  • In this impromptu interview, the table has been turned where David Addison interviews me about an image I captured of a hydro pole at night. Plus, I succumb to massive pressure from David and others to start doing something I never thought I'd do. Watch to find out more.

    Thank you, David, for doing this. And thank you for thinking so much of my image that it made you WANT to do this.

    I suppose you can have your channel back. Nicely done, Greg 🤗

      Thanks David. And thanks for the push with this 😊

    Great to see you both in the one video. You had me laughing out loud, standing on a crowded tram with my headphones in… people started staring at me, weirdly! Love the idea of Greg talking to a photo of you David!

    David, I found you in the same way that Greg did, and I subscribed immediately. You are excellent. And Greg, I found you because the "Australian Bloke" touted the iPhoneography podcast. It took one listen for me to subscribe to that. Thank you both for all you do for us mere mortals. It means a lot. And I have been doing some astrophotography with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. The same procedure you use, but I now use Photopills and Stellarium to locate what I want to shoot. It sucks a bit because a Bortle 5 is the best I can do anywhere near. My editing leaves something to be desired, but learning how is a hoot. Thanks again to you both.

      Thank you so much for the kind words, Wilbur. I’m confident you’ll nail a great astro shot sooner than later. 🙂

    From my experience the Foto-App does do some funny things with the data, even in RAW. These 30 seconds as I understand it are more like a 30 second movie stacked internally. The results are amazing, but when I tried to stack ten of those images it turned out really weird and was impossible to fix with my LR-knowledge. In the middle it was overly bright and in the periphery so dark it was impossible to get it balanced. I might look for an app where I can really manually adjust shutter speed and so on. Thx for the video!

      The 30 second Night Mode shot on the iPhone isn’t a movie, it’s three 10 second exposures stacked together. It used to be ten 3 second exposures but it changed in either the 13 Pro or the 14 Pro. For editing these types of images, the Photos app doesn’t do well. You need the Dehaze feature in Lr to bring out the galactic core. I recommend checking out Shayne Mostyn’s channel via the link in the description and look for his videos where he shows how to capture and edit a shot like this.

    Love this, but how do you take a 30 second photo on the standard iPhone camera app? I cannot find anywhere on there or online showing how to adjust the shutter speed to 30 seconds or longer without having to download a separate camera app.

    • @TheiPhoneographyPodcast
      @TheiPhoneographyPodcast  Před 9 dny +1

      You have to use the Apple Camera app and in Night Mode, set the length of the shot to 30 seconds. You can only do this when the phone is on a tripod or sitting on something still. If you try it handheld you can only go 10 seconds. The Apple Camera app is the only app that can capture the Milky Way.

    LOL... that matrix stuff is called Videofeedback, Nvidia has created a broadcast app that using Ai will move your eyes to look straight at the camera even if you are not...

    What about shortly? Is it edited from not 1picture or edited from just 1picture? And 30sec shutterspeed was? But why not smashed in 30sec as earth rotating?

    In bortle9 area I'm no astro expert! But when occasionally I see them Lightroom Effects Texture has a dramatic effect.

    I wonder if it's possible to get this pic unedited or edited on the web at its native resolution ? cos I would love to try some stuff on it. Awesome photo even without edits.
