Agreed. I hadn't seen this before, and was expecting age to have taken its toll, as it has (understandably) on many singers from that era, and later. Plus he's singing live - there's often a big difference between a track that's come out of the recording studio and a live version of it. So what he does here is fantastic. And well done Jools for bringing it to us.

Such a talented, humble and warm-hearted human being! It was a pleasure to work with him and an unreal experience hearing him sing live over the studio monitors (solo'ed) while seeing him perform behind the studio room window. All the best, George!

Am nächsten Abend brachte ich die LP mit, George signierte diese für meinen " Best Friend ", da war ich richtig stolz! Ein sehr netter Mensch, freundlich und ohne Allüren, sein Lächeln und seine Begeisterung für Fans waren ehrlich!

This was my grandma's favorite song. She had a really difficult life (unfortunately, her alcoholism and mental illness brought quite a lot of hardship during my mother's childhood), but as a grandmother, she was the most wonderful human alive- even with her problems. Her birthday was Valentine's Day. She passed away almost 4 years ago. For so long this song was unlistenable. It was masochistic to listen to. But now I feel nothing but joy from it. Thank you George, for making an old woman happy, and for making me see that we shouldn't concentrate on death and sadness. Life's a garden, dig it.

It's 1974 and I'm in my bedroom listening to my Bush circular dial radio, copying down the charts into my chart book with my red felt tip. George McCrae is still number 1 ! Amazingly, the guy's voice has changed so little, I was transported right back there. Astonishing performance at the age of 73 !
