    While watching this sew with me video, I learned something that helped me solve a problem that I've had for months with a Vogue pattern. It had to do with the fold, interfacing, and fold again! I have this skirt pattern. I'm not entirely convinced that I will like it if I make it. Love to watch your videos and I'm now inspired to try this one. Thanks!

    Hi there, if you sew a button front skirt again try sewing the waistband button hole horizontally and the lower ones down the skirt front vertically. This allows movement for the button holes to move over the contours of the body without distorting the lie of the foot t band.

      I'd also love to see a video on transferring pattern markings. One problem I have is that unless I start my sewing project immediately, my markings seem to disappear quickly. I'm a beginning sewer and when I select my patterns, I always seem to misjudge the proper size to cut out for myself. As a rank beginner, I'm obviously a long way from being able to custom alter a pattern or a garment, so can you do a video showing how to select the proper size on a given pattern that best matches the sewer's personal measurements?

    Hi Brittany! I just discovered your channel and I subscribed immediately. Your tutorials are awesome. I sewed this skirt along with you and made your suggested button adjustment (slightly upwards) but I still got a giant gap,- much worse than yours. It's too bad because I love the rest of the skirt and had such high hopes. Other than adding a snap, have you figured out a way to correct this flaw? I've been wanting a flattering, full pleated skirt forever. Is there another one you suggest? Thank you!

    • @brittanyjjonestv
      @brittanyjjonestv  Před 5 lety

      Hey Kelsey! Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel! I really appreciate that! I'm so sorry to hear you have a gap also on your skirt. Other than adding a snap, I haven't come up with another fix for it. I'm sorry. I did look through recently released patterns and I saw Simplicity 8743. It's a pleated skirt, with pockets. It doesn't have the buttons but it can be made in similar fabrics as this one, like cotton, denims, and sateen. Thank you again for watching!

My serger is the Husqvarna Viking Huskylock s25. I love it. Its a two-in-one, so its a serger and a overstitch machine. I definitely recommend it especially if you will use the coverstitch feature. If not, Husqvarna has another serger that's just a serger. Or you can start with a Brother serger, they are great for beginners, affordable, and has amazing reviews from a lot of makers.

    Just curious. When ever I sewed, I always pressed the fabric after washing and drying.
