Flying the TBM940 - Single Pilot IFR Airways Flight in a Garmin G3000 Turboprop - ILS and ATC Audio

- Flying the TBM 940 from Wycombe (EGTB) crossing the channel to Jersey (EGJJ) in one of the world most capable single engine Turboprop aircraft. Only a 40 minute short trip starting in a VFR uncontrolled airfield, transitioning to IFR within the London control zone, then airways followed by an ILS landing at Jersey using runway 26. Landing at Jersey on of the Red Arrows departing after the airshow the day before has a landing gear emergency, and there is a spitfire waiting at the holding point for us to land.
Use of the Garmin G3000 avionics and autothrottle, Foreflight to aid with flight planning, weather and navigation (and the very useful flight stream!).

Solid pre-flight planning and trip brief! All the Garmin G3000 panels are beautiful and layed out well. Man that TBM climbs like a home-sick angel! Thanks Jon, the G3000 is great and the logic is very similar to the G1000 which made the transition easier. The TBM is a great performer. I only spent 30 minutes is Jersey as I was picking up some friends for a further trip, but decided not to film that one! It wasn’t the best weather but I have seen it a lot worse on the island! 😄👍

Greetings Richard from California - Nice to get reacquainted with Jersey approach where I did my flight training with Jersey flying club - it appears considerable changes have occurred - GA is where the freight terminal used to be. The TBM940 is impressive - you should bring it to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022. You will have a blast!

Richard Till I checked I was unaware how close your airfield is to R'Worth, where I now live.I love follow your flights to see you show us all the great improvements in Avionics since the '70s. That's when I flew as PPL VMC with Twin rating.Operated out of LBA one of the worst airports for terrible weather. Landed at Elstree ,Denham.Leavesden. Northolt and **Heathrow. There used to be a gap for an hour AM & PM when prop aircraft were allowed in , our landing speed in the Cessna 310 because of following Big jet traffic had to be nearly the same as take off speed lol.** With special clearance
Hi Jeffery! Thanks so much for that! Avionics have taken a huge leap forward recently, especially so in GA. I still love to get back in an aircraft with a good six pack though, you feel like you have achieved more! Sounds amazing that Heathrow would allow smaller GA aircraft in, that would be a dream for most GA pilots these days!
