      I guess technically the Arduino is the support platform for the Atmel microcontroller.

      You need to do some reading. Arduinos are not microprocessors. The IC at its core has each element necessary to be a microcontroller. On what definitional basis do you say the Arduino isn’t a microcontroller? The best people in this field can’t figure it out. They abandoned the effort and started talking about embedded systems. The problem is it doesn’t fit that definition either. The people who actually study this pedantic issue call it a developmentboard and admit that the processing IC is a microcontroller.
      People spouting utter trash need to be crushed. Their garbage infects new people and the cycle continues.
      Of course, you may well be a useless troll ... Either way, go away.
