      It depends on the case. Look for the flute opening. If the file looks distorted, if the blades looks flat its better to discard them.

      If you want to prevent staining then you can use an unfilled resin which is available specially for final application after composite. Its available with ultradent.. we dont use Varnish.

      Normal varnish is preferred because fluoride varunish is for external surface to arrest caries.

    Is there is another way to estimate remaining dentin thickness without x-ray ?
    like, measurements as a rule of thumb.
    Unrelated question, Is the strength of amalgam affected by sectional thickness and depth?

      There are some electronic mesurement devices. I am not sure about the name. They can help one to measure the rdt.
      Answer to your 2nd question is the thickness of the Amalgam. Depending on that minimum depth who be made.

      I don't think that device is popular, i would be looking for it.
      do yo have a practical advice for students who don't have access to x-ray or prepmeter?
      my instructor told me to estimate distance by vision, but obviously i cannot.

      That comes with experience. I do check the floor depth and sometimes if the p
      Floor is too think it will appear pink due because the thin dentin reflect pulp colour
