the 2 lenses for me.. my contact lenses.. yep can't live without them
You left out the focal length my friend.
Im dead xD
The laugh I just put down 😭😭
Hahaha
Yup, obviously not a photographer
50mm GM 1.2 and 70-200 Gm II, although the 2 lenses you listed are also in my bag, can’t go wrong with those!
50 1.2 for me. That lens doesn't come off my cam.
Amen the 50 1.2 and 70-200 2.8 are my go to duo. I stopped carrying my bag and only carry the 50 on me these days 🤣
50mm 1.2 definitely the sweet spot
Any 24-70 2.8
@@idrisstdj A 24-70mm and 85mm are two lenses I couldn't live without doing portraits/weddings.
I would love 50mm and 35mm primes, but the compromise would be having the 24-70mm and it gives me those focal lengths as well as 24mm for groups which is super useful. And serves double duty as a general purpose lens.
But 24,35,50 mil primes are on my wish list. Already got so many lenses, need to pace myself.😆
100% with the 35 & 85. 99% of my weddings shot with these. 👌
Hope you find the right one soon😅
But 1% where?
@@agavaKostya Maybe he pulls out the 14mm f2.8 Rokinon for that specialty shot.
For people portraits I can’t live without the 800mm 6.3 and the 8mm 2.8 fisheye. (Your videos are looking super polished!)
This made me laugh so much just imagining it 😂 ty
😆
😂😂
You shooting portraits of aliens with that 800mm bruh?
I swear by the 1200mm f0.8 prime
That shot with the blue lighting and that single sliver of light running down the models cheek is so fire
Yeah, a 35 and 85 combo is a must. My first two lenses. I love 50mm, cause it’s hella versatile, but def getting way more done with 35/85. I haven’t bought 70-200 yet cause of 85mm.
Go 135 🤘
@@heartshapedfilms 135 looks craaaaaaazzzzyyyyyy good!
@@MindYaBizz_Whiz love love love 135. Completely negates 70-200 for me. Just that sweet spot
i use a tamron 35-150 f2-f2.8 only lens i ever need now tbh so fkn good
does it get to heavy to carry around
@@hollywoodluxurymedia1044 its by no means light but it is manageable for a day
My guy said, i dont have to stand in a different area code to take a picture
That made me actually laugh out loud 😂
Yeah that was hilarity lol
Yet Manny says he loves his Eye of Sauron... 🤔
Agreed! 35 and 85 and a 105 3rd. 200mm compresses the image too much imo.
How about 135mm though??
@@arieldavid20 not my fav range. 85 and 105 are just the sweet spot I think. If I do need more compression for some reason I'd throw on a 70-200 F2.8 between the 105 and 200mm range. Give me more freedom in the exact amount of compression vs either a 135mm or 200mm prime. For me a bg bokeh with 2.8 is more than enough. And if I want even more blur, there's photoshop.
That sigma 85mm art is one of them and I am still waiting to meet the next lens I can’t live without..
I’m debating whether or not to get the 85mm sigma vs gm 85mm. So you really like the sigma?
@@jamessepulveda189 Bro sigma is really good.
24-70 2.8 gm ii and 70-200 2.8 gm ii are my 2. Fantastic lenses that cover everything I need
70-200 gm II. I don't even need a second lol I'm so in love 😀
I have the v1. Love it except backlit, where it loses a lot of contrast.
The 2 for me, after doing this for a couple years and trying a handful of things. I’m on my f/1.8 nifty fifty. Ol’ reliable. HOWEVER, i use it less and less and on some occasion don’t even take it with me. Because my f/4 24-105 is just giving me some terrific results. I also love moving around with only one lens. And I do mostly shoot portrait but if and when I can, I think I’ll upgrade the nifty to a 85 f/1.2. But the 24-105 is going to be a staple for me for a very long time
A delight looking at your work.
24-70mm f2.8 GM ii. Travel and all good for most settings. Again travel!
50mm f1.2(wish it was 55mm) great prime. Fun to walk around!
Easily my favorite photographer right now
My first lens was the 85 1.8. This year I went with the 35 1.4 and the 85 1.4. I love my 85 and it stays on my camera.
