      The game is amazing, so unless they actively ruin it with bad decisions (not likely) it's already a success in my book.

      it's already a better game than D4 with a fraction of the budget and dev time, and made some big sales when it launched, thats a massive success no matter what happens from here on.

      i think they are gonna have to go big on marketing as well since blizzard is starting to up their game with diablo.. and poes always consistent. But as long as their seasons don't collide with the time of other arpg seasons it prob wont be that big of an issue

      it dosent work out, its a 5 year old game, people forget that always.
      in these 5 years the game changed less then a single poe patch.
      the developer just sucks.

      @@jgsource552 blizz isn't upping their game so much as bringing it up to speed to what people think it should've been in the first place, right? And as far as blizz is concerned, their target audience will remain the same. They do not look at catering to anyone interested in an in-depth build system and itemization. As much as I think the 14/05 patch is a step in the right direction, that's only because they're effectively weeding out the vines. They will remove an entire affix slot from rare items... and from QAs it still seems as though more interesting ideas either still fly way above their heads or are just cut short from ever seeing development, since it would 'risk' losing players who don't want their experience fundamentally changed. There are still more people playing Diablo right now than POE and LE combined.

    EHG was never afraid of changing things if they want/have to. Also they change thing before community feedback. Ie, remember the trade system. KUDOS to this roadmap!

    TBH I was very surprised to see them release any info on cycles that far into the future. I think it's great. Everyone is aware that things can change or be delayed. The fact that they are treating the players like adults and involving them in their future plans for the game is a huge win IMO.

    The roadmap looks great, so many cool things for end game. I hope that they can also manage to reduce the bugs and polish the game meanwhile they are releasing new content.

      I stopped playing because of bugs. Character keeps going invisible and I can't see my Character so I gave up lol

      I thought they're seasonal content that gets rotated out after each season (or added to base game if people love it).

    Great video Raxx. I stopped playing LE for now because I got bored after reaching empowered monolith. Infinitely scalable difficulty isn't really my thing. I still think system wise it's the best ARPG out there, and I'll be back later after giving D4 another shot for S4.

      yea once they expand on monos it's gonna be a lot of fun.. Im especially excited for the pinnacle content. I always need big goals when it comes to new seasons in an arpg

    In my opinion, we should not gatekeep content. Offline and seasonal are separated and offline players shouldn't have to wait for the existing content to be released to them, as if the version was inferior.

    As a more casual player, I feel like i'm missing some sort of persistency into the game, and ideally also a very visible list of goals with a clear reward structure. Never managed to keep interested enough in the game to get a character to 100, as there doesn't really seem to be a point to do it; higher I could go was 88, got super bored after that, created another character to try a different play-style, got it to 57 and stopped. Tried to get a few other characters off the ground but rarely got any of them past 20. The more new characters I tried to create, the more annoyed I got with how incredibly slow the beginning of the game is and how i'm forced to do the campaign for each and every one of them.
    I'm glad they are releasing a roadmap that seems realistic and are being transparent about it. Wish them all the best in the game. Personally, I don't really see anything that gets me excited about it until 1.4 though.

    I hope they update their steam deck support and add trophies on steam. I really enjoy the game and want to play it on my Deck without it crashing all the time. I am excited for all the new stuff to come! Thanks for the content Raxx.

    Cool. I know roadmaps can sometimes set people up for disappointment if something misses the intended patch, so I'm glad they decided to put one out. Looking forward to the future. Regarding the poll; I don't care what other players are doing. I'm playing seasonal and it doesn't make a difference to me if offline or legacy players kill pinnacle bosses sooner. I'm not answering the poll, to let people with stronger opinions decide since it doesn't matter to me.

    I love these changes, but I hope a few other changes make it in some of the details. I'd still love to see a UI scale option or just a font size option. Everything is so tiny for some of us.

    Explain to me why it matters delaying the pinnacle boss between games modes , who cares if someone offline clears it before me ?

