    Great review and info. I was on the fence with this truck having owned a Tacoma and a Frontier. The Ridgline will meet my needs perfectly as a hunter, homeowner, and regular ol’ working dad. I just traded in my 2012 Frontier for a 2019 Ridgline Black Edition and I couldn’t be happier. These things are amazing. I used to be in the “this is not a real truck” crowd... not any more.

    Although this review is 3+ years old, Jason did a great job featuring the great utility and featuers of the 2017 Ridgeline. I owned a 2006 for 6 years (loved it) and then waited for the new body style to buy my second (2017 Ridgeline Black Edition). Folks that need the utility of a truck that can fit in a normal garage, the Ridgeline is to you. Honda quality, great ride and great features.

      +You Tube - would you say that the base model GM twins are trucks? They carry less payload and tow less, but nobody says that they aren't "trucks". Or maybe the F150 isn't a truck because it is made of aluminum instead of steel. If this isn't a truck, what are its nearest competitors?

      Anyone can do better than TFL, those guys are L-A-M-E. Good job, HPJ!! I actually like the fact that you are so Honda-biased. My first car was a used 1978 Accord 3-door hatch with HondaMatic tranny!! (I bought it in 1982 after I got out of Army Basic Training!!) I've also owned a '76 3-door Civic manual; a '96 Civic EX Sedan 5 speed manual; a '01 CR-V EX; a 2002 Civic EX (the worst Civic EVER!!); and currently have an '06 Pilot EX. Great company that has had a few hiccups, but I think that they are back on track.

    • @TFLcar
      @TFLcar Před 8 lety +4

      Roman says, Prey tell what new technology do you mean? Stability control? Independent Suspension? Navigation? Direct Injection? Perhaps a power sliding rear window? GM, Toyota, Ford, Ram, Nissan been there done that. What about cylinder deactivation? Diesel Engines? Air Suspension? Factory Trailer Brake Controller? Back up Trailer Assist? Turbo Charging? Off-Road PKGs with underbody protection? Aluminum Body Construction? This is the "new technology" that the competitors bring to the market. Perhaps this is why they outsell the Ridgeline 100 to 1. And Roman adds...."Oh Yeah and Get off my lawn" ;-)

This truck is growing on me and I'm starting to love it and it makes complete sense how they made it and how it's 50% it's own. really enjoyed your review- just bought an RTL-E 2 days ago and was looking for tips and tricks on the truck and came across you video- lots of good information! For all the haters out there- this truck is just perfect for us. We live in the city, but do lots of home gardening and woodworking projects and this truck is perfect. In addition its comfortable to drive, super easy to park (used to have a Ford 150 with 6 foot bed...ugh to park), and super easy to do everyday things like get groceries and use the in bed trunk (again, ugh to put groceries in the back seat or bed of the 150). if I needed to haul a "horse trailer", I wouldn't buy this, so stop saying what it can't do. Its like saying don't get a speed boat because you can't haul shipping crates from China on it. It does what it is designed to do.

    I like the advantage of having a truck bed, but prefer the driving dynamics of an suv. This seems like the compromise we need... Decent fuel mileage, nice ride, love the hidden trunk in the bed... Often when we are out and about we make several stops, being able to put bags of chicken feed, in the trunk, then run to the grocery store, without moving things from the bed to the inside to keep from someone stealing things is great

    2 questions:
    Did any of the Honda reps say when the Ridgeline will be available / for sale??
    What trim line includes the power sources in the truck bed (the in-sidewall place you had the drill battery charging) ?

    Hey Jason would love to see a factory tour of the Ridgeline being made. Great job on this. This is such a cool truck, very user friendly. Also, Jason when you are talking to Honda R&D can you ask them why they won't offer and all wheel drive Civic sedan and Accord sedan. I know they had the Crosstour, but I think the new Accord sedan would be great with All Wheel Drive. Thanks.

      The Ridgeline is beautifully engineered. However, it is not different. It was a result of limited resources that gave birth to a Pilot/Odyessey based truck. Beautiful Truck, very great to own, but not different. Toyota can do the same thing doing a Highlander based Truck. However, Toyota does height the Engineering and the resources to do two different version of their midsize truck for different parts of the world. I consider the Ridgeline a beautifully built Pilot with a bed, with reinforcements needed to have a trouble free long life. Great job by Honda, but made this way because of their limited resources.

    I would like to know more about the suspension lay out ,is caster and camber adjustable at all or is it like the double wish bone independent suspension where only toe is adjustable ? I can see this thing needing a 4 wheel alignment every time you take it out on a trail,in all fairness their test course could be done by anyone in a passenger car ,any 4x4 truck you buy is going to perform mediocre at best off road it doesn't matter how many inches you lift it you'll still get shamed by anyone with a bone stock wrangler trying to make a truck that does everything only makes a truck that can't do anything well,I'm currently in the market for a 4x4 midsized truck and haven't found one worth buying yet ,I'm beginning to think the best option is just to buy a jeep and a small utility trailer for when I have to do "truck stuff" .

    Any way to get it a couple more inches higher? I love this thing, but even Subaru has 8.7" of ground clearance. For mild off road and camping 9 or 10 inches would be very nice! Thanks for the review, very well done and I would say better than the others.