Why not the 85mm f1.2 version?
I guess you only shoot portrait?
I gotta go 50mm 1.2 GM & 135mm 1.8 GM for my favorites Manny
I totally agree with you ! Hands down
Same
Totally agree.
For portraits, 24-70mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.2. If I had to add a third it be a 70-200mm.
If I could only have one, it be an 85mm.
And this is from practical experience because when starting out the 85mm f/1.2 was my only portrait lens and I could make do with just that. It is wide enough I can walk back and get a couples shot or get in close for a tight head shot. The extremely wide f/1.2 aperture allows for great background separation but not only that a gorgeous fall off of DOF that renders sharp eyes and the rest starts to fall out of focus. In my opinion any portraits kit should have some kind of 85mm prime in there, it is indispensable.
And I would have to agree, a 35mm prime is SOOOO good as an environmental portrait lens. I can see why he loves it.
What's great about those images isn't the glass, it's the light.
It's the babes
@@daaljones9584 hahahah
for weddings yes, but not allways need light.
@@daaljones9584they got some well stacked ladies in Chicago NGL.
The 50 f 1.2 Gm is the KING no one else
I used to be in a team 35mm but right now I use mostly 50mm and enjoyed it as much. Both are great.
Exactly. You're a better photographer because of that.
@@matrixatebecause he's using 50 mm or? I'm deciding between 35 and 55 RN
@@PuReXtremeGamingBecause if the 35mm. That lens is the number choice for learning and sets you up to add the 85mm. Gee...isn't that what Ortiz said? There's a reason why he mentioned it. If you had to choose for a first all around lens, the 35mm. If you want to take pictures of just people close up, then 85mm. 50mm is kind of in between. Tbh, there's no right or wrong answer, but with a good 35mm like the GM f1.4, it covers every situation better than the 50mm.
@@matrixate except your replied to a comment of someone saying they left 35 for 50 and enjoy both so it implies that going to a 50 made him better photographer that's how I saw what you comment wrote my understanding
@@PuReXtremeGaming Sorry bro. Conveying all my thoughts in a sentence, can be a bit challenging. What my reply implied was that he used a 35mm and discovered that he needed a lens with tighter framing. It doesn't mean he's a better photographer, it means that he was able to discern from his style of shooting that he typically goes tighter. You see...he couldn't have done that with a 50mm in smaller places, but he could with a 35mm. That's usually the case with everyone that gets a 50mm first...they find that they want tighter shots. However, people that go with a 50mm lens as their first lens typically find they need a wider lens. If that is the case, then the perfect combination is the 85mm. This is well-known to all professional photographer. Any pro photographer has a 35mm and an 85mm in their bag. Now, on the other hand, a 50mm marries up with a 24mm. The best option is to rent a 35mm and a 50mm. Seriously. If you really are into this, you'll make the small investment because a good lens...is not cheap. I say, the 35mm is better because you can take wider shots in small places. You can't do that with a 50mm. A 35 covers the 50mm field of view. The 50mm doesn't. The 35mm is more forgiving for shakiness. The 50mm is just a little more demanding of steadiness. This is especially true when filming video. Ok...that should be enough now. Any more information, I'll have to bill you.
70-200 GM II and 20 1.8 G
Both such amazing lenses
85 mm is always my go to lens for portrait photography
Since I use Fujifilm it would be the 23 1.4 and the 50 f1.0
Easily a 24-70 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8.
From wide angle to telephoto you’re covered !
Agreed!
16-35 f.2 GM zoom lens 😊 is all I need for my needs ❤️ and 24-70 f.2 sony GM😊
Tamron 35-150 and Sony 200-600. I have primes too but if I had to give up all my lenses and only keep two, these would be my two.
Started 35/85 but these days I’m leaning more to 35/70-180mm f2.8
My eyes are the 2 lens a definately can't live without 😌
35mm and 70-200 f2.8 gm 2. It’s the god tier of the zooms. I’ve had the canon, Nikon (dslr days) and the gm1. The gm 2 is crazy good
Good job Manny . I’ve been following you since you started vlogging . You always give a great clear concise advice . 👍
When you say “create separation” and you’re talking about the 35mm.. who is that model. 😍😍
It might be Devin Olson.
czcams.com/video/PrTyYvgil1k/video.html
35 and 85 are my favorite focal lengths for most of what I shoot. Trying to be practical, I’d probably want a 35mm and 70-200 2.8.
