  • Russell's first time doing the 400m dash. He's run the 4x400 before. Here he wins first place at the regional track meet. I think this time is 3 seconds better than his previous best. Too bad the camera man is not very steady...

    The scary thing is that he can improve his time a lot by getting some spikes, improving his form and getting off the line better. Very good run though.

      Yeah it looks like he trains for long/mid distance instead of as a sprinter, so he if he did that then he could get a lot better. I ran 400m in 8th grade and what dropped my time from 59 to 56 was working out as a sprinter

      It's 70 percent is genes and 30 percent is training athlectism comes from training.

    so i searched up this dude on milesplit and apparently he stopped running after his freshman year with a pr of 55.27 in the 400 and 26.70 in the 200. too bad, i thought this kid was running in college or something

      Kylen Baker sane bro 😂😂 he’s kinda slow where I’m from, I ran a 53 when I was in 8th grade, and I’m running a low 50 and I’m a junior, but I didn’t even make it to m area finals bc everyone is running 49s, my 200 time is around 21-22 so he’s pretty slow from where I am from

      sorts ,. I was in 8th grade when I was teaching myself how to do the 400,200 and 100. Trust me it's not really that hard to train for form, it took me about two weeks to get a perfect stride.

      Arath Gomez Lmao, your form is probably horrible. It takes elite world class sprinters years to "perfect" their forms, most of them still don't have perfect form. If you're saying you think it took you two weeks for your form to be perfect, then I can tell you you won't get far in athletics by already thinking you're at your best.

    Last year (freshman) I ran the 400 in 52.7 but our high school didn’t have baseball until this year and baseball is a sport that I have played since I was 5. I’m seriously thinking about running the 400 in state as a senior in hopes that I get a scholarship. Thoughts?

    I’m in 8th grade and I run a 54 400 and if there’s any tips I could give to this already amazing runner it would be 1 to work on his start with his speed I might even put him in on a block just to get a feel for it 2 straighten up his form kids who are already fast can be so much more deadly with a nice form keep the shoulders relaxed pump the arms in a straight motion and run up on your toes 3 get you some spikes already b you could seconds off that time with spikes and lastly get some endurance training if you can keep your sprint up the whole time you will be a deadly 400 runner keep up the good work my man

    Don't know why this is thought to be so good. In 8th grade I ran a 54.1 and a 2:04 800m. Im now 16 and I run 48.2 400m and 1:50.02 800.

    I remember my 8th grade year, took a kids spot on the 4x400 team after changing schools, and I had the second fastest 400m time that season.
    I beat the kid that was faster than in 9th grade though.

    I'm an 8th grader and ran a PR of 55.07, and broke my school's record in the 800 with a 2:10.45. The time is pretty good, but with form like that, he's not going to make it anywhere. Obviously spikes would've helped, but with his form, he would be pretty likely to catch a spike. Then he will also need to work on coming out of the blocks

    Did this kid make it to run in College? I would say he would make a good 800m runner! I just ran 61 seconds for the 400m at age 54. A freshman in high school would be great to go sub 55 and then sub 53 by the second year.

      Most High School coaches would be happy with a 400m runner around 51 flat. Any runner that goes sub 50 will be top 10 in most State meets.

      I ran 4x4 but never open 400. My pr was 53 and that would have put me 3rd or 4th in my region, but in the state I would have been destroyed I believe the top 6 went under 50 and I'm only 2A classification (less students in the school, so lower number of freakish runners)

      Jordon Vaughn it depends on where you live.......that will depict whats a good or bad time cus where I live you'll win first in local meet but you'll be in the top 3 in the state with 46-48 times that's the best of the best running that so I'm pretty sure you could run 50secs and win something
