The transformation of Qi, a fundamental concept in human physiology according to traditional Chinese medicine, is crucial in maintaining various physiological processes. Qi, exhibiting different forms and activities - such as transformation, transportation, and directional changes - fundamentally impacts various aspects of human health and activity. It can condense to form the material body, exhibiting a Yin nature, or disperse to instigate movement, representing Yang. This Yin and Yang of Qi underpin human physiology, ensuring processes like movement, growth, and reproduction occur when Qi is aptly transformed. A flourishing Qi indicates health, while its weakness or misdirection signifies disease. Proper Qi transformation and directionality also influence other physiological aspects like blood movement, essence transformation, body fluids' movement, food digestion, nutrient absorption, waste excretion, and the moistening of sinews, bones, and skin while providing resistance to external pathogens.
    1. Pre Heaven or Inherited Qi (先天之气, Xiāntiān Zhī Qì)
    - **Concept**: We inherit a certain amount of Qi, known as Pre-Heaven Qi or Yuan Qi, from our parents at conception, which is stored in the Kidneys and utilized throughout our lives.
    2. Post Heaven or Acquired Qi (后天之气, Hòutiān Zhī Qì)
    - **Concept**: This refers to Qi derived after birth (Post-Heaven Qi) from the food we consume and the air we breathe.
    3. Production of Zong Qi (宗气)
    - **Inhalation**: When we breathe, the Lungs inhale air, extracting clean Qi known as "Clear Qi" (清气, Qīng Qì).
    - **Combination**: This Clear Qi combines with the food essence (Grain Qi or 食气, Shí Qì) derived from the food and fluids processed by the Spleen and Stomach.
    - **Formulation**: Together, they form Gathering Qi "Zong Qi" (宗气), which is particularly vital for the functioning of the heart and lungs.
    4. Formation of Ying Qi and Wei Qi (营气 & 卫气)
    - **Ying Qi**: Zong Qi is transformed into "Ying Qi" (营气, Nutritive Qi), which circulates with blood in the vessels to nourish the body.
    - **Wei Qi**: A portion is also transformed into "Wei Qi" (卫气, Defensive Qi), which flows outside the vessels, providing an energetic barrier against external pathogens and regulating body temperature.
    1. Inherited Qi (Pre-Heaven Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 先天之气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Xiāntiān Zhī Qì
    2. Acquired Qi (Post-Heaven Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 后天之气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Hòutiān Zhī Qì
    3. Zong Qi (Gathering Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 宗气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Zōng Qì
    4. Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 营气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Yíng Qì
    5. Wei Qi (Defensive Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 卫气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Wèi Qì
    6. Yuan Qi (Original Qi)
    - **Chinese Characters**: 元气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Yuán Qì
    7. Clear Qi
    - **Chinese Characters**: 清气
    - **Pinyin with Tones**: Qīng Qì

Chi is easily seen by anyone. Open up your hand and extent your fingers, place a white piece of printing paper behind the fingers. Look into "V" and you will see your own chi emitted. It is different color for different person. For me, it is multicolors, some color is solid like purple. Seeing "chi" is easy, but too control "chi" is a different story! Try it!

I read and heard about this topic everywhere, and they give many ideas and tips for saving your chi...
The most absurd is to not have sex, including sexual act, including masturbation.
It is said to drain your Pre-Heaven chi and make you expire(from life) faster.
On the other hand, some said that that the key to longevity is to gain chi by healthy sexual act... One that was normal for humans.
Other tips like choosing a house with good Feng Shui, is more acceptable.
I think this is what makes the Chinese interesting.

It's hard to tap into your pre-heaven qi, most activities won't do that. BUT...the theory is if you have strong post heaven qi, basically really strong and more than what you would need for basic functions, it protects the pre-heaven qi from getting tapped into too quickly. If you have weak post heaven qi though due to an unhealthy lifestyle, then in desperation your body may have no choice but to tap into a little pre heaven qi.

Hence feeling how you feel after performing this act, once it's over men just roll over and sleep, sleep is the cousin of death. Women must have heaps of chi, cos they can go another few rounds, they actually need to finish the rounds. Other wise they will start doing house work and chores, if there not satisfied, is that a natural way of getting there chi back. After the act.

I'm surprised he didn’t discuss the Daoist holistic healing arts focused on manipulating Qi energy utilizing the meridians to all parts of your body.
Maybe you can think of it as “Daoist preventive medicine” with no intrusive acupuncture needles.
Many of these are daily exercises anyone can perform though for some of the more complex ones you should have formal meditation experience.
I’ve tried some of these techniques and exercises with success.
When traveling across China you will occasionally see older adults and seniors practice some of these in a park, out walking, and even the simpler ones when shopping though they are mostly used at home.

    Qi Gong is an own art that does not have any direct relationship with martial art application of Qi. Qi in internal martial art have not the exactly same meaning of Qi in TCM. For avoid confusion some internal martial does not use the the word Qi at all. Just call it internal internal energy that can be transform to internal power or Jin power. The internal power is generated my applying so called Yi or Mind Power based on Zheng Nian or Mindfulness mode i.e. mind focusing in relax state. How the do it I will be complicate to explain. Healing part with Qi is the part that is also based on mind leading the internal energy. For feeling what is the feeling of energy is crucial for apply it, it is like tuning the a radio after a frequency.;

Good Content, especially the Chinese names. Some of the concepts you mention can be referenced in the book "Path notes of an American Ninja Master". There were also a series of books by a Greek Martial artist about the teaching of a Martial Artist/Acupuncturist in Java, leading to his theory that ancient gods may have gotten their powers from Chi.
