  • Recently I took a trip to Iceland with some friends and family, and of course I had to grab some footage of the garbage trucks that service the area. Both these trucks were filmed in Reykjavik, Iceland on our last day there! Both crews were super helpful and really friendly! I honestly have no idea on the information of these trucks other than they are split, the chassis are Scania, and they are rear loaders haha. Let me know if you have more information about them, I am super curious!
Thanks to the crews for letting me grab some footage! I hope this video finds you guys!
    Thanks for watching!
    Shoutout to my buddy Albert!

great video if there‘s one thing I didn‘t expect on Yt it would be someone filming garbage trucks in Iceland haha
the orange truck is a NTM body. NTM is a Finnish company and they are pretty predominant in the northern European countries so no surprise Iceland has them too. From my knowledge, NTM is quite big in the split body business with them even having built (or still building idk) a RL that is solit into not two but four compartments. Northern Europe from my observation is quite the fan of split bins.

Wow, that is super cool! Not only is the rear load truck a split body which is a unique design in its own right, so are the bins! That is really something different. I have so many questions like how long have they been running this kind of setup and if these trucks were retrofitted to accommodate dual streams? The orange truck does seem to be a lot slower than the split body of the yellow one with the bins needing to be emptied one at a time due to the bins being slit too; quicker one would think to have individual bins for each stream.
Hope the holiday went well and maybe we are instore for some more overseas treats like this. Great job!

Sweet catch! I thought spilt body was just in North America so it was great seeing this. Interesting how the cart lids open away from each other as opposed to the standard American design. Thought this would result in more contamination since there is no barrier but it looks like it works well for them.

There's video's of splits in the UK. They also have curb sort recycling trucks with the buckets.
