remembered seeing it in a different game years ago and couldn’t find it but this has finally gotten me the closure I needed so thank you a lot.

I remember seeing this game when it first came out and thought it was super cool, sucks the community around it has died down to such an extent.
I never played either, my computer would most likely blow up when trying to get the title screen of either game, I would like to try them though, I never forgot about Those Nights at Rachel’s, just pushed to the back of mind

If I knew how to make a FNAF fan game I’d add a jumpscare where the animatronic will sit and wait for you to turn around bc I find that so much scarier when you turn around and they’re just *there*

my first ever fnaf fan game was those nights at Rachels and while i am sad that the game doesn't get as much love as it should it really was a huge game for the time and honestly i don't know if fnaf as a whole would be as good as it is without this game

Fun Fact: i havent beaten TJOC:SM yet. In fact, i havent even beaten the first night, even after knowing the mechanics. I mostly die by the sanity going down or when more than one appear. (Bonnie Appearing when Freddy is active, Freddy appearing when Foxy is active, etc)

Hey man,could you do a video on Super fnaf?its a 2-3 hour long minigame like fnaf fan-game (duh) which basically covers the fnaf 1 story.it has alot of effort put into it,and a sequel that has basically been in works for over a year
