Glad it worked for you. It didn't impact my phone till now and many have been using it too. If you feel it is impacting your phone in any way simply delete the app at that point.
Thanks Harry! Well done. I watched the video many times to get those settings just right. I am connecting wireless using my Z Flip 4 (Android v13). I noticed my phone heats up pretty fast, especially since I have to keep the phone screen on the whole time I am watching from the car screen. Any thoughts on how I can minimize the work my flip phone is doing? Is there a setting that will allow me to close the flip without killing the head unit? Unfortunately, my 2017 Mercedes does NOT have a touch screen. The only way I was able to get Android Auto for it was to buy the GTA conversion kit.
Glad it worked for you! I'm not really sure what app or feature can help conserving the battery life. However, upon some research just now, I found out 1 app that might just do the trick. It's called the black screen and it's available in play store. See if that helps. Do let me know too if it does work so that I can let everyone here know as well.

How did you manage to have the app in the android auto menu on the car? I followed every step but looks like the app is installed only on the phone but not on the android auto
@@simeonpetrov4398 You have to have developer mode turned on in your phones android auto. Than under developer options you can choose to show unknown sources.
Hy Harry, thanks for the video, the app works good on Ford Sync 3.4. Regarding to the app, it doesn't show the video from Netflix or other Sattelite TV app. It shows the menu, audio works, but the image of the movie it's not being shown(on telephone is playing ok). It's from scrren2auto app or from my sync 3.4? Thanks and much appreciated 🙏.
Happy to know that it worked for you. Regarding Netflix and other such apps, the apps themselves have restricted mirroring access on the car's head units and is common for all factory fitted infotainment systems. I get the same issue you are facing as well. Unfortunately, there is no way around that using any app whatsoever in my extensive testing. But if I use install new version with king installer, Screen2auto doesn't show up to my screen anymore. I go back to your version (3.6.4), then still work... Any way to install the latest apps?

I was able to get everything to work as shown in the video, however, no videos from any apps, Netflix, Disney, spectrum none will play video. Video shows on phone and only audio over vehicle. But, Pluto tv app works and some of Plex. Lots of errors now trying to use Plex. I was under the impression screen2auto would direclty mirror phone to HU. Some apps on phone work with HU others do not. Somewhat of a nightmare getting to this point only to be let down. I will say your tutorial/video was spot on. Very good material. Thankyou.
I'm glad you found my video useful! I've been looking for a solution to the Netflix, Disney, etc. apps for AA but I've found absolutely nothing in the last few years that actually works. I've tried everything and still no luck at all. Yeah some apps like plex did work but the content is no match to the other apps which is why I deleted the app many months ago. I'm still looking for proper solution to netflix and hopefully I'll find something to showcase in one of my future videos. I did find out that rooted phones are able to view the videos in head units along with audio but neither have I tried it myself nor do I recommend it as that will void the phone's warranty.
@@HarryWT Harry, somewhat related to topic, is there a way to get AA and apps such as carstream , fermata etc to play/view on rear monitor? I'm using the wired version of AA on 2016 Tahoe. Others I've seen using the DLNA for wireless connectivity with AA to both HU and rear but I do not have the wireless capability. My AA only displays on front HU. A work around that I've used for both front and rear is using a screambeammini2 dongle (HDMI to VA converter) with RCA component under aux option from rear console to mirror the phone without restrictions, however picture quality is greatly reduced from HDMI to analog. I also have video in motion module installed so viewing while in drive isn't a problem. Carstream with/Plex or S2A under AA is the goal on both front and rear screens. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Harry, hopefully you can help. Previously I was able to get Pluto to play videos with no problem using S2A , now everything is mirrored to HU except video. Screen goes black. I uninstalled everything from S2A and reinstalled and same problem. Also cannot get phone screen to auto flip 90° on HU . Any ideas?
@@jbucks166 for the black screen you'll have to try selecting either of the 3 profiles repeatedly and reconnect a few times as it isn't really streamlined yet, in my experience. for the screen orientation, go to screen settings in the app and select the desired orientation in the second option. 5:50

I launch s2a and click on the applications, select e.g. WhatsApp and in auto the screen is black with a white dot, and in telephony the WhatsApp application starts. There is no image from the phone on the screen in the car. My smartphone is Xiaomi mi 9tpro, Android 11. The car is Skoda Superb 3 2016. What could be wrong?
Hi. Either of the 3 profiles usually work and sometimes need to restart the phone in between switching profiles in order to get it to working properly. Please try with another cable as well.
Unfortunately it didn't help. I tried via cables and via carlinkit 5.0. After clicking on any application (on the radio screen), the smartphone turns on and the radio screen is black with a dot.

Yes. In my car on the right side there's a clock which can be swiped vertically to cycle between the AC control, maps, compass and click. And on the left side (the bigger one) I am able to view the videos. This seems to be similar for most car infotainment units. See if that works for you too.

