Why don’t you answer questions on the DC inverter you recommended? Numerous people have asked if the DC inverter you recommended will work on their cigarette lighter in their car with a Bluetti. Shame on you!
1
Hey Professor Hobo. There is a thing I've been trying to figure out for awhile and don't have the test tools, perhaps you could help. I have an early ecoflow and am happy with it. Heres the question, if I have a load on the inverter AND all the solar input panels recommended on a sunny day in full sun, whats going on in there as far as power distribution? Watts out will likely exceed watts in but are the panels taking some of the load or is it all battery? Is there anyway to find out? Does this question even make sense? My wife and I have enjoyed your reviews for awhile now. We bought an overland trailer a couple years ago and your gear reviews we find entertaining as well as informative.
O K , WHATS THE PRICE ?? HOW 2 GET 1.??
I watched the whole thing. This goes to show Mr Hobo goes straight to business
You have to just really like this man. He is so thorough, and cool AF.
Excellent, real world load testing, thank you. I'm leaning against buying the Ultra, mainly because additional batteries are $2799 right now. I've shared your video with a friend who lives in a condo. I see this as helpful for him. I love the design, it's brilliant, especially compared to the Delta Pro two battery configuration. This footprint is much smaller. Ecoflow did a great job.
A lot of this is "over my head", BUT as a team Ecoflow person ... super info! I look forward to the Spring redo with release units :) Thanks Professor Hobo!! And cheers to Odi from Oscar the super mouser in NW Montana.
As a few others have said, I'm SO sorry about your tablet, Prof. HOBO. That said, another awesome video. I watch a few channels in this genre, but none do I anticipate so highly as yours. Even when the product doesn't interest me itself. This is a great beast, but I don't see myself shelling out for higher than an AC200L anytime soon. Still, it's fascinating to watch the progression of sophistication of these devices. Thank you for keeping us info-tained for 30-90 minutes each upload. 😊
Thanks!
One of the best reviews of the 50 plus other CZcamsrs that received an EcoFlow promo beta units, kudos to you. Please do a in-depth follow-up on a smart panel 2 and all of the geeky capabilities for on grid and off-grid that it can do
Curious who's is best? I will do a fup on the panel.
Great review, Professor. It’s out of my price range (I’m stuck at the 2400w level). It’s still amazing how far this tech has come in 4 years!
maybe in another 4 years it will be afordable to us mortals :)
4yrs later
We can get a 50% discount and Finally buy this irrespective of the Tech ones coming 😅
@@ebubennadi8247 doesnt work like that with phones and pcs tho does it? they just stop making old ones and have new ones same price :)
Isn’t it ironic that the tesla cybertruck is probably now the biggest ecoflow competitor? The ecoflow can scale to 90kW of battery storage while the cybertruck stores 123kW. The ecoflow inverter can scale to 21kW while the cybertruck “only” can output 11.5kW. Both have remote everything, heat and cool themselves, and are designed for longevity. The ecoflow would cost approximately $50,000 in this configuration while the cybertruck is $80,000. One looks pretty up against a wall and the other is completely mobile - you can drive it wherever you need that amount of storage and power. Crazy that this comparison might actually be something someone thinks about on the top end of battery storage.
I mean they both have wheels 😂
I'll take the cybertruck. So useful. Already ordered, and it will power my camper JUST fine. Add all the solar on top and we're golden
You conveniently left out the $5-10k+ additional cost getting vehicle to home system built. 123kW massive battery that lasts 250 miles. Almost 90k after taxes, will depreciate by 50% in 2 years like most Teslas/EVs so maybe at that point Cybertruck may be worth considering.
@@MaxCaud Actually the cybertruck doesn’t need anything more than the standard wall connector to get 11.5kWh out of it. Just like with ecoflow, the home smart panel stuff is optional and not required for straightforward use.
The Japanese already using the concept of cars being mobile batteries that are grid compatible, seems like a good idea.
My order shipped out yesterday for this product. Looking forward to it.
How is it going?