    I totally agree with you, except for what game mode should define when the delay stops. I think the easiest is the correct answer here, as once any gamemode is done, it'll be released and spoiled, what you get, strategies, what classes clear it easily or can farm it, so no need to wait for hardcore/ssf to beat it to release it to legacy. It's already been done, it doesn't change anything that legacy gets it after normal cycle cleared it.

      It provides a sense of accomplishment to those in the seasonal game mode for clearing it the “pure” or “more difficult” way though, since they’ll be discovering all the information you’ve mentioned out from “scratch”
      Whereas if you can just run in and 2 shot the new boss from the jump in legacy, it kind of devalues the journey to discovery.
      I can see merit in both, but I think I like Raxx’s take here. Let seasonal characters clear first (doesn’t necessarily need to be HCSSF), and then once the first lil occurs release it to legacy

      @@iyetisnipe You are either wrong or didn't understand what was being talked about specifically. Once a non hardcore or SSF cycle character has beaten the new content then the information is already out there. A hardcore or SSF character still gets the same accomplishment in it's "pure" or "more difficult" form regardless of if the legacy characters are then free to do it. There is no reason to keep the content locked away from the legacy characters once any cycle characters have done it and the information is public. The choice to not go find that information and have that "pure" experience is the same as the choice those players made to play hardcore and/or SSF.

      It would be very cool for a HC/SSF to clear the bosses without fully understanding strategies that have been discovered from fully geared characters. It makes the game world feel alive and keeps the community invested and interested in who will be “first”
      Realistically this probably looks like a 2 day wait. Content creators will blast through the content and discover the best strats early anyway

      @@iyetisnipe Non hardcore SSF cycle characters will be first. There's really no question about it. If a hardcore or SSF player did get first that would be pretty wild but it is supremely unlikely. Regardless, as soon as the normal cycle characters have done it and that information is out there nothing changes from letting the legacy characters have access. There is no added community investment or interest at that point, it's already been done. The legacy characters won't be adding anything new at that point aside from "lol look how fast it dies" which does nothing to the hardcore/SSF experience. There is nothing to be gained by keeping it away from legacy characters once cycle characters have cleared it and the info on the boss is available.

Im sure its annoying to randomly see spoiler wherever you go, but i dont think the game is big enough to have endgame boss fight spoiler wherever you go. And even seeing a run doesnt mean you understand every mechanic of it unless youre really looking for it.
      Altho tbf if the game is big enough, people gonna boss rush in no time, just like PoE, because of the clout incentive

    I'm sort of confused as to why it's so important that someone can't kill a boss first in a mode besides seasonal. Aren't they completely separate modes? If you kill it first in seasonal you're still the first to kill it in seasonal regardless of what happens in the other modes. Am I missing something here?

      No, I think you're spot on. EHG stated previously that they would not separate Legacy and Seasonal content, primarily due to the small amount of devs. I see no reason to delay other than to give streamers some form of accomplishment for killing pixels on a screen lol. Not separating the content was a reason my friends and I all bought it and made legacy characters. If they're saying I have to play seasons now, I can just move on. I got my $35 worth a long time ago.

      Nope, you're spot on. The delay would be effectively just to moderate competition among content creators and appease the nutjobs who think that the way someone else plays the game offline in legacy is their business in any way. Sadly those people are chronically online and very vocal about making everyone play "how they should".

      @@sarkmangaming8164 They are not saying you have to play seasonal lol? just that you have to wait a bit, if the majority of players want it that way. I don't think it'll be good for the accomplishment side of thing. What makes me want to have a delay is the hype and watchablility of content surrounding it, so instead of a player logging in and one shotting it with it's hyper optimized characters you have a race, you'll be able to discover the fight and what strategies work and don't work.

