For the first time in my 76 years,I made these and they were actually edible; in fact, they were delicious. My husband, who seldom compliments my food, volunteered that the biscuits were really good. I have watched this video several times and i followed your actions and made this successful biscuit. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us so much. ❤️❤️
Awesome to hear!
I have never made homemade bisquits I think I can make this 😁
He should buy you a cookbook.
@@valeriegeorge7535right..like I have thought dough needs too much attention and I'm so non committed 😂😂😂
😅 I'm 71 and have the same issue. I finally made some good tasting p-nut butter cookies.
All the Grandma's that ever lived are smiling at these biscuits! ❤❤❤
Can't wait to make them. Thank you!
Oh my! These were good and I'm a die hard buttermilk biscuit person! The only thing I did different was to grate my cold butter to save time and energy. But what I did with them was the fun part! Had a brunch for a few ladies at our retirement home. I used the smallest cookie cutter I had in a set and we had "just a bite" tiny biscuits with various jams and apple butter. So dainty! Very good!
Great idea!!
Wonderful thing to do.
They would also be good with blackberry jam. 🤗
Omg, yes!

Hi there. Im from the uk and just makin ure sour cream biscuits. Will report how they turn out later🇬🇧
@@paulmcallister7895 how were they?
Thank you Tammy and Chris 👍. Will be making a batch of two. Yes will use with jam ❤️😋
I tried your biscuit recipe this morning and not only were they the best I've ever made but the best I've ever tasted. Never heard of the sour cream ingredient but Wow. Absolutely delicious. My wife is a very picky eater and she had seconds. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing recipe. It will be my permanent go to for biscuits.
Great to hear!
I use plain yogurt and one and a half stick butter. With a bit of baking soda. The baking soda and the acid in the yogurt will make them rise beautifully 😍
I get buttermilk powder from the health food store and you just mix with water and presto buttermilk.
I haven't seen biscuits this fluffy , big and delicious looking in decades !!
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
I made the biscuits and turned out beautiful. MY family and friends loved them. Thank you Tammy and Chris. I enjoy watching your videos so much. Kris
So glad!
Tammy!!! I have made sour cream biscuits before, but the butter and sour cream were less than your recipe and I had to use a little milk. Meh, nothing special. Also, heavy cream biscuits, just do not have enough flavor for me. I have not seen your Angel Biscuit recipe but I have been making them for many years and everyone raves! Great flavor! I need to check yours out. As well, the Sprite Biscuits I have only made once years ago, but have not seen your video yet. Mayonnaise Biscuits I have never heard of before.
So, I decided to make your recipe today. I found that I was out of sour cream, so I used Greek Yogurt and added 1/4 tsp of baking soda. OH MY GOODNESS!!! NEVER Ever have I had a biscuit this good! The look, the texture, the fluffiness, the flavor - all outstanding!! They looked exactly like yours, tall, layered, fluffy! For me, one of the best parts was that the outside top of the biscuit was never dry or crunchy. It stayed soft even though I never buttered it or brushed it with anything before or after baking! WIN WIN! I can't wait to try it with sour cream.
I wanted a chicken salad sandwich today, but I had no bread made, so I used about 1/4 of this biscuit dough, formed it into two ovals and flattened them more than I would a biscuit, then sprinkled a little cornmeal over the outside and it made such fantastic sandwich bread that I preferred it to baked yeast bread! I cut each oval in half, to lay it open like a book and even though I made them thin it was easy to cut and wasn't crumbly.
THIS recipe is Out-of-this-World wonderful!! Thank You Tammy!! 🥰💖😍
Awesome!
I stopped in my tracks when I saw the title. And today I made the recipe. I could tell, right away, when you started to blend the ingredients, that it was going to be great. And it was. My Mom did pie crusts the same way. I made gravy with Jimmy Deans Sage Sausage, just like I learned when I was 8. Now I'm 77 and if my Mom had lived one more week, she would have been 103. She and my Grandmother were about the best American style cooks anyone could have learned from. To this day I have had few meals that could rival the meals they produced. Both my Brother & I try as best we can to imitate what we learned from them. In todays world it seems like a dying art where so many people dine on fast food with all the bad health benefits the go along with that type of diet. So a BIG THANKS for the recipe. It will be my 'go to' for biscuits from now on & I will be sure to share you channel to those I know like to cook.