Great video as usual! You answered one of the huge questions I have on the Delta Pro Ultra versus the Delta Pro. By showing the sine wave when you switched from pass through to inverting on the 20 millisecond UPS switchover the sine wave has no phase shift. That has been a big problem for many of us using the Delta Pro when running refrigerators and air conditioners. When the switchover happens, if the sine wave does not remain in Phase you can get rotor lock in your compressor which is super hard on the start relay and compressor. It is fantastic to see EcoFlow has solved this issue! With the 0ms outlets and this in phase 20ms outlets this unit TRULY is a game changer! I have one on the way from Costco with 3 batteries so we'll see.
This is the most honest. Everyone else who tested this swore it could run an entire house, jumbo jet and light up all Singapore after a mere 15 minute power up from a 10w solar panel. And it’d run fine for 5 years.
This is the only review out of 10 where people learn. No it’ll shut down. You wanna run your central ac during peak hours. Nope.
So this was great.
😂
i watched a bunch of reviews on this unit, and didn't see anyone exaggerate to the level you described. maybe there is one niche reviewer that said this, but one person a representation does not make. Especially when other reviewed this with the transfer switch and smart panel, it was pretty clear you could put only so much on it.
and you're wrong about not being able to run central AC (though it will not run for too long). depending on the size and plus with a soft starter (if necessary), it can run. But this system could scale to accommodate such situation, especially if using the smart panel and 2 (or even 3) of the delta pro ultras plus more batteries and solar to make it truly run all day, though if you're scaling up to that size I am start to wonder if your're better off with something like a true whole-home backup system like the anker solix x1 or Tesla powerwall, or heck a standy generator.
Nice job as always! Cheers Hobo from VT!
Dr Hobo - Thank you for the great look at OBPP (one big powerful prototype), way better than looking at YAP.
Appreciate your hard work to keep us in the know on what’s coming available, literally AS IT IS. Interesting that EF went the extra mile to have heating in the battery units. Great for quick install mobile power in a Class A/B/C, esp in a partly/not heated section of RV basement; the battery units will protect against cold charging damage. Sorry about the tablet - maybe EcoFlow will help out.
Thanks again!!
This is the only one of these units that I have seen anywhere, that has true UPS, which stands for Uninterruptible Power Supply, Emphasis on, "Uninterruptible"
All of the other's are not Uninterruptabl
They just transfer very fast, some more quickly than others, but this is completely glitch free, even the most critical loads will be completely safe on this unit, because the load actually never sees the line which means that it is protected from any high voltage spikes, way cool!!!!😊
Been waiting for you HOBOTECH, and Gavins Garage to present this powerful Ecoflow DPU 7.2K Wh...Bravo Zulu Sir. Hope to see Gavin do one soon in the near future, because the 2 of you content creators always have a fine presentation on the units you present, thats for sure.
I am a beta tester for the DPU, I can confirm that with the level 2 ev charging, you can charge at 7.2kw using the j1772 adapter and the correct charger. I can use a home level 2 charger hooked up to a dryer outlet and charge it within an hour.
Well that’s a pretty amazing unit. It’s what most people want in solar generator.
?????? "MOST"
Classic Professor, so informative and fun!!
Ecoflow reminds me of the early 80s with the BoomBox Battle. I mean JVC was KING back in the day with their JVC RC 550 gigantic single speaker with the smaller speakers surrounding it, and SHARP with their massive BoomBox with the double cassette player with slide equalizers, and tons of buttons to get the sound right. Ecoflow is King of the Wattages...just missing the fold up cardboard with vinyl flooring on it, and some Badass Break Dancing.
The most detailed CZcamsr. I was thinking ecoflow will stick to portability like make somethings x10 the ecoflow delta pro that someone can carry like a crane the same way we carry a diesel generator
Great video. Nice to see more powerful units coming out in the near future.
The nice thing is this should put a spark under Bluetti and others to come out with competing products to hopefully drive costs down. I already have a bluetti AC200Max - which can run most items in my house except the well pump. I would gladly replace that with something like this that can do split phase and meet all my needs. I know many of us who are interested in these generators are interested in well pump capability.