LE dipped below 5k players this morning on steamcharts for the first time that I've seen since release. I'd rather everyone be able to play, than try to divide the already dwindling playerbase. Besides, I don't get hyped anymore, I'm in my 40s lol. Hype is what causes everyone to preorder stuff then complain that they got taken. Whatever they decide, I would ultimately prefer they stop the polls. It's your game, stop trying to run it via committee. Make a decision and stand by your product.

      if they don't restrict it like that, the boss will be dead day 1 in legacy and people will upload their day 1 kill. and even though, yes, seasonal will track it separately, it still takes the tension out of the content. people just won't care as much (imho)
      and this isn't about content creators, it's about anyone that plays seasonal and wants that tension of possibly being the first in the world to beat the boss
      i suspect that in reality this isn't going to matter much at all; that in 9/10 cases people will be killing the boss day 1 anyway, and then the next day legacy players will be able to do the same. so this is for that 1/10 case where genuinely nobody has the tech to beat the boss yet - and imho a very trivial restriction on what new content legacy players can interact with so that everyone playing seasonal gets to feel that 1/10 instance of super high tension is easily worth the tradeoff
      the idea that you're just going to throw up your hands and uninstall because the pinnacle bosses are available to your legacy character on day 2 instead of day 1 is honestly hilarious to me

    As long as offline is not apart of leaderboards then they should release it to everyone. Offline is not appart of multiplayer or even the greater comunity meta so i am fine with offline going wild as long as it does not change online play. I personally play offline intentionally so that i dont have to deal with mulitiplayer bullshit.

    I don't understand, why would be a problem that offline players will one shot a boss or whatever? Its offline and nobody cares lol. I play offline and I see no reason why I should get the boss later when I'm playing the game same way as everybody else, just because 0,1% of players cheat with the files or something? Make no sense

    I don't understand why a delay is necessary? Offline people don't play with online with the same character. Do people care that some stranger can take down the boss in some other mode? I can understand a leaderboard situation would make it highly unfair if it's combined for some reason with the other modes of play but that's not the case I believe. I love to be world first in something, I get that, but it will be world first offline/online/cycle so they are just different records if anything. Beats me, people have too much time on their hands.

      It's not "necessary" but it makes an event out of it. So everbody is a little hyped about the first kill, also the pros can race for it. That can make it interesting for the community and streamers.

Weird times I guess.

    I only play Cycle Offline SSF mode just to avoid connection issues and I wonder what makes offline characters stronger than Online characters? Am I missing some other advantages of offline mode?

    Im a bit on the fence about the boss delay thing. It seems to only really negatively impact content creators/streamers? Any regular Joe would fire up a new account on season to kill the boss if they really wanted to, and they should already understand that they would be starting from scratch to get there. If you are perfectly fine with offline mode and dont see yourself playing seasons, why should you get a delayed release?

      I mean think about the competition between streamers and players I feel like it just helps the game gain more publicity people get excited for people beating this big boss when it’s the first person and also helps spread the word to more people who may not have bought the game yet and then they hear how excited people are getting or they hear their friends talking about it and it just builds community and players to the game I can see it sucks to have to wait but also it is healthy for the game overall to keep people excited and therefore allows for more money to go towards the game making more content for the game in the long run

    Team play is what kept me in games the longest. We even would go from game to game as a team/clan.

    Guys you need to chill a bit What is the issue is offline and other people kill the boss before everyone who cares ?? It is not like they are taking loots from everyone or there is a ladder against offline ?

    Last epoch needs campaign replay on higher difficulty levels as that alone will make the game significantly better to continue playing !

    Everyone can have off-season character that is grinded to the extreme. So it is even playing field imo. Everyones cycle 1 characters move to legacy. I don't understand this cycle only content/delay for other gamemodes. Cycles were originally meant for leaderboard-resets anyway in LE. I don't understand why they didn't have corruption-leaderboards in the roadmap though, I think ppl would enjoy it.

    A studio with a live service game should always be engaging with their players. In order to deliver quality product you need to know what your customers/playerbase wants and also spice things up...

    Everything sounds good. But to kill a pinnacle boss on the season server would probably take a few months for most people to be able to do. The hardcore people will probably clear it in a week or two. It’s true if you let offline people play it, they’ll clear it day 1. But I’m genuinely curious how many people care about leaderboards and things like that. I couldn’t care less personally

      Thats why this isnt really a massive update lol. Even 1.1 doesnt have a date yet. 1.4 is prob a year away at least.

