- We gathered a 9 person panel of NFL Media researchers, talent, producers, and historians, all whom have a deep understanding of players from the 20’s and 30s, as well as modern players from today’s game, and asked each to vote for the player who they believed was the “Best to wear it”. The following are the results of that vote/discussion. It’s all subjective so we expected plenty of discourse from fans, and that was the point! Enjoy accordingly!

Jim Brown was so great that he rushed for over 1,500 yards in 3 seasons each and 1 season with over 1,860yrds and what people forget is in his 4 first seasons, it was only a 12 game season and only a 14 game regular season when he played his last 4. And despite the league expansion to 16 regular season games. Brown is still the first and one of the only running backs to have a 100+ rushing TD career. Oh, just to put a topping on his 9 year career, he never MISSED a single game. And the cherry on top, he recieved for 2,500yrds and 20 touchdowns.
Barry sanders never missed a game

@@PatSnoop Good thing this conversation wasn't talking about Jim Brown. Easy for a fullback to look good when playing in an offense that potent in an era before substantial integration and while weighing at much as some of the OL. Ol' Jim wouldn't have done that playing for the Phoenix Cardinals in the 1980s.
The only RB more overrated than Jim in the annals of history might be Barry Sanders. Both were good but I would take a few RBs before them in a heartbeat.
Doug Atkins (Bears DE) should have been one of the three for #81. 94.5 sacks with 7 yrs of his prime not counted due to sacks not being recorded back then. He was the nfl's first "sackmaster". Dan Marino, dude
Yea, Warren Moon #1, one of the best QB's in the history of the University of Washington. Rose Bowl MVP 1977 Pac 8 player of the year and 1978 Rose Bowl MVP (big upset over Michigan).
Ray Lewis has a WAAAAY different reason for choosing 52 as his number. He said in an interview, when he was younger his mother’s boyfriend would beat on her and he wasn’t strong enough to defend her. He got a deck of cards, and would draw a card and do however many push-ups and sit-ups in connection to the number on the card. There is 52 cards in a standard deck of cards.

looks at trophy case: MVP
LOL
Should have been 1
Didn’t he have mvp the year he won the super bowl
@@mellon3293 no
AARON RODGERS NOT HERE CUZ "TOM BRADY" IS #12 yeah brady is better but they should do a 1A. Rodgers is 1 of the greatest all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who the hell gave Julio 0%!?
And Darrell green should have more
Who would vote julio over larry? Larry legend
Trc_ Sky yes Larry the lobster is a legend but there’s no way Julio should be voted 0% considering he’s gotta be at least top 5 WRs of all time
Hardline 1225 at least, u mean at most
But if julio is voted that means they think julio is better then larry
Really? No votes for Julio? I love Larry as much as the next guy but it's at least a discussion lol
73 without a mention of Joe Thomas? Never missed a snap and has the highest consecutive snaps played, made pro bowl every year. I can’t say he should be over Larry Allen but he should at least be on the list...
Also played for the Browns
Larry Allen over John Hannah is the real crime
As should Joe Klecko.
The percentages are literally more of a joke then me
And now Brady is the only old school qb left from 2000-2004 I think. Plus he has every important qb stat almost outside of qbr
His qbr is pretty good lol,it's just not the best in the league.
I agree with John Elway but I have no clue why Big Ben wasn’t in the conversation, Mike Vick, REALLY.
81 Calvin Megatron “no hope in hell of covering” Johnson
The reason ray Lewis actually chose 52 is cause there was 52 cards in a deck he bought
V_aiO The_XIVV theres 52 cards in every deck
HealablePuppy85 lol,he was a kid and he didint know.
It's so much deeper than that