If I had to do only one lens - the new Tamron 35-150 f/2-2.8 would absolutely be my choice!
24-70mm 2.8 - i use this 90% of the time and the second would be 32mm 1.4 its such an amazing lens (Canon EF-M fitments)
for me, i used a6400 for amost 4 years, based on my experience i love 56mm 1.4 sigma and kit lens. 56mm are extreme sharp. its good opponent when battle with sharpness as compare to full frame with normal lens.
My 105mm F1.4E and 58mm f1.4G
Fancy lol
85mm 1.4 Sigma is gonna be my next lens for sure 🤝🏻
It’s been a year.. did you ever get it?
@@ChasetheLights13 funny that you ask, some stuff came in between (lost my job, life, but all good now) and I'm ordering it coming week 😂
As a studio portrait photographer Nikkor 105mm, similar to the 85mm but just a little better in every way and much lighter than the Sigma 105mm and Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 Nokton. Not as soft wide open as the Nikkor 58mm f/1.4G or as expensive as Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 Noct. It isn't perfect but it just works. Also bonus, it is a great lens to adapt to APSC.
For portraits I can’t live without the nikkor Ais 105 f2.5. And the zeiss distagon zf.2 35mm f2. Both lenses are sharp wide open with superb micro contrast.
Well. If I can only have 2 lenses, I’ll get the 24mm 1.4 GM and the 24-70mm 2.8 GM G2
I can't live without my 24-105mm and 200-600mm lens from Sony. Just missing out on the 106-199mm range but that's fine by me.
Heck...I also use 35mm and 85mm only for weddings! The other lens Inuse is a 100mm macro for rings and also carry Sony's 55mm in case that the reception is in a small place. But the 35/85 combo is the best!
50mm 1.4 and 35mm 1.4. My go to lens any day and all round lens.
I shoot various portrait editorials, mainly fashion. 90% of my work is shot on the Zeiss Otus 1.4/100 and for my wider lenses I usually go with either Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 or with Sony 1.2/50 GM.
However, all that is about to change, because I will soon have enough money to fully switch to Hasselblads X mount!
I’m just starting my photography journey and you’ve provided so much insights! Can’t wait to get started on this craft!
Get a 24-70 2.8 first and then get a good prime 35 or 85, in my opinion sigma art is the best value glass
Those two are my all time fav. 100 % agree with Manny.
24-105MM F/4 great for whatever happens on the urban landscape. 56MM F/1.4 (85MM on crop camera).
Been watching your videos since I switched over to the Sony family. After watching your reviews I picked up the 85mm and as of last month I finally got the 35mm. No regrets, I love them both. Would recommend 10/10
Damn all these pictures are fire! 🔥 35mm is something I cannot live without.
70-200 mm f2.8 and 24-70 2.8 is my favorite
In aps-c mode, 33mm and 56mm! Love it
Studio - 24-70mm f2.8 and a 70-200mm f2.8
Outdoors - 50mm f1.2 and 85mm f1.4 if I can only have 2 ☺️
Sony 24-70 GM2 is my money maker. I'm in the Caribbean, so all my backgrounds are beautiful.
What I appreciate about your videos is you talk gear but show your photos. Some “photographers“ are just shills don’t show any work.
Those are my two fav as well
I shoot a modified helios 44 -2 belomo with full anti glaire coating and a fuji xpro2,and there is nothing more to it,best combo for me
Just got an 85mm and loving it so far 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Keep up the great work 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Now, my Sony 90 f2.8. the colors and sharpness are INSANE!! And my Sigma 50 1.4. nifty fifty, baby!
Much love from Montreal, Manny!!
Last year I almost never took the 85 off of my camera, it's my absolute favorite when I have room to foot zoom. Other than that I switched to the 50. This year I finally got a 35 and use it way more than I thought I would.