Thanks!
would luv ur gravy recipe, can u summarize it here?
@@divingduck9 If you like plenty of extra meaty gravy, I brown one roll of the sausage. Then sprinkle in several heaping tablespoons of flour & mix it well into the meat & renderings to make sure there won't be any lumps. Then add in a fairly substantial amount of milk & keep stirring until it's thick. Salt & pepper to taste. That's about it.
Hello Tammy👋 I made this recipe and I have to agree with you. These are the best biscuits I have ever eaten. Everyone in my family agrees too. So fluffy, soft and buttery. This is my new biscuit recipe. Thank you. 😊
Wonderful!
Cook for how long??
@@merlinsowl9458 15 to 20 min
@@CollardValleyCooks I make them 2 cups flour 1 cup whole milk I cup sour cream
And 2 sticks of butter
I just made these tonight. They are the best biscuits of all the ones I have tried. Thanks for a great recipe❤️
thick greek plain yogurt can be subbed for sour cream ! YUM ! AND if you don't have buttermilk but want to make them...add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to regular milk (the amount the recipe calls for - about 1 T / cup) wait 5-10 minutes then make your buttermilk biscuits ✌
Thick Greek pain yogurt is more my way but these do sound yummy. And I have two of the mixing forks. Love them!
I just recently found your channel, and you remind me of my aunt we would go to her house down on the farm which I loved and truly miss, mom and my aunt would get up early every morning and make breakfast and everyone would wake up to the smell of coffee and bacon she cooked on an old wood burning cook stove which I rather miss on cold mornings, well your recipe on these biscuits just looked so good and I do love a soft fluffy biscuit and they just reminded me of my younger days and some times that I really miss, thanks for the memories sorry this post is so long
Slice of country ham on 1 biscuit, some strawberry jelly on another and some gravy on the last one!!
These look amazing.
Nice recipe
Thank you
I made a half recipe of these biscuits yesterday. Wow, how easy and so good. Had left over biscuit and home made Apricot/Pineapple jam for supper. Will definitely make these again.
Great!
I LOVE my blending fork! I gave one to my sister and she said it had changed her life! She is the pie maker in our family and she said that making pie crust is so easy! I also gave one to my daughter who made her first biscuits using White Lily flour. She was so proud of herself and I was proud of her too!
Way to go daughter!
Yes, I agree on the blending fork. Changed my life too, I absolutely love it. Makes it so much easier to make my biscuits! Love Tammy, she taught me how to make my biscuits. I must try this way of making biscuits next!
I just bought one!
@@cecileroy557You will love it.
I'm excited to have this recipe. I rarely have buttermilk on hand, BUT sour cream is a different story! New subscriber from Texas here. My Grandma was from Rome, GA. I'm thinking I'm really going to love your channel as I didn't get to learn very much from her personally. Yours seems to be a very similar cooking style. Homemade from scratch!
I love how you are humble. There is a cook that is Hispanic here on CZcams and she brags and carries on how perfect her food taste. Personally I find your biscuits better tasting than her biscuits and you do not carry on how perfect your biscuits taste. Well I will brag on your biscuits they are the best ever. Thank you for sharing this recipe and for your humbleness. God bless you.
Made these the other day they were best biscuits we ever ate. I didn't have the sour cream so I substituted whole fat plain yogurt. My husband wants them every day. Thank you so much for the recipe. Love watching your videos. Do you have a recipe for big fluffy pancakes, mine always turn out flat
Wonderful!
So good! Can't wait to try them with strawberries, or breakfast sandwiches!
I made the sour cream biscuits this morning. They were so soft and fluffy. My favorite now. These biscuits would be good with anything.
Great job!
Tammy, these biscuits are so beautiful! They definitely need some sausage gravy and fried eggs! Thanks so much!
