I have been working on this for quite a while, and I think it turned out pretty nicely. Not exactly as I wanted to, but I believe it is quite fine ;D

@Rýgon Nah, we literally need fan translation for Tales of Rebirth and Destiny (PS2), Tales of Arise looks fine though.
@@360Blader yeah, Rebirth and Destiny DC are the top of the list of Tales games that need to be localized (Destiny 2 would also be nice and a port of Phantasia X too)
I doubt we’ll ever get another 2D Takes game except for a fan game or two or a rerelease/remaster. 3D models are fine. But Bandai Namco, I beg of you, Tales of 2D remasters in the vein of FFPR, please!

There's accuracy in literally translating but beauty in adding new things. In fact, most localizations out there are hardly literal (for any game).

Just a clarification, I believe Eugene's is the force of steel/metal. The force of earth belongs to a lesser antagonist called Donnell, who can create clay automata.

That’s some Marvel vs. Capcom or NeoGeo Battle Coliseum shit right there. Those special attacks in ToR (I don’t know specifically how to pull them off but I have a few times, is it random?) are like those tag specials in 2 on 2 fighting games.
Can't wait till I finally get around to playing this game.
@Liddell1988 Again, things like "give/grant us a miracle" to "grant us the power to bestow a miracle" or "the power of water" to "power of the oceans" were made intentionally.
Some others were misheard, like comply to your appeal or Eephon's line which was -entirely- misheard, as well as Milhaust's.
@Liddell1988 Well, it's not meant to be a 1:1 translation. Some stuff was misheard (specially boss quotes) but others were intentionally changed (Celsius Calibur) to add impact.

Damn Bro. I hope Life Bottle also translates this. Because Rebirth has been in my waiting list like 13 years already, just as much as Destiny does but am already playing it thanks to them.

There a 1080p resolution for HD. Which is the highest HD quality out at the moment.

@InternationalGamer1 Excuse me, but I think you are mistaken. Thousand Braver is a reference to Barbatos' Genocide Braver, both which in no way look like Cloud's Braver, at least from the top of my head (and dissidia, which made it a thrust). I don't see why it should call be called a copy
This game actually broke the Mold and featured Innovations such as the Rush Gauge, Enhance Points and more.
@Kevassa02 I know I just meant at THAT time, Rebirth was the prettiest of them all and it didn't come over. I'm importing it anyway. But I plan to support tales as much as possible. That's why I'm buying Tales of the Abyss 3D and Tales of Graces F day one.
The story of Rebirth is the best. My only gripe is Hi-Ougi activation is rare + conditions must be met, and only can be used to finish the battle.

I still prefer to treat translations as localizations rather than transliterations.

@Teremei Oh yes, if you meant PS2 era, then we did get kinda shafted, graphically speaking. Destiny R and Rebirth are gorgeous while Legendia and Abyss are...decent at best graphically

ToD DC is PS2 exclusive, mind you. But ToR, ToE and ToD2 have PSP ports. They are much easier to find from what I understand so that should be something :)
You mean the phrase for Celsius Calibur, right? It's "その身に刻め", or Sono me ni kizame.
I didn't take a literal approach to the translation but rather trying to translate the impact. Kizame can mean a couple of things, one of them is engrave/chisel/etch/record memories.

@Barrylocke Well I had a lot of fun playing them and I don't know the language. I was pretty eager to play them, so in the end, the language didn't mattered.
This game has some epic voice actors. Veigue is Link and Tylree is Usopp.
He does turn his sword into Soul Calibur in RM3. It's just the newer Soul Calibur sword design.
@Liddell1988 Yes, I will compy with your appeal was extreme, among others, but honestly considered the horrors I had to go through to translate this the final product was pretty decent.
I know you're acting at the best of your interest, to contrast meaning with translation, but you also have to factor all the difficulties with doing an ear-to-ear translation, that I'm not native japanese or native english and that this isn't really a paid official work translation.
@Teremei Hey, we did get the only (as of now) HD Tales and Tales of Graces which isn't all that bad.
I love em sprites though, so I kinda understand you.
I just noticed that Graces reused the Dual the Sun Hi Ougi Combo for the last boss

Yuris has all the maxwell extensions, but due to many reasons I just left it with only one.
@Liddell1988 Yeah, I'm aware of their transliterations. As I said, I wanted to change them to add impact and a different message. I don't like doing 1:1 translations.
@laharl95 Claire wasnt playable in RM2, either, she isnt supposed to have force, and in 2/3s of the game its impossible for her to use force, even if she wanted to, due to plot specific issues
I remember a comment about Annie getting Infinitia Strike instead of Ryuuko Metsugazan by mistake and I just tried to imagine her doing Infinitia Strike and... oh god... LOLOL.
All bosses but Yuris is PSP, recorded by ryuhiroshi as mentioned in credits.

Are there any remakes of Rebirth like how Destiny DC has a PSP remake (or at least I think it does... Stahn's sister becomes a playable character in it)?Because it would be so much easier to import it on a non region locked system rather than have to import a PS2 /and/ get a outlet converter. I've also heard it would only work with a Japanese tv as well but I don't know the truth behind that.

celcius calibur uses the sword that celcuis fights with in some games

0_0 wow Celsius Calibur actually uses Soul Calibur, and here I thought something was wrong with my Radiant Mythology 3, but why won't it turn into Soul Calibur in Graces f...oh well gotta love cameos!

ToR in PSP was a great game, as well as other Tales of games, i always wanted to play every one, but i couldn't even finish Totw Radiant Mythology 2 (which i'm playing right now). I plan on getting back to ToR and ToD 2 soon, hope i get the chance ^_^

The one escort title I really want but can't figure out how to get a hold of is Tales of the World: Tactics Union. Looks really fun but you can't import a Japanese download game. :/
Tytree was the best char in Rebirth and a better protagonist than Veigue.
Dual the sun best mystic atre ever.. tho i never used even after completing tales of eternia
I really recommend a PSP if you like Tales. RM3 and NDX are pretty good PSP exclusive Tales games! Plus NDX comes with the best version of Phantasia :)
