  • Whoa! In this video we cover some serious ground. We're going to build a web form in Visual Studio, provision space in Azure for the web site and a SQL database, build the application back end in SQL Server Management Studio, and then publish it all to Azure and test it out. Best of all, we are going to do the whole thing for FREE!

    Awesome! Thanks a lot for showing the overall process! This is extremely useful for me, a beginner, as it let me know-before diving into learning a bunch of theory or fundamentals for languages or services or apps I don’t necessarily need-real-world examples of Azure, SQL, etc., can help me achieve. And guess what? This is exactly the types of things I want to do with websites/apps. So now I’ll go learn Azure, SQL, etc. Thanks a lot!

    *EDIT* For anyone who wants to return/get output values from their stored parameter, use
    SqlCommand *cmdname* = new SqlCommand("*procname*", *connectionname*);
    selectdefault.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    instead of SqlCommand *cmdcname* = new SqlCommand("EXEC *proc* etc...
    It'll save you some time.

But if I take now the connection string from azure sql in my aspx, my user is rejected. But I applyed the firewall settings you mentined in the tutorial. At the moment I'm quit helpless how to connect to azure sql. What have I done wrong? Thx for the answer. Sinserly K.

      @sweetvoodoo3192 Před 4 lety +1

      For dynamic websites you must always make sure server connection is available otherwise site will not function. When you publish you are basically deploying a "hopefully" working version of the site. Think in terms of deploying an app in app store. You can and should make changes as you see fit but you'll have to do another publish.

    o.k. guys after several hours of search: it is not that simple like shown in th tutorial. One has to create a user and login via sql and use them for the connstring. Furthermore one has to make a route to the web page. Simple deleting the default page will just provide errors. If all of this is done, than finally the result like shown above is produced. But nothing the less "ITinspired" did a great job with the tutorial:)

    It’s a pity you didn’t think about the size of font in your demo. You focus on an area less that one third of the screen making it impossible to follow on a small laptop or iPad. Think about your audience accessibility when producing video then the quality of your work can be better appreciated 👎