I tried these biscuits they are easy and delicious they the bomb
I've been using this for 40 years, and still can't decide if I like this or my other recipe: 2 cups whole milk add 2 tbls white vinegar and 1 tbls lemon juice.. wait 20-30 minutes /stir in to dry mix.. fresh curds rule too!!! My gr. mother used fresh milk from the cow!!!
I knew when I saw that White Lilly flour... this lady knows what she's doing.
I’m going to try the biscuits with chive sour cream, I think that is worth a try.
I made these using Gluten Free Bisquick baking mix, I have celiac disease. They were absolutely the closest thing to a southern biscuit that I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely delicious! Thank you!
Glad to hear!
Please us how long you baked the biscuits. Just not a baker here, but I am trying. Thanks
@@dianasnider1555 I didn’t actually time it, probably 12 to 15 minutes, according to size or until golden brown. Trust me, they’re DELICIOUS!
Wow! My daughter is gluten free. I'll hv to try it!
I made these for Easter dinner! They were perfect. My favorite recipe, too!
The original Foley Fork was introduced by Foley Manufacturing in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the Great Depression.
As a Southerner (Memphis) I have to applaud those biscuits! They were picture perfect! I've got sour cream left over from Christmas (it's Jan. 7) and I was looking for something to do with it. Now I've got the perfect recipe to try it with! Thanks!
You are such a sweet lady! The mother I wish I had. Thank you for teaching me how to cook and bake! I can’t wait to try these. I’ve made hockey pucks in the past lol!
That sounds like my biscuits lol.
I’ve tried to make biscuits before and ended up with hockey pucks. It was great watching your process and gives me inspiration to try again!
These are excellent! They are just as good from the freezer to the oven.
Oh my! I am going to make these this weekend! They do look delicious and so easy to make!
I tried these biscuits Tammy and yes they are the BOMB! SO YUMMY! 🥰🥰
This one is going to be on my table VERY soon! Thanks Tammy and Chris.
The fastest, easiest way to make biscuits. The tenderest I ever eaten. I'll never make any others but these. Thank you for this great recipe.
I just love your stove and spice rack !
My grandchildren love my sour cream biscuits, there’s no way I’d tell them they’re made with sour cream.
These biscuits are definitely gonna be my favorite from today going forward. WOW!! They are so delicious !! Thanks for the awesome recipe for these biscuits!
Glad you like them!
I have to try these - and make some sausage gravy to go with them. And btw - I love, love, love the blending fork. Thanks!!!
I add about a tablespoon of butter, a heaping tablespoon of low fat sour cream and low fat Buttermilk. Much healthier and the taste/texture is wonderful.
Hi Tammy. These are the best. I buttered the dish so the bottoms are crispy. I only made the 1 cup flour recipe and made 7 biscuits. I just ate three. Mine were not salty, I used unsalted butter. Thank you for the recipe.
Awesome!
Nice just in time for Mother's Day. Also, I can imagine using them to make Biscuits and Gravy. My husband will fall in love with this recipe.
We’re having them with strawberries and homemade ice cream right now!
Have now made these twice, best ever. the family loves them. thanks for a great recipe. 🤠
Made these biscuits yesterday and they are AMAZING!!!! Yummy, fluffy, buttery 😊
Glad you like them!
OMG!!!!These are the best!!! Thanks for the recipe. My son is very picky about biscuits, he said "these were the best". Definitely, made my day!❤
Awesome!
I added two table spoons of whipped cream cheese. Wow, crazy moist. You will need to add flour. The amount of flour depends on your climate.
I made these biscuits for my family for Sunday morning breakfast. They were so good. Definitely my go to recipe now. So soft, fluffy and full of wonderful favor.
Thank you for this great recipe with easy video instructions!! My family LOVED these biscuits and the White Lily self rising flour made delicious biscuits! ❤️
And you are right…amazing with homemade gravy 😍
My new go to biscuit recipe!
Wonderful!
I made these a few days ago. They are amazing biscuits.
Glad to hear
I guess I'll be trying these this week. Thanks. I've made the apple fritters..........yummy. The Hubs loves them.
O my goodness. These look amazing. When you opened the first one to taste I could almost smell it. I cannot wait to bake a batch.