    Yes roadmaps is the best way for devs to show what they are aiming for. We don't care if something changed after a few months, at least you know what the developers are working on. One think I don't like about D4 is how every patch and seasons are secrets until a few weeks before releasing. Please let us know what's coming in the future, make my hype to play your game.

      have you played path of exile? its a unique boss essentially that is the hardest content of the game, something you work towards as a major end goal

    I don't really see the need to delay the release of new endgame stuff to make it fair between offline and the current epoch.
    It's like path of exile, no one races new content on standard, it's just there to test new content if you're playing hard core to see if you feel like you have a chance in league, for testing builds, or for actual weirdos who just like crafting gear for the same build for 8 years.
    Not once has there been an issue where league players are up in arms that standard players got to kill eater first, it's a silly idea.
    I wouldn't mind a delay either, but it feels very unneccessary
    Delaying would just piss off people who have to play offline for whatever reason, and it would have exactly zero impact on players in the current epoch outside of the ability to practice.

    DE of warframe followed a similar path with community and it got rocketed to high heaven in term of content and mechanics. I am actually hopeful for ehg

    I wouldnt say its a massive update. 1.4 will be prob a year from now, if not longer. LE was decent at launch, but needed a good year more of development. Ill prob try it out again once 1.4 comes out. If, and only if, they improve controller support.

    Dude you are a blaster most people are not playing this game streaming hours on end. I've stopped at level 97 on two different characters because the level grind is so bad at that point. Let people experience the fu**ing content.

    Well I super like LE but I have only a Steam Deck and around end game monolith it's dropping to1 frame /second. I was so upset that I realized that is made with unity.

    i understand the "end game thing" but i feel we are getting a bit crazy with it, for example, the holy grail of arpg: d2r, has no end game but you can sort of create your own end game and grind endlesly choosing your own activities, builds, etc. You can even do speedruns on different builds as an endgame. I think we should go back to the basics, a simple arpg, you kill monster and then you spin the roullete ez.

    As long as there are still perks and skills that are reportedly bugged/broken since over a year and haven't even been acknowledged yet, I won't touch this game again.
    I am sooo tired of devs that ignore the most important stuff. Fixing non-working Skills and Perks should be the NUMBER ONE priority in a game like this. I can't trust any item or anything anymore since I don't know if it works as intended at this point.

    The game has done a lot of things right, but the issue its going to have is people expecting them to be able to match anything similar to PoE's content cadence. It simply can't. LE was developed with traditional top-down design, which is very good for defining a frame work of playable archetypes that players won't get lost in, but it makes it much more tedious to expand laterally. For example, adding one skill in LE means designing a new skill tree, new passives, adding new affixes, etc... In other words the devs would have to retread a lot of sub-system support that every other skill has. Inversely, PoE devs simply can add a new skill because it will inherit all the interactions with supports, passives, and items through its tag system. That's the advantage of a bottom-up design and what allows PoE to have a constant stream of content that expands both what their characters are doing and how they build those characters.

      Meh, PoE has other problems when introducing new skills. Specifically, animation problems, thats why they are doing transfigured gems which basically is the same skill with different vectors of scaling

      The loot. The excitement of getting say a Griffon's Eye or a high rune like Ber or Jah is something that I don't think any ARPG has matched since. PoE I guess is the closest to that? I definitely never felt excited about loot drops when playing D3 or D4.

      Itemization, trading and pvp. D2 had done this better than any other arpg imo . Those three things are the true endgame of a good arpg but most modern ARPGs think endgame = content

    Nobody cares what offline characters do. It's not competitively ranked in any way. Why would they withhold things from people who don't care about tryharding in seasons? Plus, seasonal players will have the ability to practice in offline and then go into the encounter in seasonal mode.

