Glad you got Pearl to the vet in time, my sisters pup passed and found it was the same thing yours had but never showed symptoms other than she pee in the floor before they went to bed. Rust and freezing water has an amazing ability to bend metal in ways we would gave never thought possible, my uncle planted 6”x1/2” square steel for door guards in front of his shop and a week later we had a steady rain then that weekend had a hard freeze (-5*). Went back out to the shop and sent me a pic of 2 round post with 8” of ice sticking out of them, told him he should have welded the cap on before it rained.
This was a neat little project! Knowing you had the extra snowplow laying around not being used, and experimenting with using the skid steer bucket to move snow around and you got to thinking 'I wonder...' Glad Pearl got some screentime and you managed to get her to the vet in time realizing something wasn't right with her. Dogs like her can live a long time. A buddy of the dad's has a chihuahua who's 18, going on 19 years old and can still get around extremely well, even though he's mostly blind and deaf now. I pray Pearl will be with us for that long. ^^

I have a Mini schnauzer terrier mix, and since she has the Terrier hair, I hand crocheted her a nice little winter jacket and then hand sewed in a nice little fleece lining and she is not shaking when she goes out for her walks with Paul..LOVE the plow, wish we had one like that here in Upper Northwest illinois. 3 sweeps and Paul would be done with the driveway.
I remember when I first started out in my landscaping business, I wanted a skid steer so badly. I had just finished a Loam and hydroseeding job using wheelbarrows, shovels and rakes and Knew my local nursery had just purchased a new skid steer. I asked the owner if they wanted to sell their skid steer, he said we’ll make me an offer. I had just made exactly $2580 on that job and that was my offer. I couldn’t believe he accepted, that’s was a very happy day for me as I just purchased the exact skid steer you own minus the auxiliary hydraulics. I never changed the oil in it once and it was such a reliable little machine and could pick up a very surprising amount of weight for its size. A few years later I sold it for $5500 and purchased my ASV RC60.
I took the plow off my dads ‘86 Bronco and converted it for my skid steer. I used a 3 point hitch plate and a couple large grade 8 bolts to attach it and a chain for lifting. I plow the same type of ground as you. Frozen mud with ruts. Wanted it to float independent of the ss to save some wear and tear on the machine. It’s worked well the last two winters

I would not like to live there where you are Jesse, the snow and the cold would put me off. I see your new house build is on hold because of the weather. Here, builders work all year around, because the weather is more compatible, mostly no snow in our cities, except occasionally in Dunedin on the South Island. I found the snow plow maintenance very interesting, thank you. Bob.

I had mounted a plow on a skidsteer in the 90s. It worked ok. The problem I had it killed my back getting jarred around in the machine. Later I adapted a snowblower for the skidsteer which worked very well, did a cleaner job, and didn’t cause the jarring back problems. At the time I had about 1/4 mile of driveway to clear.

Just because your brand of skid steer discontinued the cable does not mean a different brand does not have it. If it is long enough, ok, if it is longer, I am sure you can adapt. I am glad you did not decide to give up as go with what you had. I still think that some warehouse still has it in stock. Have good days!

A tip or two on hydraulic lines. First tip. I use Loctite 545 for all my threaded fluid connections. No messing with Teflon tape and they never leak. I had a fitting on my tractor that seeped and I tried Teflon to no avail. It was an old hose but still I didn't want to buy a new one so I tried this and that was 3 years ago and it has never seeped so much as a drop. Second tip. I know you have Tractor Supply in your area surely. Check out their ready made hydraulic hoses. I pay 15 - 20$ for a hose that they hydraulic shop wants 75$ for. Never had one fail yet. All my equipment is old so I keep a supply of the most common sizes in my shop. You cannot go wrong with Loctite 545! Promise! And you'll never go back to Teflon especially on hydraulics. Remember, It ain't stupid if it works!
ok I will try to remember to grab some soon. and yea I did see those hoses there and they were cheap, I couldnt find a way to adapt the one side up to half inch . I probably could have gone to another tractor supply and found it

Best snowplow wheel loader adaptation especially shortening the frame. Be wary of using the down pressure except when back dragging. Worth the $400for sure.
Good use of spare plow. Whenever I see skid steer in snow I think: no traction, but seems to push well. Also, soon after I thought- that kinda sucks because no float function like tractor, you explained it does float.
I had some pretty bad snow here in nebraska last winter so I went and got myself a plow for my atv. Now that I have the plow it hasn't snowed since, guess thats the way she goes. If I sell the unit i'm sure we will get a ton of snow.