I made these delicious biscuits in a ceramic pan and while they looked perfectly done on top, the bottoms were still doughy. I put them back in the oven at 350 degrees for another 8 minutes and they turned out perfect. For future reference I will bake them at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. That should do the trick. If not then 20 minutes at 350 degrees. These are the most perfect biscuits and this recipe is my new biscuit recipe. I even went on Amazon and bought a dough fork to make sure they turned out like the ones shown.
Well that's good to know because I always have sour cream in the house, but I don't always have buttermilk.
I love your videos. All I used to watch was Appalachian homestead with patera and now I watch you also. I love both of y'all. Great biscuit making
These will be included in Sunday supper this weekend! Thank you 💕
My mom made the best homemade buttermilk biscuits which is where I got my LOVE for a good homemade biscuit. I’ve tried the two ingredient biscuit with the heavy whipping cream and I love them. Now I must try this biscuit with the sour cream.
I've tried the heavy cream method. They were okay, but I missed the buttermilk flavor. These are much better than the heavy cream biscuits.
Tammy, I made this biscuit for the first time ever, they are so so good! Easy to make, and I don't have to make any buttermilk. I got tired of going to the store and having to buy a quart and then having to find ways to use it or have to throw it away. The sourcream biscuit is amazing! Thank you so much for teaching me this at the ripe old age of 69! I will be making these for my family now....❤
I pour 1/2 cup buttermilk in ziplock baggies and freeze untill need.
Add some white or apple cider vinegar to your regular milk to make it curdle/thicken. I do about 2 to 3 Tbsp vinegar to 1 cup of milk. Stir and let it set 10 to 15 minutes. Longer if needed.
Simply Beautiful, Thank you! 😋
im going to try these this week for egg and cheese biscuits for meal prep sooo dang excited. your recipes are always amazing
Tammy I made those biscuts, thet are delicious just like you said, my husband is a very picky eater, & he loved them thanks for showing the video
Tammy, these biscuits turn out real good if you use the Southern Biscuit self rising Formula L flour. It's so easy for people that don't want to add the butter, since it's in the mix, and you just add sour cream. Can't get anymore simply for a delicious biscuit.
Just made these and they turned out perfectly using the original recipe.
Simply devine
I love making the 2-ingredient biscuits. I must try this!
I gave these a try as I haven't been able to get buttermilk for my usual biscuits. They were good, very light and fluffy, a good alternative recipe. They remind me of Church's biscuits. I only added 1 1/2 cups of sour cream. I baked them at 450 for 14 minutes in my full-size convection oven. Thanks for the recipe.
Glad you like them!
My granny made these all the time. We call these Butter Bombs. Easy to make but my granny did the 2:1:1 ratio. 2 cups white Lily self rising flour, 1 cup sour cream, 1 stick butter. She also called them a drop biscuit because she didn’t roll them out. Just rounded them in her floured hands and dropped them into the pan. They are delicious.
These look sooo gorgeous and delicious 😋
Love biscuits and butter looks amazing
Hi Tammy! These biscuits are indeed da bomb!! We mixed up a couple of batches this evening since we were doing "breakfast for dinner" tonight. Had Swaggerty's sausage, too!! Nice soft dough. Had a soft, fluffy texture. Didn't last very long with my crew! We'll definitely keep this recipe in our meal rotation! Thanks so much for the demo of this recipe. Thank you both for another video, y'all!
Thanks Pat!

Wonderful!
@Collard Valley Cooks I'm from south central Nebraska right along the state line. People out here in Utah think I'm from the south because of a twang. I used to have a strong drawl.
They look so good! Cant wait to try. Thank you for another amazing recipe. I love the two cookbooks i bought from you sweet people!
I’ve made these a couple of times now & to me, the best & most flavorful 👍
Here is a twist that worked. I only had 8 ounces of sour cream and only 3/4 cup of heavy whipping cream - so I tried a melding of a two ingredient biscuit recipe with your three ingredient recipe. So - two cups self rising flour, 3/4 cups whipping cream, 1/2 stick of butter and 8 ounces of sour cream. Same mixing and baking technique that you demonstrated and they were possibly the best biscuits I have ever made!