24/35 and an 85. I find those 2 focal lengths cover my favourite looks really well
I have a 85mm f1.2 (50mm 1.2 manual lens + 300$ 1.7X teleconverter (on APS - C)), it makes a halio style bokeh with a little vignette, but its perfect for me, I wouldn't use any other lens, Its extremely good, I can highly recommand!
35 , yes. But O love the M mount portraits, I want a 75mm. So attractive.
35G is really the best lens I own …your 5pm preset is my go to for most of my photos 👍🏽🙏🏽
I’m a canon Rf user
I will choose my 85mm 1.2 and 28-70 f2
I always have those with me
Thanks for reminding me to shoot more portraits wide. I almost always grab my 85mm for portraits.
stunning shots brother
50mm 1.2 for video and 24mm 1.4 especially for video shooting indoors and tight spaces also with sony focus breathing compensation it becomes close to a 30mm
good point
Ay same two that I would choose! But not just for portraits but also video!
Really loved the canon 70-200 2.8 it was very versatile and the pics just seemed like they were photoshoped out of the camera. The other is a 58mm helio. The helio is butter bokeh.
I am a Nikon Z shooter, but the lenses I always go toward based on the situation:
All Around: 27-70 & 70-200 2.8
Portraits: 35mm & 85mm 1.8
I can't live without these.
Awesome picks you to have there Manny!
Same goes for me for portrait. 35 f 1.4 and 85mm f 1.4 are my favorite portrait lenses as well. I have both 50mm and 135mm lenses too but I hardly use them.
I'm sorry but ever since I got the Tamron 35-150 f2/2.8, that's the one and only lens I can't live without. Throw that little 85mm Sigma on top of that for portraits, and you're all set
Hands down my two favorite lenses
I agree … lovely focal lengths although I also adore the work of Saul Leiter he did legendary work with telephotos perhaps 135mm or 150mm….
Mine Favourite and all time hands on 50mm 1.8 and 24-105mm f4
I always gotta have a sigma 18-35 in the bag, it might be basic, but it's sharp af and it always gets the job done.
Definitely my 135GM and my 35mm too.
Canon RF28-70 f2. I love primes but since I got this lens it is my go to for events and Weddings. The photos say way more than I can tell you!
my 85 1.8, andddd, still deciding what my second fav lense is.
My two go to portrait lenses are my RF 28-70mm F2 and my RF 85mm F1.2.
35 1.4 and 100 2.8 macro. That lense is actually a beast for portraits. Very slept on lens.
I like 50 1.2 and 105 1.4
Just bought the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DG DN. Looking at the Sony 35mm 1.4 GM. Bulls eye when this short video came up. 👍🏻 Great Manny!
28 and 40 for me 🖤
I need the 15-35 for real estate photography and then a prime 50mm for videos and things related
Love your content. ❤️👌
That's fair. For portraits like that you can use your feet or cropping to deal with sizing. Fast glass for close and far is the big thing.
Need em both
Same, but 1.8 is good enough for me. At least for the 85mm. 35 great all rounder as I like travelling. 85 great for creative shots where you really have to select your subject, but you can still include selected background details
Very cool!
Manny I agree! I just used the 35mm f1.2 Sigma Art today and I fell in love! Also used the 85mm 1.4. Sigma. I would walk with 2 cameras with these lenses stuck on, period! 👌
Me 100-400 & 105 1.4 good for long range + macro and model shoot.
Have been using just 35 and 85 for the last 5 years and never felt the need to add any other lens.
the only kit lenses that i have🥲
Hi Manny, I also use the both inc the sigma 85, but my other lens that I use is the Sigma 135 1.8, outstanding piece of glass.
Isn’t 135mm too close of a focal distance though?
Same lenses for me! I do like the 24mm 1.4 a lot as well.
28mm is the only one I need. It’s all I use 90% of the time I mainly to photojournalistic stuff and it’s just perfect
Well I have 3 primes, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. If I was forced to downsize I would probably get rid of the 35mm as if you are outdoor you can easily step back with a 50mm to get more environmental background in without making a person look fatter then what then are due to distortion. But I like the 35mm for indoor group photos with limited space.
This is amazing!
