As a kineticist, you need both hands free to gather power. When you wield a shield, you are unable to gather power. Unless you use the shield infusion, which allow you to do so. Hope this helps.
Thank you for bringing the kineticist closer. Helped me a lot. The Kinetic is a very exciting and varied micromanagement character. I'm now playing the Dark Elementalist subclass as a half-orc with 18 Intelligence as my primary attribute. Still, I've honed a lot of Dexterity and Constitution and some Strength. I'm very excited to see how this develops throughout the game. In any case, it's a lot of fun, and in comparison to a magician or sorcerer, is much clearer in terms of skills. I like having a lot of micromanagment, but I don't like having too many spells with my main character. A druid is still possible, which is also a lot of fun in comparison. The kineticist's skills are also visually impressive: simple, direct, refreshing, versatile and supportive. And there's a whole new feel to the game.
Great video, every class seemed to be pretty straight forward using the standard D&D classes I picked up over the years but this one threw me. But this video really cleared up a lot of that confusion.
I know this is an old vid, but I wanted to point out something when Tony is talking about the Elemental Bastion around time marker 17:39 . Normal Kineticists get Elemental Defense at level 2, the Knight doesn't get that ability until level 4 BECAUSE they get Bastion at level 1 which allows them to attune with their shield for the 1 burn. It's why the tooltip has paragraphs.
Piranha Strike feat does not work with some of the blades because it has a clause in it that states "The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage." So in theory it should work with Earth and Water blades because they actually target AC and not touch AC, but would not work with Fire and Air blades because they target touch AC.
This has been exceptionally instructive. I got this game on sale and I'm still in the "Defeat Stag Lord" stage, trying to find the right class for me. This really explains the Kineticist. I'm gonna watch your other Kineticist videos. I've watched your Ranger videos and Fighter Archer, Sorcerer and Wizard, btw, and tried them all. I think I'm close to choosing a class. I like the feeling of using magic, but I wanna dps not be a controller and hoo boy, magic users feel veeeeeerry weak early game. Anyway, thanks!
SLA’s should be affected by some spell feats, Elemental Focus (Fire) should work with Fire blast saves increases, so should Spell penetration... but that’s how it it works in the Tabletop, I have no clue if it works in this game system like that. But given I’ve played both, and the similarities between the two, it would not surprise me if they still interacted with each other in the same way.
Earth and Water do NOT benefit from Spell Penetration. Fire and Air benefit from Spell Penetration. Thats why one of the sisters that uses Fire Kenetics has the Spell Penetration Feat.
Yup, that is because earth and water are considered physical attacks, and not spell attacks. While Fire and Air do because they are considered spell attacks.
When I use Kinetic Knight in turn based mode, the damn thing wont attack. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? I turn TB off, and he attacks fine, but sometimes I need TB on for a fight.
I watched your kinetic knight builds and I don't understand why you got so much hate for them. People were being very judgemental. Accusing your builds of only working on easy. Which you don't do easy hardly from what I know. It's usually normal+. PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong
I am very much a casual gamer. I am only really interested in playing on Normal difficulty levels. I have in the past dropped down to easier difficulty levels if i have wanted to experience more of a game i am having issues with, but lately if I find a game too difficult or frustrating on Normal difficulty I stop playing it because it is not balanced.
@@rangertony I'm the same. I don't feel the need to go to harder difficulties. I usually stick to normal or easy since at the end of the day im playing games to have fun. Not get irritated with games.
Thank you - I took a lot of burn just burning through crap videos before I got to this one. Great info, well presented. Love your work.
Thank you for showing some basic gameplay and not only sharing a build like most other youtubers do!
Glad you enjoyed!

Thanks for the info
Also gives medium and heavy armor prof, this applies from lvl 1, only the shield infusion is lvl4+ as started in the info text

Wonderful video sir! I am just starting this class and had no idea how the melee mechanics worked. Thank you for the step by step.
Seriously the most helpful video on Kineticist. I created one and was kinda.....confused, as the first assassin all I was doing was punching.
Great video, every class seemed to be pretty straight forward using the standard D&D classes I picked up over the years but this one threw me. But this video really cleared up a lot of that confusion.
THANK YOU for this. Best vid for this class. I was so confused.
Thanks a lot for these vids, I've been scratching my head about the Kineticist for a while now. I'm definitely going to try one myself!

Thanks for the clarification
Bruv, thanks for the legit break down. Playing WotR and all these other youtube vids were just kinda scatter shot with their explanations.

Thanks Tony! I didn't figure out Kineticists until [END DUNGEON], but without your help I never would have at all. :C
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much man. This is the best kineticist explanation video. The demonstration really helps.
Glad it helped!
Very useful, cleared a lot of my confusion with this class. I am gonna try making one now. Probably the knight :) Thanks.
This was brilliant thank you.
Had n idea about half the stuff Kineticist could do.
Subbed, liked. 😊
best Kineticist video .. thank you so much
You are welcome!
Exactly what i was looking for! Thanks
Glad I could help!

Anyway, thanks!
Another wonderful video!
Extremely helpful video! Thank you!
Glad I could be of help
really cool video, thanks man.
Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the video. Lotta good info....
Wow, finally I got how it works. Time to respec then!

Thanks a lot this is the video I needed!
Glad it was helpful!
thank you ranger tony
I know I'm 2 years late, but thanks for the explanation. ;)
Glad it helped!

Very useful video thanks a bunch!
spell pen doesnt work? says +2 to overcome spell resistance. doesnt say has to be a spell
What's the best(most dps) element combos?
When I use Kinetic Knight in turn based mode, the damn thing wont attack. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? I turn TB off, and he attacks fine, but sometimes I need TB on for a fight.
Hmm not sure what you could be doing wrong
Its some kind of bug. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I just made a new game and ran into the same problem with other toons. Thanks!
It seems like it’s just a different package for the spells we already have
Yea but they dont suffer all the weaknesses of spells.
Ooh, a heart for a years-old comment. Sweet! 😉
Or you can just be a fighter with a bow. Just throwing that out there for you all.
Where is that portrait from?
It is a portrait mod pack I downloaded

Ok, so, are kineticists psionics then?
