Friday morning and my weekend is already complete. I've been waiting for this reaction since seeing the video for the first time last week, and it didn't disappoint. Your smiles in the opening parts of the song mirrored mine during my first listen. I can't even count how many times I've watched this video so far, and I fully expect this album will be a contender for album of the year.

The frontman was very inspired by the fact that there is eternal silence outside our planet. Johannes also mentioned that this song expresses the main idea of the album - the cyberpunk future, which the band Fear Factory warned about 30 years ago. And in the clip there is a typical Avatar theme of fighting inner demons.
Polaroids are just a brilliant idea!🥰Johannes filmed it at home (by night in park 😆 with his wife as a film crew) in Finland in April, by the way. Band performance filmed in March before ride in Russia in 2020. Choir scream SILENCE was recorded at the final concert of the Avatar Country tour in San Francisco on October 4, 2019.
“Initially we did an entirely different music video [for ‘Silence In The Age Of Apes’] but we had this idea that in hindsight is scary how well it fits with what is happening this year due to the pandemic,” Eckerström explains. “It would confront us with the reason if we had two weeks left to live. Two minutes you would call your mom, two years you carry on as normal, but two weeks? That’s a good question. We did a whole story with actors who dealt this in different ways [the imminent end of the world], but when it came to editing it wasn’t strong enough. We started over when the pandemic hit and since I live in Finland and the other guys are in Sweden I had to invent something at home. We had to re-film the entire thing and I had to do my part from my house. We have a really cool part that I’m singing through these polaroids and we would not have come up with that if we were together. I do not hate things with strict limitations. It pushes your creative boundaries.”
Yeр, unlike the Colossus, they had to reshoot the meaning part, whereas in the Colossus - the performance of the band like the holograms. Main riff wait for use kinda about 20 years, since first Avatar days.
By the way, rejected clip idea turned into On the Beach song! From Dance Devil Dance album 2023. Based on self-titled novel by Nevil Shute. Last months of few humankind in nuclear apocalypse.

There's a Revolver article somewhere and Johannes says the main riff came from a side project of his 10 years ago. It got tweaked and updated but cool none the less.
I wonder at the Antonio's rapid growth. First video I've seen was Fleshgod Apocalypse The Violation reaction (still one of my favorites) - go and see how he looked. Just a couple of years ago, almost yesterday. And now he've got his stature, voice and beard over there. :)

I've seen avatar twice now, with Trivium in 2018 and with Babymetal last year. Definitely the best band I've ever seen live for sure
I am SOO FRIKKIN EXCITED! I am also one of those avatar fans (which i think most avatar fans are) I love THE BAND rather than any specific music they make. They said this is NOT the heaviest song on the album. But they also said they have some of the most calm songs they've ever done on the album :) But the darkest album yet. I'm really sitting hard on the opinion that this is THE best, most kickass fucking metal song of 2020.
Henrik's bass tone and riffs are so disgusting honestly he is what I think makes the band so heavy. 3:58 - 4:28 Jesus Christ he makes it so thick and chuggy