I have a question, but when I chose "Setting2 (Poco)" of "Altanative Touch" of "Setting" on Pixel6Pro as explained in the video, I was able to scroll the touch screen, but the touch sensitivity was poor and the app Difficult to start.....

So I've just followed everyone of your steps with everything downloaded from your site. Everything seems to work on profile2 except my streaming apps (Netflix, AmazonPrimeVideo, ect...) show everything except the actual video. Strange cause things like NC17 and other display things show, and scrolling the playback bar show the screenshots as you go. Any ideas?
Yeah, those apps don't allow screen mirroring. That's why you can see just a black screen and possible the subtitles too. There is no solution for that as of now, unfortunately.

Hi Harry, I have the latest Peugeot 308 with android auto. Always used AA Mirror but with the android 13 update last year it was broken. Now I've followed all your steps correctly. But somehow now my car won't connect to my phone again (only with bluetooth for phone audio/streaming) but connect through android auto is broken it seems. Restarted the car and phone at least 5 times. Tried with USB also but won't connect again. Even deleted the Screen2Auto app and reinstalled Android Auto on my phone. But still no android auto connection. I'm using Samsung S20 FE just like in your video. Any help or tips would be great! Thank you!
Hi Rob. That's a first to be honest, never heard anyone's android auto stopped working. Did you uninstall the screen2auto app from your phone? If not, please try that.
And if that doesn't work then you might have to go to phone settings -> apps -> android auto -> 3 dots -> uninstall updates. Then restart your phone. Then update android auto. Then try connecting and see if that worked for you. Ideally it should as everything is good as new now.

Do multimedia controls work with this app? For example of I press the next button on my steering wheel will it play the next CZcams video or start playing Spotify?
For me they work fine, plays the next youtube video and even volume buttons work all from the steering wheel
@@HarryWT On my car and phone it just plays Spotify. I tried disabling Spotify but then the forward and back buttons don't do anything. Volume works however.

Screen2Auto was installing fine on my phone through AAAD but after the march update it won't show up in AA launcher after installing it. It was still working after the update but I uninstalled it to change some settings and after uninstalling it I can't get it to show back up in AA. This march update really messed up my set up. It's aggravating. Any suggestions? I've tried AAEase but that doesn't work either.

Hi followed your video and it worked perfectly on my Motorola edge 30 ultra , I just have one problem when not connected to android auto the phone keeps going from 100% brightness to 50% brightness by itself the automatic brightness is turned off too. Any idea why it's doing this ? Thanks again
Glad it worked for you. Maybe it has something to do with the app settings that we checked. Try changing the brightness, or anything similar, from there.
At 6:42 the Fix Netflix option help us to play netflix on the screen? As for now netflix is not running i can just hear the voice and see subtitles
Unfortunately, Netflix doesn't allow screen mirroring which is why all we see is subtitles. Have been looking for a way around it but no such luck yet.

I haven't really tried but I'm guessing those also work similar to Netflix and because of their own protocols we won't be able to mirror the video while the audio may work.
This app has worked well for months with no problems.. Now its asking for version 3.7 and won't load up.. Ive deleted it went back through the steps and it's kicks me out when I get to the point of adjusting "other settings" can you help?

Glad to know s2a is working for you. However, with reference to OTT apps like Netflix, there is no workaround to mirror it on the car screen as I've tried every possible method. Hi. I appreciate your kind words and am glad everything worked out for you. Unfortunately, the AA Mirror and AA Mirror plus stopped working on all my phones. There doesn't seem to be any solution to that as of now. I'm still looking into it though. And yeah, there isn't any solution for netflix, amazon, etc. I tried a lot of methods but none of them worked.
The issue with streaming Apps such as Netflix etc is that they have DRM protection and is set to block video playback whilst a vehicle is in motion for road safety.

Don't download either the AA Mirror or AA Mirror plus as they no longer work for most of us. Did you try this app? You can also sideload the apps without AAAD as shown in the later parts of this series.

Hopefully it will work on an android device straightaway. But screen mirroring is an issue with Netflix, doesn't work.

Glad to help! The problem may be due to an incompatible phone unless the infotainment unit didn't come preinstalled in your car. If none of the 3 options worked even after several attempts then I'm afraid this method won't work for you. Nonetheless, you can try several other ways to watch the videos. I've tried your steps 1000x no success! I am unable to add screen2auto to the android auto launcher section in the setup, I am running version 14 on my Pixel 7pro, any suggestions? At the end when I's supposed to close s2a app, and reopen following connection to my vehicle the app remains on the setup screen and I get a message in Russian telling me there is a new version 3.7 and my only choice is to get redirected to that page. Very dissapointing .
ok so there are a few things to note here. all android version 14 phones are facing an issue with every other android auto app such as this one. second, pixel phones work differently which is why I bought 7a to resolve issues, no luck yet unfortunately. third, the new version must be the updated version since this video was uploaded a few months ago. you can try that new version and see if it works.

