    I have both, crowson for my home theater, and buttkicker for my family room. Tactically they are both the same. Just different ergonomics and shape. Now when it comes to Auro and Dayton both have different feel compared to the crownson and buttkicker, as they are attached directly to your couch. But between the butts and the crows both are identical IMHO

    If I understand that view of the underside of your Valencia Tuscany seat, it has 8 feet. Two under each armrest and four under the seat. Why did you choose the two rear armrest feet for the Crowsons instead of the two rear seat feet? Seems like the seat feat would transmit the energy to your body better than through the armrests.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Před 3 lety

      I chose the 2 armrests because this way some of the sensation is transferred to the seats on either side of the MLP. There is still PLENTY of TR for the MLP, as a matter of fact, I don't have them turned up anywhere near max. If you turn it up too much, the synergy just isn't there between the Crowsons and the subs.

    • @noneofyourbusiness4433

      @@SpecOfTech Thanks for the reply. Like many decisions it comes down to personal preference and other things like what works best with existing equipment. This video was the first time I saw the underside of a Tuscany. My guess is that the feet under the seat will bear more weight (when the chair is occupied) than the armrest feet. And I assume that putting the Crowsons under the seat would better connect with the person. If only using one Crowson per chair I'd guess it would be even more advantageous to put it under the seat.

I know some transducers mounted on the risers can be felt across all seats on the risers, I am curious if 4 of these would accomplish the same across the 7 seats (3 theater seats and 4 authentic cinema seats). @SpecOfTech  Před 2 lety

      Glad it was helpful for you! Yes the Tuscany's with 2 armrests will have 8 feet and the chair with 1 armrest will have 6. You will require a 1" foot replacement for every foot on the chair. If you are looking to save a little money on feet, what you could do is just replace all the front feet if your Crowsons are to be placed in front, or all the back feet if your Crowsons will be placed in the back. This way you don't have to replace all the back feet or all the front feet depending where you place the Crowsons. I did have the Crowsons under the armrests with my previous chairs. With the new Ultimate Luxury chairs I placed the Crowsons under the front metal frame, and I prefer them under the frame. I find it gives a better response to be under the frame since all the weight of the chair is supported there. The armrests don't support much of the chair weight so it wasn't quite as effective.

      Haha, I was probably talking to fast as usual. I didn't save $60 on the feet, I spent about $60 total on all 22 feet that were needed. If I were to buy the Sorbathane feet from Crowson, it would have been $660 USD total. So I saved $600 on the feet. I just didn't see the benefit of spending another $600, especially when I already get more than enough TR with the cheaper feet. The Sorbathane feet probably would give you more TR, but I honestly didn't need more TR, I don't even have them turned all the way as is. For $600 you could buy another actuator which would be a better option than the feet, in my opinion.

    You should try q10b earthquakes much more accurate than buttkicker and others. Buttkickers more of a shaker felt like fairground ride gimmicky whereas q10b is more like a subwoofer extension you cant tell something under you unless your told you think its the sub but i know dual sb16s cant do that. Ive heard great about the crowsons. Ive never tried as it wouldnt work on my large ushaped sofa but someone who had both said they were as accurate as crowsons. You should try them for a review they really need the xj700 dsp earthquake class j amp with its own curve as it really makes them work with the sub onky playing 30hz and lower get more powerful as they go below 20hz it all works great with xj700 dsp as it has dsp internally to setup the q10bs to what they need. Fyi like you said about lab testing thats what the q10bs are for as well maybe why they both out do buttkicker which more of a shaker a good shaker but still gimmicky in my experience. I ended up with 4 q10bs qfter trialing the buttkicker vs them.

    I have a Buttkicker and two Auras. I think they’re a fantastic addition to my system- in fact, in some ways I prefer the more inexpensive Auras to the BKs. Regardless, I’m a fan of bass transducers. I thought they’d be a silly gimmick, but your descriptions are spot-on (“natural’? I don’t remember your exact terms). However, I have felt this way about the $40/each Auras, paired with an inexpensive Dayton plate amp… not this $2000 system you’re gushing about. You make no effort to explain what these premium, expensive devices offer over traditional bass shakers, let alone any facts or knowledge describing how they are functionally superior to basic bass shakers. Especially given the massive price differential. I hope your chat with the CEO didn’t submit you to a reality distortion field. You spend a lot of time proclaiming your editorial independence and subjective experience, and zero on objective/functional advantages. I don;t doubt these are better than my Auras…. But WHY? And is the price premium worth it?

      It's hard to visually illustrate vibration, what the glass full of liquid shows versus what you feel sitting in the chair, are two totally different things. Damn that must be some cellphone if it can physically vibrate a chair more than that 😉. Keep in mind that these were not turned all the way up, and the goal is the tactile response to be realistic, not to just shake the ever living piss out of your chair lmao.

    These are WAY overpriced as compared to their performance. Buttkicker LFE's blow these away. You can get 4 of those for the price of 2 of these. Way more powerful, tactile and realistic. If these were worth it, it wouldn't be the last google search you find on transducers, period.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  Před 3 lety +5

      So you are basing this opinion on where Crowsons fall in the Google search rankings? If that is the case, do a search on Subwoofers, even search "best subwoofers" and tell me that the ACTUAL best subwoofers show up at the top. Guess what...they don't, not even close. You could do the same search for many audio products and the generally accepted "best" ones, will not be anywhere near the top.
      Secondly, the Crowsons provide a FLAT response from 1 - 600 hz, the Buttkickers do not. I was not providing this video to compare with other brands, hence why I even provided the names and links to other brands, but that does not mean those other brands compete in frequency response. Crowsons are generally accepted by the HT community as the best actuators for accurate TR response. I was merely confirming that with my opinion. If you feel differently, you are entitled to do so, but again, it's just opinion. Thanks for watching...cheers.
