    This marked
-The first Cowboys home playoff win since 1982
-The first Cowboys home playoff win in a non-strike year since 1981
-The final playoff game for Rich Kotite as a head coach
-The final playoff start for Randall Cunningham until 1997
-The final game for Reggie White as an Eagle (as someone else said)

This was where most of us Eagles fans were resigned to the fact that we were never going to contend for a Super Bowl with this core group, much as we all loved those guys. We had false hope because we had Randall healthy, didn't get blown out all regular season, went 8-0 at home and beat a very good Saints team on the road in the first round, but this game showed we were nowhere near a championship-level team.

The Cowboys whipped the Eagles' butts in this one.

The Cowboys were just too fast and powerful. The Eagles really thought they could be a team of destiny especially after Jerome Brown died in the off season, but by this point the Cowboys were just too good. They weren't lying down like they had done from the second game in 1987 to the first time they met in 1991. They were just too talented and this is where it all starts coming together. The defense played like the number one rated defense and the offense just mowed down the Eagles defense especially Emmitt getting over 100 yards. For the Eagles the band broke up. Reggie White went to the Packers. Mike Golic went to the Miami. Andre Waters just wasn't the run stopping same since he came back from his broken leg and the Cowboys ate him alive in this game. The Cowboys would go onto beat the Eagles 8 out of 9 times from 1992 the second matchup in Dallas to the playoffs in 1995 and really ended up owning them until 2000 when McNabb and Andy Reid finally had the players to destroy the now old and weak Cowboys.

What made Aikman so good in your opinion?

    • @redmustangredmustang

@@SImSZN when he set his feet, he could hit anyone blindfolded. He was one of those scramblers that could get that first down even though he didn't scramble that much. He had all the weapons and offensive line. It was just a well run team that was built from the bottom up by Jimmy Johnson. That's why after 1996 the team's discipline fell apart because Jimmy wasn't there along with free agency.

@@redmustangredmustang I mean, with the best single season scoring defense of the 90s, they couldn't have fared any worse.

Possibly - and I say that as an Eagles fan. Saints had personnel that matched up better with them. No chance they would have won but may have been more of a competitive game.

The 92 Cowboys were full of cockiness and arrogance all cause of their HC. But they were good and it was their year from the jump.

A perfect numerical payback/ margin for the Eagles MNF win in Week 3. That earlier Philly team might have been Super Bowl caliber in their intimidation, but not for long.
