I love this because of how much care was put into creating our protagonists story, it wouldve been so easy to be lazy and just create an unpacking game but the details make it so so much better
If I remember right, she use to go climbing and had an accident. She had a rock climbing bag at one point, and then suddenly not and now she's taking medication and even has a cane. The subtle story telling in just the items she brings/leaves behind with each move is amazing. The reoccurring pig plush really got to me and I broke down sobbing when we got to pull it out in the baby's room, along with our wife's plush and new baby's plush TwT
I love how the game shows so much just through “stuff.” We know the protagonist is Jewish, blond (she has purple shampoo which is a staple to natural and bottle blonds alike), disabled, creative, either bi or pan, and towards the end of the game in a happy relationship with an Asian woman, with whom she loves to travel. I love all those details. 💛 She seems like a genuinely likable person.
As interesting as the purple shampoo thing is(I didn’t know about that) we can see little pictures of the protagonist and her circle that she puts on her cork board/fridge. The female roommate is a hijabi woman, the male roommate is man with a beard and brown hair, the ex boyfriend has brownish hair, the girlfriend has black hair with a dyed red streak, and our protagonist has brown hair.
I walk with a cane myself (or, well, several; gotta make sure they match the OotD), and when I first played this, I put the protagonist's cane in the umbrella holder as just a sort of 'haha, me' moment, because I keep mine in an antique umbrella umbrella, but I fully expected to have to move it later. I was (probably irrationally) thrilled when it turned out that the umbrella holder was, in fact, exactly where the cane was supposed to go
I played unpacking a couple of years ago but I never understood it in the way u did. Thx for helping me reach a new understanding and appreciation for the game
Oh man, I missed almost all of that when I was playing the game! Thank you for sharing, and especially for your thoughts on disability and chronic illness, and its evolution over the course of life. I know someone with a chronic illness that was not diagnosed until adulthood, and the ways that they are still discovering how the genetic condition affected their childhood years after diagnosis are complex and fascinating.
when i played the first time, and i realized that i had to hide the diploma under the bed, that infuriated me to no end,,, and when i saw that she was getting with a girlfriend and on the last level, i teared up !! ty for that analysis - i never really noticed the disability aspect with the medication and mobility aid!!
Please never stop making these long videos leftie. You are so appreciated. Idk if you take suggestions but maybe you could make a video about true detective (season 1)? ❤
So odd watching how you play. Unpacking a whole box onto the floor befor then sorting and putting away. When i played i put each item where i thought they went, only koving things at the end. Even how people play the game can differ depenting on personnality.

i spent sooo long on the boyfriend level and i hated it- i also spent sooo long on the girlfriend level and loved it :)
The boyfriend level drove me crazy! The amount I had to redo and redo and redo made me crazy.
There is so much to love about this game and it's so exciting to watch content that has such appreciation for it. ♥
8:33 I remember thinking, seeing the heat patches and such, that she might have intensely painful periods/ endometriosis
Great as always

what a wonderful game and video!
Your voice is so soothing, I could listen to you read the dictionary
do you have an IGN account or any place we can see your video game library ?
hi lucky! would you be interested in covering ghost story by daniel clowes? i feel like both the comic and movie are largely overlooked
