Just saw this video, a few years after the fact. I live in L.A., and you definitely hit some of the hot spots. I do realize that there's so much here, it's impossible to cover every cuisine. So can we just mention the huge number of Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley? From many difference provinces in China? Some of the best dim sum in the universe. Then there's a big Indian population in L.A., with restaurants in "Little India." You've got Thai Town and Little Ethiopia (injera, anyone?). Little Tokyo and Gardena for amazing, traditional Japanese food. The list goes on and on. Argentinian, Venezuelan, and Salvadoran food. How about food from Nigeria? We've got every ethnicity imaginable, and the restaurants to go along with it. Thank you, Jonathan Gold, for showing us how Los Angeles is one of the best places to eat out in the U.S.

In LA, don’t forget the Chinese food section, from Michelin star Temple City Bistro Na to Arcadia 626 night market and food trucks in monterey park, J town Curry House, Marugame Monzo, try Traxx in grand central station where Blade Runner was shot, Union in Pasadena, wait 2 hours in line for Howling Rey fried chicken in China town, Wako Katsu pork cutlet in K town, better than Tokyo Japanese sandwich Echo Park Konbi and my favorite esquites from Corn Man in Lincoln Height, and oh yeah Vietnamese Phoholic in West Minister. Pink hotdog needs no introduction, right now Hollywood Yamashiro is serving blue luminous ramen, stop by Tao Asian Bistro for a drink and admires the beautiful decor. No budget issue, try $250 per person Culver City Vespertine food journey or Kyoto based Beverly Hills Tempura Endo.

Native Angeleno here, and I say this list is legit. Well done video too! Those crying about their restaurant or food spot not making the cut, there isn't enough time in a CZcams video to cover it all. Also, your palate probably isn't refined enough, so you wouldn't know the difference between good and bad. Additionally, just because a place has existed for 50+ years doesn't make it good. Taco Bell has been around since 1954 ;)

This is really well done dude. I'm a born and raised Angeleno and I agree with your list. Taste is always subjective but your list celebrates the international variety of the city in a very wallet friendly grouping. For those coming to LA for the first time, traffic is bad but not the worst (SF is worst rush hour now). Good strategy is don't drive distances more than 6 miles between 4pm-730pm, so do dinner or happy hour at this time.

But I must back up about three years because I used to live in Atlanta and there's lots of food to explore there as well. But let's move forward to Los Angeles. When I used to live in LA there was a place in Alhambra called "The Hat". I remember their massive pastrami sandwiches. Then there was El Tepayac serving these awesome burritos. One was massive called the Manuel Special. And lastly Tommy's ! It was my top bucket list stops. I hadn't had that in 10 years. Chili burgers by Tommy's. Fantastic. And the next one on my bucket list was In-n-Out

Forgot that we also have the largest Cambodian population outside Cambodia - and Phnom Phen Noodle House in Cambodia Town. Food Channel and Andrew Zimmern have been there. Surprised you missed it as it is probably the best real Cambodian food outside Cambodia - and in a place as diverse as LA, it stands out.

I've always found it hard to eat Mexican food in LA cause both my parents are Mexican. Also, whenever I was craving something my mom would pull the whole "food at home" bit, but I ain't mad she makes good food. Anyways, there is this Peruvian food place called Mario's it's on like Melrose and Vine. Also, I've been eating my rotisserie chicken from this place on 8th and western called pollo a la brasa, also owned by peruvians lol

Frank-Gavin Moratalla rewriting this because I thought of a better way to put it but
Guisados is a great place to eat located in Downtown LA(DTLA), East LA, Wilshire and Normandie, or even in West Hollywood on Santa Monica BLVD and Hilldale. Some of the best tacos you’ll try. The name stands for stewed. Which is what happens to the meat it is stewed and then placed on the corn tortilla.

Wow great fun video. I'm from LA but now travelling the world and this vid made me all warm and fuzzy. The only place I would add is El Coyote on Beverly Blvd. I've been going there literally decades. Amazing Mexican combinations in an over the top Mexi environment. My fancy friends think it's slop but my Mexican relatives love it. Still my favorite refried beans, and probably my favorite restaurant.

I feel L.A. is undervalued when it comes to food. Everyone touts New York, but L.A. reigns supreme. I am shocked you didn't give a nudge to The Pantry, Philippes, or Nicks Cafe. Maybe those are all too known (like Tommy's, In-N-Out, Versailles, and Roscoe's) but you did cover places I wasn't aware of.

A lot of these places are on bus or train lines. The other day, I thought I would save time on a Lyft instead of Metro from Mid-City to Union Station, but it took only 10 minutes less than going by bus and subway.
