We had an amazing experience decorating the streets in Furnas for the Santa Ana Festival! We also went on the carnival rides and watched the Procession !

Wow, seeing everyone decorate the roads with the beautiful flowers took me back to when I was a child. I was very young when I left our Island but I still remember how beautiful, and colorful it was. Also, the aroma in the air from all the flowers...beautiful. I love the photo of all the boys holding up the upside house...what a great shot! Thank you for sharing your day with us.😊
Brings back memories.....spreading the mantas as my Mom did when we were kids in the U.S. We lived right behind the church. My relatives played in the marching bands in the Azores. I love the architecture of the buildings.. Especially the church painted in black and white design. The upside down house was unique. What a fun time for the kids too.
Its wonderful doing these tapetes and the flowers and greenery smell so good i was born in Arrifes where we use dyed saw dust and flowers to make beautiful tapestries
I was initiated back in 2017, my husbands family adds color to wood chips, to the flowers and has a mold they use every year with a pretty pattern and all the neighbors as well. It was sooooo much work and it was over in a few minutes lol. If was beautiful to experience and I will hopefully be helping this year again. Ours is on the 20th of August.

Hi JCMM, yes it is a lot of work! Some people go all out with the patterns. We decided to do a more basic one this year .
