    Hi.
    With these same Motorola radios I could reach much further than the 0.5mile you cover there. I normally go for a dog walk around 4 miles away from home, within the city I live in the UK, with trees in the walking area.
    Depending on where you are, static noise can be picked up when sitting close of interferers, like lights, data boxes. But if you move away from there you could communicate up to 4miles, ish :)

      Thats more of what I was expecting and hoping to get as well ,I’ve tried in different type of areas as well. That’s impressive ,wonder what makes the difference.

      in the country you will get 2 miles and maybe a little more in the city you will get less than two miles that is what my radios go and I have f r s and G M R S which have and
      hold a license I know what my radios do and don't do I work in a museum and
      my use of family service is a remote speaker that works fine.

      all F R S AND G M R S radio operate the same f r s is 2 miles line of site
      G M R S 5 watts out put on ht's and 20 miles or more with a repeter

    rated at a mile on a half of a watt transmitter will make it to the mail box for shure

  • @bev8200
    @bev8200 Před 5 měsíci +2

    If you do it on an frs channel it transmits at .5 watts. If you redo the test on a gmrs channel it will transmit at 2 watts.

    • @donalderickson-si8ww
      @donalderickson-si8ww Před 4 měsíci

      that is wrong that radio work's at 5 watts on g m r s channels then you will average 20 miles off one repeater alone I do 6 cover three county's
      and yes I have a license to do it

    Kansas is NOT flat. I have no idea why that is rumored to be. Flat is Florida or New Orleans or something like that. Kansas is very much NOT flat. Towards Colorado, the hills become more subtle, but no where near flat. Being from Kansas, It feels VERY strange when I am in an area that is all flat. Like being in Arkansas where they grow rice or anywhere near the gulf cost. I can't speak to SW Kansas, though. I'm never in that corner of the state.

      My apologies,the parts I’ve been to were extremely flat and wide open with fifty cows trying to get under one tree for shade,it was in the southwest of Kansas and Northwest part of Oklahoma. I like that part of the country though,best sunrises I have ever seen,beautiful.

    i got a pair of these so i could leave them in the trunk in case of emergency.
    quite honestly i'm not sure i bought the right thing. i don't need all these fancy menu options, just push to talk with long range.
    any users here have a suggestion for me to replace these with?

    • @akafletcherforever
      @akafletcherforever  Před 14 dny

      They are pretty simple and hold a decent charge when they are off. Motorola and cobra both offer those of course you’re gonna get what you pay for so always have to keep that in mind.
