Cheers mate. You may notice that they are locked ON to the rotating bits. The bolts themselves are not meant to spin in this set up, only the bearing that the assembly clamps on to. In that case, the locking medium, castellated nuts and split pins, or lock nuts, would not really matter
I have to say it is always the left hand thread nut that falls off and goes for a walk if a turnbuckle comes loose, sorry I did shout at the screen "Try turning it the other way Don", we have all been there 🙂 I am sure you will come up with a few, 'If I wish I had done that, rather than this', moments. The tail look very nice indead, you got the curves just spot on.
Haha thanks mate. I knew I’d stuffed up and there was no wriggling out of it! I know I was a bit slow on working it out…maybe your future “encouragement” finally punched in! I’m keen to see how everything shakes down in the testing phase, I’m definitely in that place where I’m going over everything in my mind and trying not to second guess myself. I’m glad the lines worked out, I spent a bit of time trying to get it looking right
@@donwtsn Don you would not be human if you did not have a brain fart every now and again. As I said it is always the left hand thread nut that goes walk about, as you never have one spare, or if you do, you can't find it. 🙂 The norm when I was in the RAF, was to fit the Left hand thread section of a turn buckle on either a fixed structure or the shorter cable.
@@donwtsn We did it like that so we would always know which one was left hand thread. It was fun to put one on the other way around and watch people do just as you did (but often with blue words).
Cant wait to see the wings on!!! Awesome job!!!!!
Thanks mate. Me too!
Nice Lines on the tail surfaces!! NICE!
Thanks mate
Go, Uncle Donny! Woo! 🎉
Haha thanks Woody!
Your airplane is looking great , you are a "artisan" the work that you have put into this project is meticulous again Don well done
Thanks mate. I appreciate that, cheers
I love the Super Cub tail feathers Don.
Thanks mate, they were worth the effort I reckon
I see self locking nuts on rotating components. That's a big no-no. Castle nuts and split pins!

The sun's gunna shine so bright off this bird Ducky! Bloody great work bro!!
Thanks bro! I don’t know if it’s going to sparkle, or just reflect everything and blend in….definitely need the sunnies though!

It’s amazing how that happens huh! Keeping the left hand threads on the short end is a good trick

Looking good. Love the polished plane. Can’t wait to see it fly!!!!
Thanks mate, I can’t wait to get it flying too!
Nice Yoke ;)
Cheers mate, are yokes your thing? Hope you and your mob are going well mate
Does that cool hold down weight/yoke have a part number starting with a 204? Hehe @donwtsn
Can’t read the part number, it seems to have been ground off….but I believe it would
A Don Watson video without a basher.?.
Hehe, this the result of bashing!
