  • "Parchaiyan...." is a piece I wrote some time back describing how I felt once, right after hearing a certain person's name for the first time. Here, I perform it, with an original, albiet small, music piece capturing the mood of the write-up at the end, performed by one my most favorite musicians, Hamza Arif Janjua.
Some times, we choose to enter and exit other people's lives. But, many a times, we never choose. Circumstances push us into lives of others and they pull us out of them too, against our own wishes. At times, we feel good with the outcome, but a lot of the times, we never manage to come out of the shadows i.e parchaiyan, of people we went away from, or who went away from us! This thought is an ode to that feeling.
I hope and pray Allah puts 'sukoon' in our hearts and souls, irrespective of presences that we take for granted, or absences we look back at, with regrets and sadness.

This was a format I concieved, whereby, I wanted to read my original pieces similar to this one, and write and compose an original music piece at the end performed by Hamza. We had four more readings ready with the lyrics penned, music composed, and rehearsals done. But, then lockdown happened, and Hamza had to rush back to his hometown Multan.
Also, this was the first video EVER that we shot since I decided to start making them, that is why you will see some technical glitches and I apologise for that in advance. We shot it two months ago, and I was hoping for Hamza to return soon so that we could re-shoot it but that's probably not happening any time soon, so while we might not be able to produce the other four we had prepared for already, I felt like putting out at least this one.
Also Hamza, if you are reading this, there is NO musician I know who has more raw talent than you and has a more beautiful, bright, promising future ahead. I wish the world sees your magic, like I have, so many times, in our practice sessions. You Rock!