Always good to see the Jean-Luc Picard scene! 😂
I have this unit and wired into their smart panel 2. It works but it took a lot of fixes in the firmware. My house pulls about 1.5kW on a constant basis. I have one battery. It includes my 5 ton central AC unit and all the rest of the circuits in my home. I've tested it many times and it runs about 5-6 hours if I do nothing. If I plug in the panels (about 1800W total) and get judicious on what is running I can stretch that to maybe 9 hours. I'm not using the AC portion since it's wired right into the panel. I also got the hub that lets me plug in both older Delta Pros I had. That gives me about another 5kW. Gives me somewhere around 12-13 hours. That didn't work until the latest firmware updates though.
I've lost power on two occasions and it worked fine in both cases. Didn't even notice we had lost grid power until I got the notice. I can't speak to the RV or electric car charging as I don't have either of those.
I have a separate review with the home panel and mention it needs updated out of the box.
@@HOBOTECH Thanks! Just watched it. Great work!
Great review. I would love to see a video of this hooked to a main panel with an automatic transfer switch.
Just ordered one with your promocode. Hopefully they give you a little coin from my order :)
Excellent presentation. Thank you.
bms cutting out on high drain. I like your real world testing!
Great reveiw. Well done 👏
Great Video, more tests on this product please!
Would love to see video on smart home panel 2, specifically if it needs a cloud connection just to function / how much data it’s transmitting about your power consumption, etc.
33:54 That's kind of a bummer you can't charge with 240V with it powering a load. Thanks for the thorough review.
Excellent presentation. Thank you. Would love to this review in detail when it comes out if you can get one: Orion XS 12/12-50A DC-DC Battery Charger. Would like to see how truly efficient it is at various loads. Would also like to see how low the adjustable output is, if it can go below 1 amp and the granularity tested. This thing could be a real game-changer (even at lower outputs) if it works as the doc/manuals suggest.
Holy crap that thing is a beast
I always enjoy your presentations and reviews, I really want to know what is the brad for your AC to DC convertor and where I can get one?
Hmm, it seems nice, but I pre ordered the 13kw power wall for 8,400 each with 10 years of warranty. Buy more save more per power wall. 5600 with incentives. Installation is extra. But, it offers more.
I think I saw the prices on the Ecoflow for 6000 last year. 1000 off for early birds. 2800 for additional battery mods.
It would be nice to see on the average run time chart, a smaller mini-split ac/heat pump(9k btu) being this seems to be the future of HVAC. Great video, as usual!
Love ya hobo, you remind me of my ol school high school science teacher 😂
Great review. I suspect the 6400-watt limit is due to the battery limitation. It's pulling over 1C from the battery and so the battery is telling the inverter to shut down. I suspect you're correct with your theory of more battery will fix this.
This is a great unit at the price till you need to add more battery power. The batteries are quite high. I built my own 240v/48v/15.2kwh HBS.
It's a prototype test model. Jasonoid, another solar channel reviewed this today as well. He said he contacted Ecoflow about it and that was the response he got.
Thank you for such a thorough video. This is exactly what I was looking for. Debating between this or 2 Delta Pros. I can get this for $5k or 2 Delta Pros for about the same cost. Which would you go with?
Thank you sir for important information.
Nice to see that it offers real sine wave output (not simulated). When you do your follow-up review, maybe address how you would do surge suppression and preventing a lightning strike from turning the investment into landfill material. Hmm... 5-year financing and 3-year warranty.
Good idea. It's pretty simple to fuse solar. The warranty is in fact 5 years as stated in the video.
@@HOBOTECH Ahh... I was interested in a different use-case - using the Smart Home Panel in conjunction with the Delta Pro Ultra as an on-grid power backup. The Smart Home Panel has just 3 years according to EcoFlow's website.
@@C3Cooper Okay the Smart Home Panel "2" in fact has 10 years warranty. You're talking about the old stuff.
If feels like there is literally 100s of reviews on this product online over the last 24 hours. I have seen 12+ of them personally. Yours is, as usual, one of the most complete and informative. Thank you for all you hard work over the years.
Does the 240v output work when charging with 240v. I think I heard you say no but my use case would be a 50amp RV and plug into campground electrical at 50a with adaptor but run RV off 240v 30amp DPU outlet. Will that work>
Finally, the professor has spoken!!!
If it lets you, do the AM Radio test and EMF checks with the display off.
Those displays are notorious for noise and tricky to control.
Thank you for the video.
