Oh heck no on that ride! Alaska is beautiful, but my gosh, it is wet and cold. The same rattle apart on the bike would be hitting my joints. My huge respect for those who can do it and survive. My dream trip is an overall journey through the lower 48. This country is so vast. You could take a lifetime exploring and still find something new and special to enjoy! Love the video Amanda and pleased to hear about another channel to enjoy. Nice to meet you Chris! You guys crack me up! I really wanted to get to RMR this year. I just couldn’t work it out. I look forward to hearing of you next adventures. Travel safe!

lol Def not for everyone! I feel your comment about hte lower 48 being so vast. It's hard for me to justify riding to other countries when I don't feel like I've explored enough of our own country first.
I hope you can make it to RMR next year! We had a fantastic group this year!

I completed the ride from Philly suburbs to Deadhorse to Key West back to home from 17 June to 04 July 2023 on my 2015 Victory Vision. Overall, the weather was cooperative with a few slick spots on the Dalton. I stayed in a hotel/cabin each night. I shot from the hip each night because I didn't know where I would end up at the end of the day. Word of advice, if you're going to do the same, start looking for your hotel before 8:45 at night in the sticks of Canada. The front offices close shop and pickings are very sparce. 14 hours ride up from Fairbanks to Deadhorse, stayed at the Aurora for the night (now $189.00 per night) of course that was late arrival and no reservations. 14.5 hours from Deadhorse back to Fairbanks (longer food stops😆). Definitely take the extra gas when you leave Fairbanks. If it wasn't for a friendly southbound rider that had extra gas, I would have been stuck at Yukon Camp overnight. They ran out of gas. Overall, it was the most intense, white knuckled, and exhilarating ride I've done. Good luck and safe travels to future Dalton riders.
P.S. Alaska511 and a good weather app will be your best friends for highway conditions and moving rain clouds.

Absolutely I would take a Scrambler any place I would take my Tiger. I did Alaska in 2015 with my 13 year old son riding with me. Lots of fires in Northern Alaska then. Turned back at the Dalton. I figured at home I would be running from this, and here I am with 4 1/2 gallons of gas between my legs and my kid on the back. So back to Fairbanks we went. You can see the smoke in the last part of my Canada to Fairbanks video. Now he's on a GS800 saying lets go back dad.

In the last 4 years I rode The Dalton twice, once on a Harley Crossbones and once on a BMW F850GS. I also rode The Dempster twice. Once on my Triumph XCA and once on my BMW - I actually rode both this past spring on my F850GS.
If you could only do one - ride the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk. And be sure to visit Dawson City and enjoy a sour toe cocktail on the way!

Kidney belt. For pavement lower 48 riders, they don’t know. It creeps up if you don’t wear one. But once you’re hurt, it’s agony to stay on a bike and only time and not riding heals it.
Kidney belt. Hundreds of miles on washboard roads won’t be eaten up by suspension, especially if you ride in a very upright position. And arms transfer to the spine as well.
People don’t know, but you gotta do a kidney belt if you respect your body on these long Alaskan dirt roads.

I have rode the Dalton Hwy and it snowed, hailed and rained. Never again. If you are an experienced rider then ok. What they do not tell you is that people get hurt badly. Separated shoulder and head injuries. A guy lost one of his eyes. Please be careful.

I would need 6-8 months for that trip and I don't think I could fit that into the various seasons...

lol Maybe you could find trusted people to park the bike with and fly home in between seasons? XD

I would do the Dempster Highway but no interest in the Dalton... too many trucks from every vid I've seen. Dempster is pretty desolate, had pack with spots of loose gravel. Slimey when wet, of course, which is often.

Yes! I was looking at the route to Inuvik! (well actually I want to go to Tuktoyaktuk haha) I don't like the idea of having to pay someone so I can see the Arctic Ocean!

Yes! I would ride it! It's one I think I'd put off for a sabbatical.or retirement due to time off constraints, but this got me curious... If you get 3-4 weeks off a year, is it worth it to use them all at once to do this ride?

Making a plan to go back to Alaska & Prudhoe Bay this June, with my good friends Mark and Uli. We did a trip to Anchorage in 2017. That video is on my CZcams channel.

It’s BS you can’t go to the Artic Ocean on your own. Then they charge you. Ridiculous