I made a mistake and proceeded without enabling all the permissions you mentioned here 5:08. Is it possible to get back to that screen, or will i have to uninstall and wait 30 days before i can DL again from AAAD?
You can try going to phone settings, app settings and enabling all the permission there.

Try reopening it like I showed. Takes a few re-openings to get it working sometimes. Alternatively, select a different profile.

It's basically because the app is not available in google playstore. You may choose not to install it, I understand since this is a 3rd party app and we don't know how safe it actually is.

Not yet. These streaming apps have made it real hard to get around these settings.
I did everything according to the instructions but no car2stream appears in Android Auto....no matter how I install it. Have Android 13 and the current Android Auto ... as well as the apps from the link

What about reverse camara? Can we see the camara preview both in mobile and head unit?
If you are able to see the rear camera view on your mobile AND are able to screen mirror the phone's screen on the car's head unit then you should be able to see it there as well. Which dashcam are you using?
Turning on Screen2Auto app under Accessibility Installed Apps then forces my Chrome to Change from Cards and Tabs view to a single list. Anyway to stop it from doing that?

I'm not really sure why it didn't work for you. Where did you download the s2a app? Try redoing everything but use my apps instead, both of them.

Tried it ,installed but not showing on phone screen. Also no option of unknown sources in developer mode (picel 7 pro).
Unfortunately, this issue seems to be limited to just the pixel phones for some reason. Still looking into a possible workaround to it.

Yes, it's normal. Unfortunately, these apps have themselves restricted mirroring capabilities on car screens which is why we usually get the black screen with working audio and subtitles. Unfortunately, Netflix and other such apps won't work as screen mirroring in car is not allowed by those apps.

I got it working using your download links to my Samsung Galaxy ZFlip4, but the CZcams image on my car's infotainment screen is rather small. It's not going to full screen like it does in Carstream or Fermata...and I have the full screen setting in CZcams enabled. Is there a way to switch to full screen? Thanks in advance...
Glad it worked for you. Unfortunately, I won't be able to tell you the settings to make the videos full screen as they seem to be system specific and would be different in your car model.
@@HarryWT I figured out how to get full screen, but I think I'll have to re-download the app because I accidentally accepted an Android Auto update last night, and now I'm getting a blank screen when I select the app in my car.

@HarryWT The new Android Auto update didn't appear to call out any significant changes from the previous version I had. I would think deleting the app and starting over from the beginning would get it back up and running. Carstream and Fermata are still working fine...
@HarryWT Update...I re-installed the Screen2Auto app using your tutorial and got everything back up and running. Good to know in case anyone does an Android Auto update. The app functions may still work, but if they don't, you can always re-install to get it working again...

It is working on my Galaxy z fold 4 wirelessly but there's an audio and video out-of-sync issue. Any solutions to this problem? The other issue is the black screen when running Netflix. I thought one of the purposes of screen mirroring apps like screen2auto was to be able to mirror apps like Netflix that don't work natively in Android Auto.
Glad it worked for you. There will be a bit of lag in a wireless connectivity when compared to a wire. Netflix along with other OTT platforms don't allow screen mirroring, we can only see the subtitles and hear the audio with no video.
I was wondering if Netflix would work also. What about Hulu, Amazon Video or any other video streaming apps work?

I noticed it didn't work for me either the first few times but then it worked. You can try that. There doesn't seem to be any other alternative though.
@HarryWT Thanks for taking the time to reply. I tried again with turning the car off before changing the touch option. I have touch now but it's quirky. Will try options again to see if it improves.
Success. Everything's working. Keys for me: Turn on Accessibilty in settings. Native touch setting did not work at all. Alternative 1 was good for TAP but not scroll. Alternative 2 was good for scroll not touch. Alternative 3 is good for all. I shut off car before trying each new option. Yay! Thanks again.

I have the app turned on is accessibility, and switched the option 3 in the app. Shut all apps, turned off car, etc. Booted everything back up, but no touch.

I recently bought a wireless dongle (AA Wireless) that allows me have wireless Android Auto. Any idea if the methods outlined here are possible with my set up? Or do I need to be hard wired (USB-A to USB-C) to my phone?

Sorry, I haven't come across such an issue so I cannot confirm the solution to this. Perhaps you can check the phone settings maybe some feature or application is causing this issue.

Correct. Those apps have set a limitation on android auto because of which we cannot see the video while audio is there. No solution to that in terms of apps. But you can use an external device for that, video out tomorrow: czcams.com/video/sRhK496wM_Y/video.html

I have Android 14 my smartphone is Google Pixel 6a and Android auto 11, it no longer works, I cannot activate all the buttons of screen2auto, android blocks the process (restricted parameter)