Use the cheapest stuff you can get at the grocery store. Helps the snow to slide off and helps keep snow from falling off the wrong side of the plow. Probably also reduces by a little bit the energy needed to push the plow. I use it on my snowblower fan shroud and chute too. Anyway, great job.
Good job on the retro fit, I don't see too many people using flux-core welding wire these days, the things that is nice about it is you don't have to mess with shielding gas which makes your welding machine more portable for outdoor welding and it burns hot. The downside is that it burns sooty and produces way more welding fumes and smoke.
Great job! I would replace the rusted out piece on top, it seems that it holds the curved blade sheet to the upper frame, a big piece of angle iron would sandwich it to the tops of the ribs, better than welding back a flexing sheet to the ribs in the future... :-D Our old dog has had that surgery also, seems to be pretty common to older females, she lived happily a couple of years afterwards, all the best to Pearl! In the future you can put a washer in the base of your hydraulic fitting with a small hole. Like 1/8” or even smaller and then thread the hose on. This works well for slowing down the oil volume. If you can find a rubber cutting edge you’ll love it for sure on your gravel. Sweet build

I’ve built and sold several of these type plows from old pickup plows. I usually attach the plate with some forward tilt like the angle of the bucket. By mounting the plate this way you only need to utilize the tilt function to lift the cutting edge off the pavement.
The closer to verticle the cutting edge the more aggressive the edge cuts.That plow with the center pivot being so tall makes it very ridgid but it works good.
Diamond pre buyout by Meyer were really good plows. Ive been after our complex to get a plow for our SS for years, plowing with a bucket sucks. nice job thinking outside the box, repurposing that Diamond
Nice work on adapting the plow. Stick with the past form of sealant on a hydraulic system. If the Teflon tape git’s into a hydraulic control valve, it can cause problems.
One of the things I like is when you let your critters into your videos. I seem to like all dogs even if the breed changes my perceptions of their owners. Pearl did that and she seemed so 'right' with you ... before the note about her surgery ... after that you two were so right.

Nice job on the plow! I have been looking at those Summit valves for my John Deere tractor to slow down the angle speed for my Tar River loader mounted blade. I also waiting for my new grapple to arrive, it may be useful for that also. Keep up the good work on the house.
How dare the manufacturer discontinue the cable !! That's abandoning product owners. Some lubrication at 16:00 wouldn't hurt. Oh yeah, your repairs and manufacturing is outstanding. 🙂
Jesse also, something cheaper than the flow reducer valve is a simple orfice. I've used 1/16" orfices to reduce flow to a tilt bucket so I can have good control of it on my excavator, it's also much smaller and no knob to break or rust. If it's too slow you just drill the hole larger.
I built one back in the early 90's it was a manual angle western off a jeep i got the adapeter plate made a frame for it pined on the plow and the next year i added a hyd cyclinder and ran it off the machine for power angle and i got a cab and heat from bobcat for my machine it was an old 743 still got the 743 the plow has since been scrapped lots of people came and looked at mine and and built one of their own was cheaper then going to the dealer and buying one of their plows they were then about 2500 or so and i built mine for about 200 in material and it plowed lots of snow for maybe 15 years
That cable looks really similar to the type used to shift automatic transmissions in drag cars. I know they make them custom lengths all the time. Maybe reach out to one of them.

Nice work. When i mounted a plow on my skid steer i used 1/16 restrictor fittings part # apache 39004380 on both lines. Just a fitting with a small hole through it to restrict flow, u can drill hole bigger if its too slow.

I found a recap tire skin along the side of the highway. I put that between the cutting edge and plow. They are really thick and tough. Works great.

The closer to verticle the cutting edge the more aggressive the edge cuts.That plow with the center pivot being so tall makes it very ridgid but it works good.

Diamond pre buyout by Meyer were really good plows. Ive been after our complex to get a plow for our SS for years, plowing with a bucket sucks. nice job thinking outside the box, repurposing that Diamond

Nice work on adapting the plow. Stick with the past form of sealant on a hydraulic system. If the Teflon tape git’s into a hydraulic control valve, it can cause problems.
One of the things I like is when you let your critters into your videos. I seem to like all dogs even if the breed changes my perceptions of their owners. Pearl did that and she seemed so 'right' with you ... before the note about her surgery ... after that you two were so right.

Nice job on the plow! I have been looking at those Summit valves for my John Deere tractor to slow down the angle speed for my Tar River loader mounted blade. I also waiting for my new grapple to arrive, it may be useful for that also. Keep up the good work on the house.
How dare the manufacturer discontinue the cable !! That's abandoning product owners. Some lubrication at 16:00 wouldn't hurt. Oh yeah, your repairs and manufacturing is outstanding. 🙂

Jesse also, something cheaper than the flow reducer valve is a simple orfice. I've used 1/16" orfices to reduce flow to a tilt bucket so I can have good control of it on my excavator, it's also much smaller and no knob to break or rust. If it's too slow you just drill the hole larger.
I built one back in the early 90's it was a manual angle western off a jeep i got the adapeter plate made a frame for it pined on the plow and the next year i added a hyd cyclinder and ran it off the machine for power angle and i got a cab and heat from bobcat for my machine it was an old 743 still got the 743 the plow has since been scrapped lots of people came and looked at mine and and built one of their own was cheaper then going to the dealer and buying one of their plows they were then about 2500 or so and i built mine for about 200 in material and it plowed lots of snow for maybe 15 years
That cable looks really similar to the type used to shift automatic transmissions in drag cars. I know they make them custom lengths all the time. Maybe reach out to one of them.

When i mounted a plow on my skid steer i used 1/16 restrictor fittings part # apache 39004380 on both lines. Just a fitting with a small hole through it to restrict flow, u can drill hole bigger if its too slow.
Marine shifter cables are very similar to the cable on your skidsteer. They come in all different lengths and both ends are threaded.
To add on, a generic term for these are "push-pull cables". Search for that with the threads and length.