Loving your extensive reviews, Professor! If you have some time, could you look into the VDL HS2400? I believe it’s their newest flagship power station.
question: will it 'or can it be charge from, or by a wind generator ?
I have tried to find a power adaptor to make this run a 240V US electric drier and can not seem to find one and the wheels/cart to help in moving this unit around and no such luck. Any help would be appreciated
is the ecoflow dual fuel generator compatible to charge this DPU with a DC to dc connection? I never see the 2 Ecoflex products mentioned together.
Combo is $5799 with 1 battery and additional batteries are $2999.
It is a hefty price tag.
EG4 8kw inverter is $1500
EG4 5kw server rack is $1500
So for the combo price ($5799) you could get a EG4 15kwh system. Same 15kwh batteries from EcoFlow would cost $9000.
I guess the 240v output is that makes it interesting.
Great review. I have a tri-fuel generator that cost less than $1,000 that can run my 240v well pump, heating system and most lights. ** BUT ** if i'm out of town and there's a blizzard or noreaster causing a power outage- I'd much prefer this sitting in my garage plugged into the transfer switch so my wife or kids just has to turn it on. The alternative is she'd have to pull a heavy generator outside and attach to a propane tank or fill with gasoline. Also - after going through a week long outage 2 years in a row due to storms- the amount of gas & propane i now keep on hand is problematic. This is what I've been waiting for.
Not to mention a fuel generator alerts every criminal in town that you have power and a stockpile of fuel to steal.
Spend twice as much and put in a 26KW Generac. Your wife will thank you and it will run for 4 to 5 days if warranted. Save the $5K you would have spent on this and sell the other tri fuel jenny for $500 and you will have a 10-15 year solution.
@@busterhyman6633 maybe if I’m on ng, but I’m on propane. Wouldn’t be enough to run it for two days. I’ve already had outages that lasted more than a week. With a generac there’d be no propane to cook with so after only 2 days the problem is now much worse.
I received my DPU on Thursday and there are two things I have questions about. When I use the 240v/30a output, which is tied to a transfer switch, the input wattage won't go above 281 watts. This is with inputting the grid power only (120v). I have my charging rate set to 1,200 watts which, does work with the 120v/30a output but not the 240-volt plug. The other thing is when the generator (120/30a output) reaches 100%, it seems to change from AC only(grid) to battery/inverter. When it does this it trips my UPSs into battery mode for 1 second. I can see it on the app, when it hits 100%, the input voltage goes to 0 and it then transfers and interrupts the power very quickly. and the Smart UPS catches it and switches to battery and back to AC. Would you check that on your unit and let me know if you are seeing the same thing?
I too miss Burl Ives. He was the quintessential folk song singer and showman.
Great intro sfx!!
I currently have a delta pro with on additional battery, is there any way possible I can connect to the new delta pro ultra to utilize the system i already have. This application i will not be using a home panel to feed my home. My plan is a standalone system to take into the field.
EcoFlow DPU is definitely feature rich. I have 8 EcoFlow products when I count the extra batteries. The only feature missing is the direct DC charging of batteries from their EcoFlow smart generator. With all the built in charging capabilities I guess its not needed. Everyone I know with 240VAC needs are to provide power to their well water pumps. I have had no issues monitoring my EcoFlow units with their App.
The first solar/powerstation I purchased was a Goal Zero Lithium 1400 For $1800.00 in June 2019. Do the math. It is still functional but its features are no where near the capabilities of todays products.
Good stuff. Thanks for the solid information 👌
Hi Professor Hobo, I have a question if I have 7200W solar panel installed, which is over 4000 w max high voltage PV input, even combine with the 1600 w max low voltage PV input, seems it is not possible to connect it all to the DPU? Should I need 2 DPU runs parallel? Hope can get your input. Thanks!🥰
Holy cow! for a full setup with 3 inverters and 15 battery modules, that's 796lbs or 361kg! 800lbs is a lot of weight to place in one spot on your floor. However, it is totally worth it for true peace of mind!
If you were going to get a system that large, it would be best in a garage or on a concrete pad. They do give off heat so that's another install consideration.
