  • When visiting Lake Manyara there is certainly lots to do. Safari in the national park, kayaking on the lake, bicycle rides and so much more!
    This can all be pretty expensive though when you consider the expensive park fees of Tanzania! So today we decided to explore the local area close to Lake Manyara; Mto Wa Mbu village, and see what life is like for a local Tanzanian living in a rural area.
    The area is full of local artisans, from wood carvers to painters to banana beer brewers this area is really full of life and talent!

    Have you guys had malaria? My family and I are coming to Watamu in July from Ireland and are worried about it. We are going to take pills and other precautions but I am wondering if you have any tips/information?

    • @WhereNextFamily
      @WhereNextFamily  Před 5 měsíci

      No we have never had Malaria, and we lived in Kenya for 2 years, as well as visited many times before that.
      We never took Malaria tablets, and most long term residents also do not take them.
      I'm not advising you NOT to take the tablets by any means, but typically the danger with Malaria comes when people don't have access to health care.

      I think whether you take the tablets or not the main thing is just prevention of Mosquito bites.
      Have a Fan blowing on you at night so they can't land, and wear repellent when you go out in the evening for dinner.
      They are only really a problem early in the morning and during sunset hours

    I've been to Kenya and Tanzania some years ago (including Mto wa Mbu), and I really want to come back. I've been watching all your videos and they are properly inspiring me to go back.
    Your videos are great, really well made and you show all the aspects of travel, which is nice.
    Now, if you wouldn't mind a constructive criticism, the only thing I really dislike on your videos is the soundtrack. That electronic/house/techno music, I don't know the name of this style, but is really annoying and offputting, and doesn't go well at all with the vibe of the videos, which is travel, nature, family etc. I hope I didn't come out as rude, not my intention.

      Thanks. Yes I totally understand your criticism. Music is the hardest thing for us as it has to be copyright free in order for us to use it.
      I actually agree with you 🤣 and am trying to find some new music

    Did you and you little one have the yellow fever vaccine before travelling?

    • @WhereNextFamily
      @WhereNextFamily  Před 4 měsíci

      If travelling from Kenya, you do need Yellow fever vaccine to enter Tanzania, however not if you're travelling from a non-yellow fever country