Great job!
@@CollardValleyCooks i was going to half the recipe and when into the video, you used 2cups flour and 2 cups sour cream instead of just the one cup. I only had 1/2 cup Sour cream and had to add 1/4 cup of whole milk since that is the only other dairy I had on hand. It worked! I will make sure to keep sour cream on hand. You explaining about the fat needed in baking biscuits also help. I only use white lily self rising flour also. Thank you for this recipe.
@@kcr1969 way to go!
I was thinking about trying that! Thankyou for sharing this!!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I didn't have self-rising flour so I had to add baking powder and salt. The biscuits turned out really moist and tender.
Wonderful!
Hello, how much baking powder and salt did you use? And was this with the 1 or 2 cup biscuit recipe?
Thank you.
Looks very tasty. I think I’ll give them a try real soon. Thank you for the video. 👍🏾
Those are beautiful!! I cant wait to make them!! Thank you. ❤
Oh my yikes!! Ive been making this recipe for years and I agree...best biscuits ever and you can play with adding spices to the flour.
The only difference in the way I was taught this recipe, is we put them in muffin tins and no kneading needed, just spoon in muffin tin. You got me wanting ti make some now lol
Gonna try that!
Oh Tammy my mouth is watering for one of those biscuits! They are so fluffy and rose so good. I'm going make these in the morning with gravy and some sliced tomato's. Thank you for sharing this ❤ y'all
They look so moist I’m curious how they were with the gravy.
I am in my 70's and made biscuits all my life. My grandson lives with me to help me since my heart surgery and he said, "Grandma these biscuits are good, so much better then your previous attempts". He cracked me up when he said that.. So I will be making these biscuits from now on, they are delicious. Thank you Tammy. By the way, we are cousins from several generations ago. Can you tell me if you don't mind, what your Grand Pa Benefield's name was.. My Benefield's were in the Cleburne Co., AL area since the 1870's. Thanks again.

Glad you like them!
Hi Tammy, I was given a recipe that uses half sour cream and half 7up. Very soft. I'll give this recipe a try. Thank you!
Hey Tammy, I made these biscuits yesterday, and they turned out just like I was hoping they would. It was rather hot here in north central Texas yesterday, and I was afraid that they wouldn't be good, but they are great. I will be making these again and again 😊
Wonderful!
I don't know what it is, but the sour cream seems to work the best for me, they're really easy to whip up and they're just so good. 😊
Having bread problems.. but yeast an homemade bread.. no problems.. love biscuits 🤤😋

Those look delicious, I would imagine they would be buttery and so soft ❤
Wow 😅 those biscuits look amazing I'm going to try making them. Thanks for sharing 😊
I’m so glad that I waited until I found this recipe, to make a 2-3 ingredient biscuit. My family has called me “biscuit” for my entire 60 year life. I love biscuits, and especially buttermilk biscuits - you’re right, these are better. Thank you, so much.
They would be good with strawberry's on them. Shortcake biscuits.
Tammy, I love your show. You make me remember my Georgia Granny's cooking with love. I had to buy all of your books. Thank you.
Love these biscuits they are truly the best biscuits I've ever tried thanks
Wonderful!
Yum, yum! They look so good! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Where's the applebutter for them biscuits 😂😂😂
I have this recipe except it uses Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Instead of kneeding them out and cutting them pat the dough into the pan. Once cooked cut it into squares. No mess no left over dough.~Debi
I can just tell when she's cutting the biscuits out the way they are falling it's going to be fluffy like grands biscuits!❤
i can't wait to try these!!! i've been out of the biscuit game for years after moving from the south, and here's some things i had to re-learn to make my biscuits perfect: make sure your ingredients are COLD. i grate frozen butter, put my buttermilk (or milk plus a little lemon juice to substitute, or whatever milk you use) in the freezer for a few to get it extra cold, and make sure the mix is wet enough, and to not overmix at all, mix minimally as possible, have a fully preheated oven, and crowd those biscuits so they rise up immediately not stay flat. yours look amazing and i'll be trying this one asap😊
I live in Albuquerque, which is a mile above sea level, and they turned out well.