@@HOBOTECHwhat is your favorite whole home system that isn't going to take that many batteries and inverters? I live in Las Vegas so it gets hot I need the ability to use some kind of small air conditioner if I need to contain myself in one room. What air conditioner would you use and what is the best all-around solar generator
@HOBOTECH where can I find the DPU dog bone generator adapter. Can’t seem to find it anywhere
I need a 22 kw whole house backup solution. General offers a $5500 product plus about $2000 install fee plus taxes plus permit plus any changes to gas line hookup plus shipping. I estimate about $9000. What type of configuration would be required for this product to compare to general solution?
I have a eco flow river pro and would like a video on how to safely “over panel” one so that you can (more commonly) get the max solar charge, without damaging the unit.
Maybe it exceeds amperage on one phase in 240v connector?
@29:44
Can you confirm or test that the backup UPS that bypasses the battery is somehow converting 120v to 240v? You have it plugged in to a 120v, but didn't test the 240v out.
Great review on the Big N Heavy! Not cheap but long over due. Please send me the sample. LOL
I'm waiting for the Delta Pro Ultra...Deluxe Premier Gold Titanium Platinum Max, with a light.
You forgot the Delta Pro Ultra Mega 😂
Good stuff sir! 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Looks like the front bumper of the cybertruck.
Funny looking thing it is.
Good job 👍🏼
The only thing that bugs me is no option to hook up the Smart Generator and Wave to it. I realize this is aimed at the whole house backup market which I think is awesome.
Looks sweet! 😊
I have the same setup it's just two ecoflow Delta Pros together. They have wheels on them and 7200 wh. But I only paid $3,800.
If you got two of those for $3800, that's a deal.
Where did you get two plus the connecting cable for that price?Best price I've seen delta pro was $2350 for one unit and I've been watching closely.
Always the most thorough reviews 👊👍👍👍
Thank you very much
Can you charge the eco delta pro ultra with a EG4 LL-S Lithium Battery 48V 100AH Server Rack Battery through the solar port. The Delta Pro ultra says 150v 15 amp. Will the EG4 battery mess up the delta Pro Ulta BMS?
How long would it take to charge with solar?
Always great videos....any chance you could make a video on your "fake solar simulator setup"? And could that setup be powered by a 36v battery? Thanks
Is this "pass through" charging capable (in all charging modes)?
Wow! This is da BEAST!!! 👍😊
6400W makes sense for prototype. About a 1C discharge
Thank you
Hi professor! I was hoping you would test the A/C charging while outputting 240v. I heard that’s possible with this unit.
I do this in the follow up video with the home panel 2.
I want to run my desktop Computer or 2 on a solar generator 24/7 with Solar & A/C plugged in at the same time. I want it to run on solar power but have the A/C power kick in if the battery gets too low. Can this unit (or any unit) do this??
Yes, this can be setup to charge with grid under a certain battery %.
I got this with 5 batteries to charge my EV. Well not so fast. The 240 outlet will not work with my home chargers, ugh! They require a ground neutral bond and there isn’t one. I have the unit grounded with the ground screw and rod but still no go. A work-around is a bonded plug into a 120 allows it to work but you can’t plug the unit into a wall, doesn’t like it and gives a fault on home charger. I bought EcoFlow’s ground neutral adapter but doesn’t work with ultra. Also, without the bonding plug, I keep getting error code 274 with a small load and plugged in wall. More ugh…still troubleshooting.
Hi HoboTech
Many thanks for all your help with the solar videos.
What kind of Solar panels and how many panels would be needed to charge this to 100% everyday??
Many thanks HoboTech for all your help and professionalism.
Thank you again
God Bless
1000w of solar on a perfect day would charge 1 battery in 6 hours. Recommendations at gohobo.io/store
@@HOBOTECHso how many panels do you need to keep it going so it stays charged putting the max load on it ? I would love to have a refrigerator and a small air conditioning unit attached to it as well as other small devices
Would it be bad to set these up in hot Houston garages? Or is it better to keep them indoors?
It will be fine in a garage.
No connector for the "small" Ecoflow batteries / to power the Wave 2 pretty much all day?
Surprisingly, no. Although maybe they'll design an adapter for the battery port that can do that.
Looks like a good unit.
I think they should offer the 240V as a standalone unit.
Umm ... it is a standalone 240v unit! That was the entire video!
