- Hey Guys! In this video, I really do need some advice! What do I do?
So I have a vintage Noé that was gifted to me by my husband. The bag originally belonged to his mom or my mother-in-law. But as you will see in the video, the bag is basically on its last leg. I removed the vachetta trimming because it was fraying and falling apart. The vachetta drawstring broke off so I replaced it with just a leather string. The underside of the bag is covered in watermarks.
So basically I am debating about what to do with this bag! It does have a lot of sentimental value for me so I do not want to part with it, I'm just wondering should I: restore it at the Louis Vuitton boutique, buy a new Noé or buy a pre-loved Noé like the one I have.

Hi Donna! Have you decided? For me this bag is definitely worth restoring with new vachetta since it has such an important history and sentimental value to it. I think investing in its restoration would give it another 30 years or more. Let us know what you decide!💕

I say I would get your bag repair for because of sentimental reasons. I bought a vintage Noe GM and the trim also flaked off so I did what you did and took all off. I finally took it to a LV in Bloomingdale’s and I was quoted $330 to replace all the vachetta and it has plenty of vachetta more than yours. They are replacing the trim on top, sides, bottom, the straps and the ties. Not sure why their prices are cheaper than the LV boutique. I’m impatiently waiting to get her back. I dropped her off mid Nov and estimated time for completion is 1/24.

How did the repair turn out?
@@shabchique7149 it went great. I was charged less than quoted. I forgot what the total was but I think it came out to $247? The specialist I was working with isn’t there anymore and I didn’t get a call that my bag was ready so when U came in to check it was there and the person taking over introduced himself and was shocked that I was getting charged $330 instead of $660 so they had to manually change the price but they couldn’t figure it out and ended up at $247, fine by me. Anyway, she looks new and I had the inside of my vintage Sac platt redone too and she looks amazing.

I agree with you and think that repairing the bag is probably the best option (cost wise and sentimental value). $400-500 repairing cost is really reasonable for such a large bag. I brought a bag to the Vancouver LV boutique few years ago and was quoted for $350-$400 for repairing 2 tiny handles (pretty much the thickness of the string on your bag). I didn’t end up doing it as I thought the cost was a bit unreasonable.

Wow! The canvas still looks so good. I would just get it repair. A fresh leather trims would make the whole bag look even more brand new.

You should keep it as it is! Honestly, the condition of the bag is not that bad. If the handles break one day, then consider repairing, but otherwise, just enjoy the vintage look 😍😍😍

Sandle soap by kiwi and conditioner do not over saturate it use a white microfiber cloth.
Hello, Donna. My only oldest item from LV is the passport holder which is almost 10 years now. This bag has much history and it looks pretty nice for a 30+ y o bag.😇 If you decide to have it repaired, please ask LV to leave it as much as it is now, just for some vachetta pieces. The canvas is so great.❤️

Yes, my sister used the Louis Vuitton repair service twice. She got mold on the inside and Louis Vuitton repaired the entire bag and inside for free twice. The second time she even offered to pay and they refused her money. they sent it to Paris and repaired it for free again. This is why I am in Louis Vuitton fan.

I think this bag has so much character as it is because there’s a lot of history. I would suggest replacing the shoulder strap because it looks like it will snap but other than that, try to keep as much of the original as you can because it’s very special. ❣️❣️❣️

Oh wow, I didn't know they had feet on the bottom of them back in the day......nice. I had my vachetta all replaced on my vintage speedy 30 and I am so glad I did that. I say get the leather replaced on your MIL because of that sentimental value. The canvas on the vintage is so much better than the newer ones. My experience was good with the exception they didn't change the vachetta leather tab. So I was upset when I went to pickup the bag only to have to leave it their so they could replace the leather bag. I was like why wouldn't you guys change that out too. I told you to change ALL the leather 🤦🏽♀️. But they changed it out and like I said I am so happy I did that. Now it has new life. Keep you MIL bag and just update the leather. You will be so happy that you did in the long run. I think you will regret getting a replacement bag.

I would suggest to drop it back to LV to repair, i had dropped mine in June now waiting for it to be return. According the LV Staff, it's worth repairing Vintage as the leather int he past was way much better than current material they are using. It's tougher. I was quoted SGD 850 to remove all the leather trim, strap, pull strap and base of bag. (Alloy Rings will not be replaced as it's cost SGD 45 per pc) as the staff advance against it as it just need some polishing.

Beautiful bag. my concern is the feet. were they added on later because this bag never ever came with feet. It’s either fake or if feet were added on. if this is the case, Louis Vuitton will not touch the bag.

What did you decide to do with the bag? I'm so curious. 😀 I had this vintage bag (from the 90s) and mine didn't have feet. I wonder if your MIL had these feet added?
I used the repair services to purchase a "replacement part" for my bucket GM. I purchased this bag pre-loved. The previous owner had already sent it to LV to replace interior lining and top trim. This bag originally came with a pouch so LV allowed me to purchase a new updated version. It was a smooth transaction but it took a couple months to get the pouch. It was worth the wait.

I don't think Louis Vuitton will touch this bag. The feet were added so its been ultered. This bag never came with feet.

My advice to you is to repair it now, because the canvas is in a good condition, if you damage the canvas in the future LV won’t repair it also the vintage canvas is thicker and more durable than the newer ones. 😉

This bag was ultered. Noe was never made with feet on the bottom therefore LV will not repair the bag.
