Kody and Meri both said he refused to be intimate with her for 8-10 years before the catfish incident. She said she just wanted him to hug her or hold her hand but he would turn his back on her at night. Why did he even get in bed with her-- for show so the other wives would still think he was a real stud?

    • @juliewhite7469
      @juliewhite7469 Před 2 měsíci +17

His behavior towards Meri was reprehensible imho. I honestly think he enjoyed being cruel to her. It made him feel powerful, when his actions really reveal his moral weakness. To deny her the simple affection of an embrace knowing how much she needs his love is disgusting.
I don't think anyone owes anyone else sexual intimacy, however. There are many marriages where sexual attraction fades or goes through different "seasons" especially as people age. It is possible to live as emotional companions with true affection and love. Kody seems to reject Meri MORE because she is devoted to him.

A couple (sort of random) comments: 1. As a trans guy, I really appreciate you guys talking so respectfully about Leon from earlier in the show!! It’s so weird whenever I hear people refer to me as a child as “she” or by my deadname… I know people don’t usually mean any harm by it but it’s so weird feeling like I’m two different people.. like I’m the same person i just looked different back then 😅 I can’t imagine if all these strangers were able to see me pre transition 😟 you still referring to them as they want to be referred to now made me happy and I’m not even the one you were talking about 😅 just thought I’d share that :) and 2. You guys got engaged on my birthday LOL you picked a good day 🤞 just found y’all’s channel like a week ago and have been binge watching / listening to pods while I work ever since

On the show I thought Meri apologized 3 times. Off air prob 30 more times! I wish Meri would have emphasized WHY! Sacred Loneliness is impossible!
Meri should have left Kody after catfishing she stalled her life for 10 years and no good came from it but she cried and was heartbroken, Meri could be healed with therapy and the catfish well in the past!

If she does it's never been mentioned. Robyn won't even respond when someone says Hi or waves to her.

If there had been a close relationship between Meri, Cody and the sister wives the catfish incident would probably never have happened. There is a book about incorporating some aspects of arranged marriages into love marriages. Your marriage has some aspects of an arranged marriage. You choose who you marry, but the bride and groom already understand aspects of married life, such as dating, marriage timing, children, finances, creating a home, religious beliefs, commitment in bad times, etc. These are things that participants in love marriages rarely discuss and end up causing serious problems. Marriage timing is an important consideration. When a couple dates for a long time before marriage, the bride and groom should consider whether one or both aren't committed to marriage. Is it really important to them? Or are they getting married because it is expected of them after 5 years of dating?

Who was the apostle Peter, who said he received a revelation, that all of the former unclean things as far as the dietary restrictions, or no longer to be used. And I think Peter said that the reason those things were changed is because Jewish Christians, who still held adherence to the original law, were holding themselves out as more righteous than gentile Christians, who didn’t abide by such things, and it was causing people to have a class system, and be less than and not understand that the blood of Jesus Christ was supposed to be sufficient as an atonement for them that they aren’t supposed to have to work to earn their salvation anymore

Regarding the pork, under the New Covenant there was no longer the need to do certain things that were specifically meant to set the Israelites apart and cleanse them in that manner. A lot of things they did were either to preserve them as a people (due to lack of ways to clear out bacteria and such). But another big thing to understand about the Old Testament is that so much of it is really A Narrative of man's attempt to gain their own righteousness through rituals and God continues to show them that there is no way that they can be completely cleansed through specific rituals, and at major points all throughout history there are things that point them to the need for a Savior. Think of the story of Abraham and Isaac going up to the mountain. He specifically promised Abraham that he would have many descendants through Isaac, but yet he asked him to to go up to the mountain to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham knew what God had promised. This is not God co-signing killing your child, but rather God was creating a metaphor for his people of what he planned to do for them. These 'Christ-types" and metaphors are throughout the narratives of the OT and it's astounding how it all ties together through multiple different people - not one or a few men coming up with a cool story that ties together. He was faithful from the beginning to prophesy to them that he would provide the sacrifice for them. But in the meantime they would do things (such as separate grain types and not eat pork) to constantly remind them that they were set apart from the Pagan people. And even with all those reminders they continued to prostitute themselves out to other gods and forget about what God had done. But once Jesus came, he was the ultimate High Priest. there was not the same need to be set apart in the same way and also laws that were made for the sake of cleanliness were able to be shifted due to their purpose being to preserve the people of God and civilization advances.
I really encourage you guys to read thoroughly through the New Testament in a Modern translation if you havent yet! There is a great Podcast plan called the Bible Recap. Gives you a plan to either read through the entire Bible or just the New Testament and gives some short insight each day.
Mark 7:14-23 "Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”
After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come-sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Acts 15 is the meeting where the disciples changed the dietary laws followed by the Jews. The Gentile believers were accustomed to eating pork and other forbidden foods along with not adhering to circumcision. The church was new and needed to adapt to new Christians. The only laws they kept were not eating foods offered to idols and purity laws. It's a great passage to study.

Dietary laws still apply to this day for any Jewish person, for those grafted in through belief in Jeshua, we can choose to adhere to as much of the Torah commands for the jewish people but we are not commanded to adhere to them as they are, Jesus didn't do away with the old testament but He fulfilled it and brought a true understanding of the love of His father to it to give us all an opportunity to be a part of the kingdom to come. many parts of the old testament commands can not be operated on due to the lack of having a temple to perform them. choosing to be in unity with something that has been occurring for centuries is just a wonderment to me and I love all that it contains.

At the 11 minute mark, you said you couldn't understand why Janelle was okay with Logan having a different morality. I think she was substituting the word "morality" for "religion" as I think she raised all of her kids to be fundamentally good people with a good "morality" but if he was breaking away from Mormon fundamentalism, she was okay with that. She knew that he was still a good person who had good values. He just didn't believe that you need to be in a plural marriage to get into heaven.

Jesus came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it Matthew 5:17 Also in Acts 10:11,15 Peter had a vision of all the unclean animals being lowered from heaven in a sheet and God told Peter to kill and eat them. Peter declined 3 times but God said do not refuse what God has made clean.

In the New Testament Jesus says I didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. And he almost made things more difficult. For example he says it’s been said do not commit adultery but I say if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery in your heart. But in the book of Acts an angel came to Peter and said kill and eat (the animals that were forbidden in the Old Testament ) so at that point we were free to eat those animals. Circumcision was also no longer required as well. Gal 5 is all about being free from circumcision and the law but also that our freedom comes from living according to the spirit. And if we are living according to the spirit we shouldn’t be desiring to fulfill sinful desires. Christianity is not about rules but about freedom in Christ. An example of this are groups (like the Duggars IBLP ) who bring back a lot of rules to follow but this is actually not the message of the gospel. Their daughters book speaks to that (becoming free indeed )

If they really wanted to heal they need to step away from the show. And live separate lives. If polygamy was God's plan for them it would look like it. It looks more like an eighty long car train wreck. The cars full of jet fuel.
