My sister said her parents came to a country that they did not know, but she came to a country that she knew because she visited first. Sometimes we get push back from friends and parents about moving to Africa, but they did the same thing when they left the Caribbean for America and England. The difference is, today we have the internet so we can at least get an idea of where were moving to and we can visit before making the move. I will be moving to Ghana very soon once my preparations are complete, I've visited three times already, but my mind was made up after the first visit. Also, what she said about England at the start of the video is very true...folks, even if you don't want to move to the continent, why not invest in what is possibly the final frontier for people of color?

The entire system is set up to have you live on the verge of homelessness on a monthly basis and keeps you from accumulating money so you can move forward. In the US if you are paid 8 dollars an hour your rent in those areas with be 700.00 dollars per month and more with each year increased by 50 to 100 dollars. If you live in an area where the salaries are at average 20 dollars an hour then the rent is 1,700 per month. The math does not work out with what is realistic. This method makes people live in marginal debt with no savings that would sustain you for 6 months so it is easy to become homeless and always living on the edge. People should learn how to live together!!

I too am a second generation immigrant and my mothers mother was asked to come work in England from Dominica 🇩🇲.
My mum came here when she was 12 approximately, and has never been home since. Says there is nothing to go back for.
Like this lovely sister, I grew up and lived in Brixton most of my life. The way Brixton has been gentrified is crazy. We built this country up and they use us and toss us away like an old tissue when they don’t need us no more.
Im coming home. Hopefully at the end of the year ❤🎉

Wow, people are really different. Did you ever have a deep conversation as to why she chose not to visit again. Was most of her family in the UK, Zero attachment to the place at all. I am on my way to relocate home and whenever I do it always feels so peaceful. As much as i value diversity, it seems to me most not all black people are always at the back of the bus when so many races are put in one place. You may be economically well off but even the lowest of the other races somehow feel they are better than black folks. Happy for you and hope Africa is all that you imagine. If your mind is open you will enjoy it and there is nothing like knowing everyone in positions of power look like you. Yes, the continent has challenges but when you mature you realize home is best.

Great interview, however, one point, I was born in the 70s in the UK. Many JA's did not see themselves as Africans and clashed with Africans in the UK, mainly Nigerians, especially in the 80s.

This is very true. What is really interesting is after studying British History for several years I realise that the British establishment has been "spinning" for centuries. My parents generation had a real shock when they came to England and saw how poor the white working class people were spiritually and materially.... many Caribbean were better off in the islands! However, we are where we are and Britain now has a sizable Non European presence in the island. Karma.
