    Pandit Nikhil Banrjee was always an exception in initiating a Raga through his Alap in a unique way,which resembles the style of Dhrupod ,used to be sung by classical Artistes of the highest category, like Ustad Faiaz Khan Saheb,as known from the record of his performance,before introduction of Khyal style ,which is an abridged of Dhrupod style of singing.

    Malgunji is rarely heard from any performer whether here in India or in abroad as per audio and video records available to the listeners. It is so melodious. Pandit Nikhil Banejee displayed the beauty of this Raga depicting the pathos inherent mood of the Raga in his rendition ,in a unique way . Thus we are acquainted with this Raga through his wondeeful rendition.

      According to me no one has ever matched Pandit ji's gayaki style of playing sitar, near was only Ustad Vilayat Khan, but if you listen to Purbayan Chaterjee pkaying this raga, you will be surprised that how he was able to play this raga so well, that is nearly matching Pandit ji.

    HQ recording matching the rendition of rare rag nowadays overwhelmed by Rageshri. First heard in 1954 VR patwardhan - his favorite. Listening through AirPlay a pleasure

    Stunned. Never heard this raga except a bengali composition by Kazi nazrul islam. Subtle is really the perfect word. First flush of a rare variety of Darjeeling tea.

    Missing part notwithstanding. Incidentally I have it but digitised into Mp3 format at 128 Kbps from cassette. Difference in sq is evident.

    Thank you very much for the uploads of Pandit Nikhil Banerjee's divine music. Please continue the good work. My only request is that IF any music has been obtained from a previously released/uploaded source. perhaps it would be in order to mention/acknowledge the same. Thank you.

    There appears to be no audio for about 5 or 6 mins in the middle of this recording

  • @shreedadarwala7650
    @shreedadarwala7650 Před 3 lety

    The clip stops by itself. Many times in the middle. While there wasnt any problem with internet or data or connection.

  • @shreedadarwala7650

    however, the clip stops playing at least twice, right in the middle and then has to be pushed forward. Dont know if this is some kinda tech hitch. Needs repaired.

      I have corrected it in the notes.

      Anyway....in the heading ,it looks odd. Thank you for your sharing If you have Raag-Madhuvanti & Raag-Gurjari Todi,plz upload,and do more for sound quality which were already uploaded by others......you can try Raag-Marubehag (Shiv Kumar Sharma) its poor audio...Thank you again.