    Kinda feels like launching with a proper cycle as a launch was a bad idea. There was no challenges or rewards to continue to play. Once you hit end-game, there wasn't much insensitive to continue on, only but to test things out. From a staggering +260k players to recent numbers 5-6k active players. Graphs don't lie. And to have this first cycle as s full cycle is kind odd to do. But I suppose they just didn't have anything else cooked but the various things upon launch. Kinda look forward to the next cycle, but thinking about maybe returning next year to the game when things are more fleshed out

    I really enjoyed the game until about level 90, I've had a lot of fun. But it got really boring above 90, and I finally gave up at level 96. It took me about 80 hours as a casual player to get to 96, and leveling became incredibly slow at that point. I've played about one hour every day when I could and in that one hour it seemed that I am not gaining any more XP. When I made some calculations I found out that it would take me an additional 30 to 40 hours to get to 100 from 96 that was when I gave up, and I was very frustrated. It is so sad to ruin such a fantastic game in the end with making leveling progress basically impossibly long for a casual. :(

    Games claiming that they don't want backlash over missing features, so they don't say anything about them has always been a cop out.
    I don't know if this narrative started specifically with Blizzard, but it has been repeated by Blizzard ad-nauseum. They always seem to leave out that the "Backlash" that they have always gotten for not producing those features is that they SOLD EXPANSIONS with those features being touted, it wasn't a "Hey, we are trying to work on this cool thing that we think will be awesome, but can't guarantee anything." it was always a "Hey, this thing is in the game and it is awesome! If you want to experience this awesome thing, you have to buy the expansion!" then expansion launches and it is suddenly "That cool thing didn't work out the way we wanted, so we scrapped it. We feel REALLY bad about it. Thanks for the money though."
    Then when people would say "Why did you announce it as a feature of your expansion if you scrapped it? A feature like that was a huge part of the expansion, so you would have had to have scrapped it LONG before announcing it as a feature." it was always met with crickets.

    I don't get the unlock thing. So you mean I have to do all the midgame crap to experience content or wait until someone has kill it? not that I think I will reach it before some of the god tier players or streamers will reach it since I stopped playing at low corruption.
    Imho it only makes sense to gatekeep stuff if you're going to package it as seasonal content and not as something that is supposed to be in a finished main game

      Think about a World-First Moment enforced by the system. Everyone waits for someone to unlock the Content for their supperior Characters to demolish the pinnacle Boss in legacy. In my Opinion, locking it up behind some achievement by the community, just adds value to the game and the community itself.

      ofc matters for a lot of people, where is the excitement in going killing a new boss when someone killed 10 minutes into release. why would even play a season if the most important things are released day one on offline/standard realm.

      what people would do in this case is, especially in a hardcore mode, is to practice on the boss in a legacy league until they get the mechanics down and stuff, then attempt it on their league/hardcore character. basically a way to cheese the boss

      It's weird you don't understand how it would matter for some people, even if it doesn't matter to you. Getting world firsts in many games is A Thing People Care About; it's one of the few competitive activities in PvE. Releasing it only in the new cycle would generate at the least an unofficial competition to see who can kill it first, if EHG doesn't run an official contest on SSF HC. PoE does a league start contest almost every league, but especially if there's a new endgame boss. Everyone starting from scratch is the perfect platform for competition. The more suspense, the more hype it'll generate for the game. Having OP standard characters dumpster the boss 10 minutes into the new patch would kill a lot of the excitement.

    I'm not a big fan of the mono system. I hope the revamp makes it less like D3 Rifts. The boss system looks cool. I hope maybe they actually make the campaign better as that's where the game shines actually. I actually wouldn''t mind new game+ modes like d3 d4 has

      @@TurkishSupremacy Negative reviews? it still sits at "Mostly Positive" and even better than at launch. And the biggest part is that many player now "cycle" through LE, PoE (maybe D4). That's what I did at least. Look at PoE numbers during seasons. They never had a stable player count. As long as they don't completely fuck up the next cycles they should be fine and they will have returning players. I'm optimistic that the game and the studio will do just fine.
